Story
Meet Rachel! Rachel is an 8-year-old, 45-pound Schnauzer mix of something who is looking for a special family to spend her retirement years with. Whatever else may be in her DNA, it has given Rachel plenty of personality! Rachel is a sweet girl who loves being close to her humans. She’s happiest hanging out by your side during the day and loves sleeping next to your bed at night. She’s looking for a home where she can enjoy the comforts of family life and have a person—or people—of her very own. Rachel is both house trained and crate trained, although she hasn’t needed to use a crate in many years. She does well with dogs her size or larger, but Rachel has her own unique way of communicating. When she’s excited, happy, or “talking,” she makes some unusual sounds that other dogs don’t always understand, which can occasionally make introductions a little awkward. Given a proper introduction and a dog who appreciates her unique vocabulary, she can do well with canine companions. Rachel would prefer a home without small dogs and would be best suited for a family with older children. At 8 years old, Rachel isn’t looking for chaos—she’s looking for companionship, a comfortable place to relax, and someone who appreciates a mature girl who knows what she likes. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily keep you company during the day and sleep beside your bed at night, Rachel may be the special girl you’ve been waiting for.    If you are interested in adopting Rachel, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age. **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. ** October 15, 2026, 10:36 am

Story
Please contact Candace (ccrnewengland@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Some puppies are simply easy to picture in your life, and beautiful Winnie is one of those special girl puppies. Can you picture a happy little face following you into the backyard, chasing a ball, exploring every corner, and then coming back to you because being near her people is really the best part? That is Winnie. She is playful without being wild, curious without being reckless, and affectionate without needing to be glued to you every second. She is a puppy who wants to be involved in life with her family.Winnie was born July 11 as one of twelve puppies to a beautiful red, scruffy Border Terrier mix mama. She has been raised in a wonderful foster environment surrounded by children, other dogs, and adults who have handled, cuddled, and socialized her from the beginning. Those early experiences have helped Winnie become a confident, loving puppy who is ready to continue learning with her forever family. We think Winnie will be an especially wonderful fit for a family who enjoys being together and wants a dog who can grow up alongside them. She would love a fenced yard for those backyard adventures, a family willing to play fetch and teach her new things, and people who will appreciate her sweet, thoughtful nature. She is smart and eager to learn, so a family who enjoys training and watching a puppy discover her talents will have a lot of fun with her.Winnie is expected to grow into a beautiful 45–50 pound girl with a short coat. She is still very much a puppy, which means she is also in the “everything goes in my mouth” phase. Fingers are currently competing with chew toys for her attention, so we feel older children, 10+, would be the best fit. She will need patient adults who can give her consistent guidance and redirect that puppy enthusiasm toward appropriate toys. But underneath those puppy teeth is a girl with an enormous capacity to love. Winnie is thoughtful, affectionate, playful, and wonderfully curious. She is going to be the kind of dog who learns your routines, knows when it is time to play and when it is time to settle down, and eventually becomes the companion who seems to have always belonged there. If you are looking for a puppy who can be your backyard playmate, your adventure buddy, your student, your shadow, and eventually your best friend, Winnie may be exactly the girl you have been waiting for.Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com     October 16, 2026, 3:05 pm
