Story
Through no fault of his own, tiny baby Jax found himself at a crowded Louisiana pound in early March. He was soon pulled by a local rescue and has been thriving and growing in foster care ever since. We aren't sure of Jax's history or breed make up, but our best guess is Border Collie x Australian Shepherd mix. As of May 14th, he is 4 months old and weighs 26 lbs. We expect him to be around 50 lbs at maturity. Jax's foster mom says, "He is playful and LOVES toys, especially his giant turtle... when he was smaller, he curled up and slept on it and now he still tries to sleep on his turtle. There aren't many things that Jax does not love but some of his favorites are: playing outside, playing with our dog, playing with the neighborhood kids, playing in water, food (he is VERY food motivated and eats from a slow feeder bowl). He is doing well with learning to potty outside. He will whine/bark when he needs to go outside. He has the cutest little ears and really seems to listen when you talk to him and even tilts his head from side to side. He sleeps quietly through the night in his crate and does listen if you tell him "no"." Jax is a wonderful pup who has had a great start in foster care and is now ready for a forever family to continue his training and help him grow up to be the best boy he can be! Jax's album with more photos + video clips: https://photos.app.goo.gl/BytYMFQbPVhucrzG7 You may have to copy and paste the link into your browser. Jax has completed his full series of puppy shots and is current on heartworm/flea/tick prevention and deworming. He will be neutered and microchipped in late May and then will be ready to travel to his forever home! Jax is currently in foster care in North Louisiana, but we welcome out of state adoptions. We have an amazing transport that delivers all along the East Coast... PA, NJ, CT, NY, VT. PAWS of NE LA was formed back in 2003, and we have been sending our special Southern dogs to wonderful homes up North since 2010.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.JASPER and his 5 siblings were born after their mum, was saved from a large hoarding case in Northern Texas (April 2026) where the American Humane were involved due to the scale of abuse and neglect. "Sweetie" their mum was heavily pregnant and had a rotted, infected foot/leg that caused her leg to need amputation. Luckily she was saved and was able to give birth to 6 healthy pups in the safety of the local animal control department and their foster team. After getting vetted and old enough to travel (8 wks) they arrived safely at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on 28 May 2026. We had planned to take their mum, Sweetie along with the pups, but we are happy to share that she was a Foster-Fail down in Texas. We welcome adopters from across the East Coast and Canada — many of our families travel to meet and take home their new best friend! Health & Background Estimated date of birth: 31 March 2026 ✅ NEUTERED ✅ Core vaccines up to date - too young for Rabies ✅ Monthly preventatives ✅ Microchipped with 24PetWatch - registered with Free Pet Chip Registry. ⚖️ Weight approx. 10 pounds at end of May   Our adoption fee's are $550 per dog/pup or $1,000 for two. She does walk on the leash and rides good in the car. I cannot say she is house-trained as she has access to outside pretty much all day and does go outside, but she won't know to let you know she needs to go out - so you must be prepared to help her learn. We are looking for an active family who understands the need of mental stimulation as well as the physical exercise for this intelligent active girl Our adoption fee's are $550 per dog/pup or $1,000 for two. Story
Sequoia, affectionately known as Quoia, is a 7-year-old, 40 lb, spayed female Border Collie/Catahoula mix looking for a loving forever home. Quoia is a devoted, affectionate companion who thrives on being close to her person. Whether she's curled up beside you on the couch or joining you on a long hike, she's happiest simply being with the people she loves. She enjoys hiking, long walks, swimming, and exploring, making her a wonderful adventure buddy, but she's just as content spending hours snuggled up at home. She's very well trained, has excellent recall, and is eager to please. Quoia loves making her humans proud and responds well to positive attention and routine. Outside of the home, Quoia greets other dogs in a friendly and respectful manner, but prefers to rule the roost inside her home. Although she lives with another dog currently, she can be protective of food/toys and we feel she would be happiest as an only pet in an adult only home. She can be nervous around certain triggers, such as loud noises and even folding laundry, so she'll do best in a calm environment with patient, understanding adults who can help her feel safe and secure. Quoia's ideal home: One or two adults No children No other pets Country/relaxed setting Someone looking for a loyal, loving best friend Quoia has so much love to give. She's sweet, gentle, incredibly loyal, and deeply devoted to her people. She's looking for someone who will cherish her for the wonderful dog she is and give her the calm, loving home she deserves. If you're searching for a faithful companion to share adventures, quiet evenings, and unconditional love, Quoia could be the perfect match.
