Story
Duke Jackson is an 8 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 21lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Duke is all Boston! He’s an active Boston who loves walks, toys, his crate, mealtime, and so much more!  Duke is an early riser, so it’s the perfect time to take him for an AM walk before it gets too hot, but like a true Boston, he loves to sunbathe too. Duke does great on a leash on walks or casual strolls. He is crate trained and house trained. He LOVES his toys and like to play play play, but he is learning “all done” means it’s time to rest. He currently takes Prozac to help him settle into his new routine, but we believe this could be weened off as he adjusts to life in his new furever home and a stable environment.  Duke would thrive in a home where he was the only dog. Because of his energy level, we recommend a home without children. He has some mildly elevated liver and kidney labs, so we recommend checking those at least once a year to make sure they are staying consistent.  Duke is spunky, funny, cute, and of course a little stubborn - all of the ingredients of a great Boston terrier companion! If you would like to give Duke his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $250. He is being fostered in Nashville, TN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Story
Truman is a 2 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 28lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Truman is just like his name; he is a true gentleman.  He is playful, joyful, and eager to please.   His favorite pastimes are chasing balls, chewing on Benebones and bully sticks, being in social settings, long walks, and tug of war.   He loves to cuddle and snuggle underneath blankets.  He will hide under furniture when he needs to feel safe or is overstimulated. Things to know about Truman in order to match him with the right forever home is that he needs to go to a quiet home.  That means a home with no young children, and no excessively barking dogs. Sometimes he forgets his manners when getting treats, but we are working on that. Truman is also an escape artist, so in his next home he will need safeguards in place to make sure this does not happen, such as a fenced in yard or the use of baby gates. In short, Truman is a very special dog.  He is one of my favorite fosters.  He deserves a loving and affectionate home, and a life of love and joy with people that he should have had from the start. If you would like to give Truman his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $375. He is being fostered in Brevard, NC. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Story
Jill is a 1 year old Boston Terrier mix that weighs about 37lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Meet Jill, a perfectly sweet girl with the cutest perky ears! Jill found herself in rescue when she was found wandering the streets after a snow and ice storm. Some very nice people took her in to save her from freezing outside. We do believe that she was someone's dog at some point, because she knows some commands such as "sit", "shake", and "down", where she lays on her tummy and wants belly rubs. She has the best disposition and is the perfect combo and sweet and fun. She does well with other dogs with proper introductions. She is both crate trained and house trained, will let you know when she needs to go out, and has never had an accident in the house. She loves a good chew toy. Jill loves to lay in the sunshine-thats how bostons recharge :) She would love a yard to run around in and play. She walks on leash with her harness without any issues. After some play, Jill will plop down in her dog bed for some much needed rest. She does well with children of all ages. Jill is a lover and loves to snuggle and hug her humans. Jill has so much love to give and will make someone a wonderful companion! If you would like to give Jill her forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $375. She is being fostered in Bell Buckle, TN. Story
Copper is a 1 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 18lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Copper is a sweet and petite pup with the cutest floppy ears! He may be small in stature, but he is big in puppy energy and personality! Hes a very good boy that loves to play tug of war with his doggie siblings and has a special like for balls and squeaky toys.  Copper currently sleeps with his foster mom in her bed at night. He is house trained and crate trained and used to being crated when home alone. Another plus, Copper also loves kids! When Copper arrived in rescue, we discovered he had elevated liver enzymes. After a thorough negative workup and monitoring, they are trending down, but still not quite normal. For now, he is on a liver support called Denamarin(cost $45 per month). He may need to continue this long term, but he will need another liver enzyme recheck in 6 months and we're hoping the med can be stopped at that time. The rescue will cover the cost of the 6 month lab recheck. Copper will need to have annual liver enzyme rechecks to ensure all is well.                                   If you would like to give Copper his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $375. He is being fostered in Lafayette, IN. Story
Ziggy is a 10 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 17lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Ziggy was surrendered to rescue by his owner due to unforeseen circumstances. He is a sweet and gentle dog that loves cuddles and prefers to sleep in bed with his human. Dont let his age fool you! Ziggy has lots of energy. He loves to play tug, go on long walks, and visit new places and animals. He does great on car rides and loves to go anywhere as long as he is with you. He is good with children and people of all ages. He is crate trained and house trained, and can go about 4-5 hours between potty breaks. He takes a daily medication for urinary frequency that helps him be able to get through the night without a potty break. He is somewhat of an early riser but does sleep through the night. Ziggy has some cloudiness in his eyes called corneal dystrophy, which doesnt affect his vision up close, but his vision is somewhat limited to see things far away. He has great hearing, though, and will come running when you call his name! Although Ziggy loves to chase any creature that enters his yard, he has never caught any :) He gets along great with the cats and horses at his foster home. Ziggy will jump up on you when excited, but in the most gentle way. He knows commands-sit, wait, and all done. He is very food motivated and will do almost anything for a treat. We think Ziggy would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day to spend time with him, go on walks, or play, and give potty breaks. He loves attention, ,is such a good boy,  and has so much love to give! If you would like to give Ziggy his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $250. He is being fostered in Canfield, OH. Story
Helen #24227 is a sweet female mixed breed weighing approximately 47lbs. She is spayed, up to date on shots, flea/tick, wormer, and is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE. She had a cherry eye successfully repaired when she was spayed. Helen’s colors appear different depending on the lighting. She is a very dark brindle. Sadly, she has spent 16 months in the shelter. She is estimated to be 3 years old now. She has playmates, and with proper introduction should be fine in a multi-dog home. She is quite playful and a dog with a matched energy level would be best. She has spent time with children and men and women. No problems with any. We do not have cats and have no way to evaluate behavior with them.
