Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Dezi is from Texas. She was surrendered by her previous owners in Texas and brought into rescue with Ruff Start.  This sweet girl is already leash trained and crate trained.  Dezi likes a crate to use as "Her spot", and will willingly go there when she feels overwhelmed, but she really loves her humans and prefers to be with them all the time.  Her current texan foster family lets her sleep with them and that's what Dezi truly prefers.  Dezi is also potty trained, but we always expect some regression during periods of change.  If kept on a consistent schedule of potty breaks and kenneling when gone she should be back on track right away.   Dezi was a bit skeptical of her current foster family when she arrived.  She was pretty aloof for a bout 4 days and then she woke up that fourth day and decided.. these guys aren't so bad after all.  She bonded with her foster mom immediately, but will avoid her foster Dad and most other men.  Nothing that he did, most likely past trauma from a male.  Dezi's whole world is her foster mom.  She is absolutely a people pleasing velcro pup after that decompression time.  Dezi has not been tested with Kitties yet, so slow intros and keeping any resident kitties safe would be advised.  Dezi has also not been around children, but older respectful kids would probably be just fine.   If you're looking for a four legged partner in crime, she's your girl!  If you think that Dezi sounds about as perfect as she can get, go fill out an adoption application today!  She can't wait to meet you!   They arrive in Minnesota on 2/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hunter is settling in beautifully and showing what a wonderful boy he’s becoming. He enjoys going on walks with his foster sibling Bailey and does great heading into the fenced yard for potty breaks. Hunter is sleeping quietly through the night in his kennel and has a healthy appetite - always a great sign that he’s feeling safe and comfortable. Hunter is a gentle soul who is gaining confidence each day as he learns to trust his people. He truly thrives with patience, kindness, and a consistent routine, and it’s been heartwarming to watch his confidence grow. He is doing well with all animals, including other dogs and cats, and while having another animal in the home could be a nice bonus for him, it is not required. Even a calm kitty (or two!) could make wonderful companions. Hunter is also very comfortable around young children, showing a calm and gentle presence with little ones. With continued love and support, Hunter is sure to blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion who will be deeply grateful for a home to call his own. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Linda is a super cute, wiry little lovebug with a big heart and an even bigger desire to be close to her people. She’s friendly with everyone she meets — kids, adults, and other dogs — and truly enjoys being part of the action. If there’s a lap available, Linda is happy to claim it and soak up all the affection she can get. She has a nice moderate energy level, enjoying playtime and toys, then settling in for cuddles and companionship. Linda gets along well with big and small dogs and has been around cats, though she does need to be fed separately due to her past. Coming from a hoarding-type situation, she’s learned that mealtime is her own special space, but outside of that she happily coexists with other dogs and enjoys their company. Linda can be vocal when she sees other dogs, especially if she’s not being held, so she would do best in a home rather than an apartment setting where hallway noise could be stressful. When she’s being held or feels secure, she’s much calmer and content. She’s affectionate, gentle, and loves being close to her humans, making her a great companion for someone who wants a loving little shadow. She came into rescue pregnant and covered in fleas, but with care and love she’s doing great and showing just how sweet she truly is. Linda would thrive in a home that understands her background, feeds her separately, and gives her the affection and reassurance she craves. If you’re looking for a friendly, cuddly, wiry-coated sweetheart who just wants to be loved and included, Linda could be the perfect match! Linda is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 02/07/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon.
