Story
This puppy is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $250 if picked up in TN, $325 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Goose, a one-year-old smooth-coated Border Collie with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Goose is friendly, playful, and full of busy, happy energy that keeps life interesting. Weighing 36 pounds, he is a wonderful size for an active companion who is always ready to join in on whatever you’re doing. He is the kind of dog who truly wants to be involved and thrives on interaction with his people. One of Goose’s most endearing quirks is his love of collecting toys. He happily gathers every toy he can find from around the room and the toy box, proudly hoarding them in his own special corner as if he’s curating a personal treasure pile. It’s just one of the many ways his bright and entertaining personality shines through. Goose is housetrained, does well in his crate, and walks nicely on a leash. He rides well in the car and enjoys getting out to explore the world. True to his breed, he has a strong herding instinct and loves activities that let him move, think, and engage his brain. Walks, playtime with other dogs, belly rubs, and chew time are all high on his list of favorite things. He is smart, treat-motivated, eager to please, and genuinely affectionate, making him a wonderful partner for training and bonding.  He gets along well with other dogs and is friendly with strangers. He can live with a cat as long as interactions are monitored to ensure play stays polite. Goose would be happiest in a home that understands and appreciates herding breeds and is committed to providing him with daily exercise, structure, and ongoing training. With the right outlet for his energy and intelligence, Goose will be an incredibly loyal, loving, and fun companion who is ready to give his whole heart to his future family.  Interested in adopting? COURTESY LISTINGLILO is a courtesy listing, not in the AARF foster program, and we are posting online to help the owner find a home for them. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply. Lilo is a bright, joyful burst of energy wrapped in a 30-pound Border Collie/Aussie mix body. Around four years old, she is the definition of enthusiastic—always ready for the next adventure, the next game of fetch, or the next opportunity to show off her clever mind. She greets life with excitement and a tail that never seems to stop wagging. This smart girl already knows sit, shake, and lay down, and she learns quickly with a willingness that makes training both fun and rewarding. With her intelligence and drive, Lilo has all the makings of an incredible sport or activity partner. Whether it’s rally, scent work, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, or simply an energetic game of fetch in the yard, she is ready to be your teammate. In fact, she loves fetch so much that she’ll sometimes toss the ball back to you herself if you’re not quick enough—just to keep the game going. Once she’s had a chance to burn off her zoomies, Lilo transforms into a devoted cuddle buddy. She’ll happily snuggle up close on the couch to watch TV, content just being near her people. She’s fully house trained, sleeps through the night in her crate, walks well on leash, and rides comfortably in the car. She loves kids and has done wonderfully with the children she’s lived with, bringing her playful spirit and affectionate heart into the home. Lilo does well with many dogs (but not some other female dogs) and has lived with cats, responding well to redirection when reminded of her manners. She thrives with structure, activity, and engagement, and she would do best in a home looking for a sporty, energetic partner who’s ready to include her in daily adventures. For someone seeking a smart, fun-loving, loyal companion who can keep up and then curl up, Lilo is ready to leap right into your life and your heart.  Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Nala! This sweet girl is being fostered in east TN. She is not available out of state. She is sweet, funny, lovable, goofy and spunky. She does need a special home though because she is also fear reactive with meeting new people. She is nippy yet takes the correction when she is told not to do something. She has a lot of herding instinct in her and she is literally trying to figure you out and make sure you are not a threat. She is excellent with her people and only reacts this way with new people. She needs a bit of time to trust you before you can pet her. She will take treats but if you try to per her too soon she will let you know she is not ready for that yet. She took about 30 minutes to be ok with us. We gave a few treats and one of us was able to scratch her chin but that was the extent and we had pushed too far she was still to nervous she barked and snipped but never bit or broke skin. 20 minutes later she came to me and (Amy) and put her paw on my thigh and climbed up to me and begged for love. She was craving being loved so much she couldn’t get enough of it. It was a very emotional moment for me because I thought oh boy another one that will never be able to overcome their fear of new people, yet here she was literally melting in my arms and giving kisses and begging for affection. She was in foster care for a year with another rescue and she nipped at a visitor of the foster parents. The rescue placed her in training with a local trainer. She was literally wasting away a whole year of her life with this trainer. The other rescue did not know this was the case. She spent the majority of that year in a crate. That trainer did her no good at all, the methods she used to attempt to have Nala meet new people made Nala even more fearful than she already was. She was forced into muzzle (hey muzzles are great tools if you know how to use them correctly) and forced by leash to be handed over to other trainers whom she did not know nor was given the time to get to know and she reacted out of fear. She tried to bite them and it was quite traumatic for her to endure. She needed to be given time on a leash to see these people at a distance and learn what they were about before meeting them hands on. Here we allow her to meet new people but these people are not allowed to touch her unless we tell them it’s ok and it’s ok when Nala asks for it that is when she trusts that person. Once she trusts she is golden. Is it the best behavior for a dog to have,? absolutely not but it is her and we have done the best we can for her. She is not aggressive and per the other trainer said she should be euthanized she was unadoptable. Well here we are having met her and given her time she is a big baby and she also has met our friends and family on occasion and with proper guidance she is doing amazing. She is an excellent protective companion and very intelligent. She needs an experienced owner who can guide her when meeting new people. She will always have a home with us if she never finds that perfect home. She is truly just too amazing and loving to euthanize. She is just misunderstood and that year was more of a setback than a help to her. She is house trained. Current on vaccines, chipped, spayed and heartworm negative. She is well behaved in the home and is not destructive. She walks well on a leash and knows a few basic commands. She is as devoted and loyal as they come. If you give her the chance you will be rewarded significantly by her acceptance and love. She is worth it, her life is worth it! Apply at petpath.org

Story
Sweet Dixie has been at the rescue for a little over a year. The group of dogs that she entered care with were quickly adopted out. She is still waiting. Dixie was a young mom who had to scrounge for food while living outside. She no longer has to wonder where her next meal is coming from, but she is still wondering when someone will choose her. Dixie is more than willing to jump up on your shoulders and find her perfect perch to protect the herd, but she is equally as cool finding a little corner of your world to catch some much needed relaxation. She is great with several sizes of puppies and potty and crate trained. Being a heeler, she is very smart and quick to learn. She really wants to please. Dixie would love to find a home where she feels secure and can be active or not. She will need time to settle in and get used to the routines of the household. Dixie is a sweet girl with a lot of love to give. She is what a warm hug would look like in doggy form. Wanna find a perfect rescue? Well, here she is.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN.
