Story
Meet Rachel! Rachel is an 8-year-old, 45-pound Schnauzer mix of something who is looking for a special family to spend her retirement years with. Whatever else may be in her DNA, it has given Rachel plenty of personality! Rachel is a sweet girl who loves being close to her humans. She’s happiest hanging out by your side during the day and loves sleeping next to your bed at night. She’s looking for a home where she can enjoy the comforts of family life and have a person—or people—of her very own. Rachel is both house trained and crate trained, although she hasn’t needed to use a crate in many years. She does well with dogs her size or larger, but Rachel has her own unique way of communicating. When she’s excited, happy, or “talking,” she makes some unusual sounds that other dogs don’t always understand, which can occasionally make introductions a little awkward. Given a proper introduction and a dog who appreciates her unique vocabulary, she can do well with canine companions. Rachel would prefer a home without small dogs and would be best suited for a family with older children. At 8 years old, Rachel isn’t looking for chaos—she’s looking for companionship, a comfortable place to relax, and someone who appreciates a mature girl who knows what she likes. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily keep you company during the day and sleep beside your bed at night, Rachel may be the special girl you’ve been waiting for.    If you are interested in adopting Rachel, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age. **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. ** October 3, 2026, 8:41 am
