Story
*AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT WHILE FINISHING HEARTWORM TREATMENT!* The many faces of our goofy girl Sage belong in a museum. Have you ever seen a hippopotamus this majestic in your entire life? No, you most certainly have not. She is one of several recent HW+ dogs saved from animal control. She and her sunny outlook on life clearly missed the memo that heartworm treatment isn't supposed to be fun, and it's with this kind of positivity that Sage tackles just about everything. We think she has a good point-why get stressed when you can be a doofus instead? If that's something you could use more of on a daily basis, then you're in luck! You don't have to wait a second longer to bring home your new BFF, because this happy-go-lucky house hippo is available for foster-to-adopt while finishing treatment! We'll make it official the second she has her clean bill of health.

Story
Roxy is a boxer mix that I got in February 2021 at the Phenix City animal shelter. She was born around October-November 2020. Roxy is an extremely sweet dog. She loves people and LOVES kids. She has a ton of energy but also loves snuggling and cuddling. Trust me, she will TAKE OVER your bed if you let her sleep with you. As much as it pains me and my children, I just cannot give her the life she needs. We are an extremely busy family and Roxy has to spend a lot of time alone as a result. She would be perfect for a family with kids, maybe even one with a stay-at-home parent that can spend a lot more time with her than I can.

Story
PERSONALITY: Hi, I’m Gaia and I’m basically a Beyoncé song—independent, smart, and LOYAL. My foster humans also say I’m gentle and kind, traits I perfected during those early days of motherhood. (My puppies all found their forever homes months ago, but I’m still searching for my own happily ever after. Thankfully, I’m so easygoing that it doesn't hurt my feelings.) SOCIAL SKILLS: I’m a big fan of other dogs who can match my vibe but am equally happy on my own. No cats, please. (Litter boxes? Really? Gross.) DREAM HOME: I’m not picky, but if I could only put one thing on my “must have” list, it would be a backyard for zoomies and naps in the sunshine. I def wouldn’t complain if there was a comfy couch I just happened to be allowed on. FAVE ACTIVITIES: Sunbathing, people-watching, long walks, and cuddling (especially cuddling) TRAINING NEEDS: I’m crate-trained and will hop right in on command, so you don’t have to worry about coming home to any surprise art projects. Although I’m strong (again… independent woman), I’ve been working hard on my leash skills just to impress you. With a patient teacher and some extra snacks, I know I can master anything you throw my way. THE FINE PRINT: I’m 2ish-years-old and most likely a boxer/staffy mix. Hello, have you seen my gorgeous brindle coat? I’m spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and receive my monthly preventatives like clockwork.

Story
So. I love my ladybug and I truly hate doing this but I think it is in her best interest because she needs a home to be free. We have 2 senior cats and young adult cats who dont care for a young energetic curious dog. And she is very interested in them. I don't know if it's play or not but she could easily hurt them. Sonwr only allow them innsamenroom of we are present. Some times she has been alone a few minutes and done nothing but we dont know. Today she chased oldest senior cat and my husband got very upset and now doesn't want her near the cats. Kinda difficult inna house. Ladybug very very spoiled. She will be 2 in May. She was the last baby of my sons dogs. Nobody chose her sober kept her because she didnt want to leave her mom. Last January 2025 Lady and her father dog got bout at my son's house and she got hit by a car. She ended up a tripawd...3 legs. This doesn't hold her back. She's fast and happy. She uses pee pads still. I just want her to be happy.

Story
Meet MeiMei — A Playful Spirit Full of Joy MeiMei is a bright and happy dog whose personality shines through in everything she does. She is playful, energetic, and full of enthusiasm for life, especially when she gets to be active and spend time outdoors. MeiMei is the kind of dog who loves being part of the action and will thrive in a home that enjoys movement, play, and adventure. An active lifestyle would suit her best, as she loves being outside and enjoys opportunities to play and explore. She is crate trained and can rest inside, though it’s clear she much prefers being out and involved with her people. MeiMei is still working on being fully house trained, but she already understands basic commands such as sit, stay, and “no,” and continues to build good habits with consistency and patience. MeiMei has been raised around young children and has proven herself to be wonderful with them. She has lived with kids as young as two and five years old, as well as other young relatives, and has always been gentle, tolerant, and appropriate. She also does very well with other dogs and has lived happily with multiple canine companions. MeiMei is looking for a loving home that can match her energy, continue her training, and include her as a true family member. With her joyful nature, social personality, and loving heart, she’s ready to bring fun, affection, and companionship to her future home. If you're interested in meeting her, please contact Marco at (910) 725-9636. Disclaimer: All pets posted and adopted through Neighborhood Pets are not members of Paws Humane Society. Story
Mike from HR was abandoned when his owner moved away and left him behind. When he arrived, he was very underweight — a clear sign he hadn’t been properly cared for in some time. Despite that, he has shown resilience and is working on regaining both weight and stability. He is not fond of cats and should not be placed in a home with them. Mike does best with structure and supervision, especially while he is still settling in physically and hormonally after his recent neuter. The challenges: -Abandoned and came in underweight; still rebuilding physically. -Not suitable for homes with cats. -Recently neutered and displaying hormonally driven behaviors. The good stuff: -He and the other dog were able to coexist at times. -Has shown resilience despite neglect and abandonment. Who he needs: Mike would benefit from a structured home with clear boundaries and consistent supervision, especially during introductions to other dogs. A dog-savvy adopter willing to reintroduce him slowly after his hormones have had time to decrease would be ideal. A cat-free home is recommended. With weight gain, stability, and time for his hormones to level out, Mike has the potential to be a much more balanced companion. He just needs someone willing to give him that chance.
