Story
Noodles is a 10-month-old Border Collie x Australian Cattle Dog mix. He is very sweet and his housetraining is in progress. He is an enthusiastic boy and would do best if other dogs are a similar size & activity level. Noodles has been exposed to a variety of activities and would love to do some type of nosework! He has been introduced to agility and would possibly enjoy dabbling in that when he gets older. Barn hunt and dock diving were not something he was eager to participate in. He is approximately 20-21″ at the withers and about 35 lbs. He is current on vaccines. He has some food sensitivities and is currently doing best on 4Health Beef & Potato. He is eager to please and would love to be your buddy!

Story
Rumi is a 1-year-old, 38-lb girl who thrives on affection and human connection. She absolutely loves being around people and seeks out contact whenever she can—wiggling with excitement, leaning in for pets, and happily soaking up attention. Human companionship is clearly her favorite thing, and she bonds quickly with those who give her time and kindness. Rumi is a pro in the car. She typically lays right down and settles in for a nap. She can jump in on her own, though she sometimes needs a little boost for her back legs, and she hops out easily with gentle encouragement. She has had positive experiences in public and handles new environments well, showing curiosity and interest without reactivity to nearby dogs. On leash, Rumi walks with some pulling (and the cutest ear flops), and she is extremely treat motivated. She knows “sit” and would be an excellent candidate for continued training, as food is a huge motivator for her. Toys like balls and frisbees don’t hold much interest, but snacks absolutely do—she’ll sniff out food anywhere. She is crate trained and settles well in her crate. Rumi can get easily excitable and sometimes forgets her manners, popping up for kisses or becoming mouthy when overstimulated. When off leash, she may grab clothes or use her mouth to seek attention, so she needs a strong, confident handler who can redirect her appropriately. She is still working on potty training and will need patience and consistency as she learns. These behaviors appear to be stress-induced, and Rumi would greatly benefit from regular mental and physical stimulation to help her decompress and feel secure. With structure, enrichment, and clear boundaries, she has so much potential to shine. She would likely do well with another dog who has good manners and can help model healthy boundaries. Rumi is a loving, affectionate dog who truly wants connection. In a patient home that understands her needs and is willing to guide her, she will blossom into a devoted and joyful companion. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. Rumi is currently being fostered by All American Pet Resorts where he participates in daily play groups with other dogs! To meet Rumi, call AAPR at 336-814-9758 to make an appointment!
