Story
Astrid is a five year old border collie mix that is mostly deaf. My daughter adopted her from a shelter when she was a puppy. My daughter had a female golden retriever as well and they got along but would sometimes fight. A shock collar was tried in training to keep them from fighting and we suspect that my daughters boyfriend misused it on Astrid which has caused her to be fearful of men. We also suspect that she may have had a traumatic experience early on and she needs an experienced person to work with her to get her to her full potential. She tolerates our other older small male dog but is fearful of other dogs and many things actually. Her fear and not understanding situations has manifested into her biting my husband a few times. On these occasions he moved quickly or was carrying an object. Astrid with her herder breed instincts comes around behind and bites on the back of the leg. She is sweet and needs more training than we can provide.

Story
It is with heavy hearts that we are looking to find a new home for our 7-year-old deaf Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix. About him: * 7 years old * Deaf since puppyhood * Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix * Crate trained and does well in his crate at home for several hours * Wonderful with children * Generally does well with other dogs, but would probably do best as the only dog in the home. * Affectionate, loyal, and bonds deeply with his people His biggest challenge is anxiety in unfamiliar environments. While he is calm and comfortable at home, he can become destructive when left alone in places that aren’t familiar to him, such as when being boarded or staying in someone else’s home. We believe he would do best with someone who has a stable routine, understands herding breeds, and can provide a predictable home environment. We’re committed to finding him the right family—not just the first one. We want a home where he’ll be safe, understood, and given the opportunity to succeed.

Story
*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT *** Meet Annie! She is currently in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is almost ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'down', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. This lean gal is ready to meet her new people. Annie is a social dog and will gladly say hi to everyone. She gets the zoomies for no reason and it's the cutest thing we've ever seen! She enjoys all the dogs, big and small, male and female that she has been paired with. Annie does well in her kennel and seems to be housetrained. The only thing we have found that Annie is not fond of is cats. True to her collie heritage, she thinks they are prey and something that needs chased. Annie will be ready to meet and mingle with her new family towards the end of July. Apply to meet Annie today!
