Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.adoption fee $250.00 Cooper is a young Cattle Dog/Terrier mix with a bright mind and a big heart. He’s making great progress with potty training, does well in his crate, and loves playing with the pets in his foster home. He’s currently learning his leash manners and, like many herding breeds, has plenty of energy to spare—a fenced yard would be nice but not a requirement. We think Cooper has the potential to really shine in agility or other active training activities! Before adopting, we always encourage families to research the breed to make sure the energy level, temperament, and lifestyle needs are a good match. Cooper is an amazing pup who will thrive with an active family ready to help him reach his full potential. New foster dogs need time to feel safe. They may be skittish or fearful, so always stay with them outside—even in fenced yards. Ensure collars and leashes fit securely to prevent escapes. Your gentle presence and protection help them feel loved and secure. The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 13 weeks old), and spay/neuter when necessary.  The fee also helps with the cost of deworming; heartworm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. He will go home with a collar, leash, and vaccination record. Story
Meet Kat! 🐶 She is the sister of Kit, who was adopted last month. She is our sweet Blue Heeler mix, with a heart full of sunshine and zoomies! Kat was born around September 20, 2025, and she’s everything you’d expect from a happy, well‑socialized puppy. She adores people, loves other animals, and approaches the world with pure enthusiasm. If it moves, she wants to play with it! As a young herding‑breed mix, Kat is bright, energetic, and eager to learn. She’ll thrive in a home that’s ready to invest time in training, structure, and basic obedience. Kat has plenty of puppy energy to burn, so a secure, fenced‑in yard where she can run, explore, and practice her zoomies is a must. With the right guidance and consistency, she’s going to grow into an incredible companion! Adoption fee: $450

Story
Weight: 54 lbs 💙🐾 Meet Bandit – An Energetic Soul with a Playful Spark! 🐾💙 Bandit is a handsome blue heeler mix with a shy, thoughtful personality and a heart full of potential. He may take a little time to warm up, but once he feels comfortable, his playful side shines. Especially when it’s time to play fetch, his absolute favorite game! This smart boy already knows how to sit and shake, showing off his brains along with his good manners. As a herding breed, Bandit has natural instincts that can make living with other small animals a bit challenging for him because he lives for the chase. Bandit would do best with an active family and a large space to run and play. Before arriving at the shelter; Bandit lived out in the country with a ton of space and a nearby pond and regularly went on long runs. A constantly low activity environment could be frustrating for him, which may not reflect well. Dogs: No Thank you! Cats: No thank you!! Kids: No Tiny Tots due to herding tendencies!!

Story
Weight: 59Lbs Meet Frankie 💕🐾 Frankie is a beautiful Australian Cattle Dog mix with a sensitive soul and the sweetest heart. She likes to take a minute to warm up — she’s more of a “let me observe you first” kind of girl — but once she knows you’re safe, she blossoms into the most loyal little shadow you could ever ask for. She prefers gentle introductions (no surprise head pats or fast movements, please — this queen values her personal space). Calm voices, slow movements, and letting her come to you are the way to win her over. Frankie thrives in a peaceful environment where she can feel secure and understood. And when she’s comfortable? That’s when her fun side shines. Frankie absolutely loves squeaky toys — one little squeak and she’s locked in, wiggly and ready to play. Watching her light up during playtime is pure joy. Frankie would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention without feeling overwhelmed. She bonds deeply with her people and truly wants to be someone’s whole world. She’s the perfect blend of cautious and cuddly — a tender-hearted girl who just needs a little patience before she shows you just how sweet, loyal, and playful she really is. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will stick by your side through it all, Frankie is ready to choose you. 💗 Dogs: Must meet all pups in home! Cats: Unknown Kids: No tiny tots, must meet all kiddos in the home!!

Story
This spotted cutie is Waylon!Waylon has now been with us at FDHS for a while, and we’ve gotten to know him much better. With our staff, he’s a big giant baby and sweet as pie. Once he trusts you, he’s affectionate, sweet, and loves nothing more than being a lovebug.Waylon can be very cautious when meeting new people and will often bark or growl at first. Because of this, he’s going to do best in a home with rescue dog experience or adopters who are patient and willing to put in the time to earn his trust and help build his confidence. At this time, we don’t feel he would be a good fit for a home with children under 10.He’s shown a lot of curiosity about the other shelter dogs and seems interested in making friends. With proper introductions, we think he could do well in a home with other dogs and likely cats too. Waylon is a smart, young dog and very treat motivated, though he’s still learning to take treats gently. When he’s not zooming around the yard and burning off energy, Waylon is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle. He comes from energetic working-dog heritage, so an active home that’s committed to keeping both his brain and body busy will be key to his success. Waylon has been fully vetted and is available for immediate adoption. He’s just a sweet boy looking for his place in the world and a family to call his own.**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs 72 lbs**
