Meet Alf! This 7-month-old Boxer mix is named after the lovable TV alien, and much like his namesake, he’s figuring out life on a brand-new planet one brave step at a time. He currently weighs 33.5 pounds and is still growing into himself. When Alf first arrived at a local animal shelter, the world felt overwhelming. He pancaked to the floor, unsure of what to expect and how to navigate all the new sights, sounds, and smells. Thanks to patient, gentle staff and a whole lot of encouragement, Alf has made huge progress and is truly coming out of his shell. New things can still feel intimidating for him, but Alf is learning that good things happen when he’s brave. Each day brings a little more confidence, a little more curiosity, and glimpses of the sweet, goofy Boxer mix he’s becoming. Alf is looking for a home that understands confidence grows at its own pace and is ready to cheer him on as he continues his glow-up into a happy, secure companion. Hi! My name is Jax, and I’m a 4 year boxer/pit mix who weighs 50 lbs. I’m super sweet and absolutely love being around people. I’m very much a cuddle bug (and think I’m a lap dog). I’ve also been very happy playing with other dogs. Cats have not been my favorite though. Walks are one of my favorite things and I walk well on a leash. I also love running around in the yard and playing fetch with tennis balls. They’re cool, but my absolute favorite are stuffies that squeak. I can entertain myself with them but also will beg to play tug of war. I’m also super smart and already know sit, lie down, stay, crate, right, come, and paw. I’m energetic and active but also settle fast and am happy to cuddle or sleep in my bed. Although, I have separation anxiety and get stressed when alone, so I would do best in a home where I’m not alone for too long. Sometimes, I let out a light growl when a door opens into the house or a room. It seems like I do it out of caution, but immediately relax once I know who it is. I tend to be a little more weary of men than women in that regard. I currently sleep in my bed next to my foster mom’s bed, but should do fine in a crate in the room as well.
