Story
To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(Home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. COURTESY POST---This handsome boy is NOT with our rescue, he is with his family right now and we are helping them to find a wonderful home for Cooper. You can look at his pictures and see that Cooper is a very much loved family member. He has had a wonderful life with his people, and his other dog pal. And he really is an awesome guy, full of life and exuberance. But, that occasional over the top personality is a little too much for a family that just welcomed a newborn. So, no judgement there, they are just trying to make the best decisions for their baby as well as Cooper. Cooper is a 5 year old Pitbull mix. The family had initially adopted him a few years ago from a rescue, he had been left tied to a tree at some point in his life and was also heartworm positive. He has been treated for the heartworms and he is a healthy, robust and fully vetted boy. Cooper has lived with his other dog buddy and does well. Occasionally they play a little too rough(of course!) when they get a bit excited. He also lives with a cat that he wants to play with, however, the cat is not that interested in playing with Cooper, lol. Cooper's family says that he can be a little bit of an energy overload at times, he gets so exited meeting new people and dogs, gets excited about being outside and will jump on people and even has a big waggy tail that can hurt a little bit on the receiving end, lol. He is on some calming meds at this point, but perhaps could wean off of them in a small child free and also an active home to burn off some of that energy. Cooper's family has been working with a trainer and he is doing well. HE knows, sit, lay, shake and is doing well with place training on a mat, as well as a slip lead for a calming control device. When Cooper is not enjoying all the excitement of his life he is also a very laid back guy. If you are relaxing, well, he is right there with you. Cooper is a professional snuggler and loves to be by your side, keeping your feet warm in bed, or cozied up for some Netflix! Cooper will most likely do better in a rural situation where he does not have as many distractions such as other dogs, people cars and such to get him overly excited. Cooper is an extra special guy that deserves all the best. His family is hoping to find an active, loving home, older kids would be best. He lives with another male dog now, but really does well with older female dogs. If you have an awesome home for an awesome dog, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

Story
Fawn came into our facility as a stray back in September of 2023. She was running loose for quite some time and unfortunately had a severe skin infection which has now since cleared. We are not sure of her age but are estimating her age to be around 2 years old. She is a very sweet girl and loves people. Her adoption fee is NO CHARGE and she just needs an amazing forever home. She will be spayed prior to adoption, has been vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped. Please call 630-553-9256 if interested in scheduling an appointment to meet Fawn.

Story
Mittens is an approximately 1 year old male Pitbull mix. He was brought in as a stray at just 17.4 lbs and absolutely skeletal. Mittens is now feeling MUCH better and weighs 28 lbs and is now looking for his forever home. Mittens has been around some dogs, he does get overstimulated at times and can be very rough with his playing with other dogs. He can be a little snappy about taking treats and for this and a few other reasons we recommend him being placed with a family with older or no children. His adoption fee is $120 and includes his neuter, microchip, negative heartworm test and vaccinations. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov to start the adoption process.

Story
Apollo is a 2 year old male Pitbull mix who was brought to us as the owner no longer had time for him and had small children in the home who were scared of his energy levels. He is an active boy and would do best in a home with older children, and no small animals like cats or bunnies. He has gotten along with some dogs and doesn't like others. His adoption fee is $120 and includes his neuter, microchip, vaccinations and negative heartworm test.

Story
Meet Bubba. Bubba has a bit of a sad story. He is a Pitbull(?) maybe Hound mix who has lived with his owner for his whole life. He is 8 years old. Recently, his owner became ill and was hospitalized. He was released from the hospital and came back for Bubba, as he was his everything. His owner was again later hospitalized and unfortunately this time, his owner passed away.. and so Bubba is now here. He is looking for his very own forever home to help him through his loss and love him like his last owner did. Bubba is a pretty healthy boy, but does have a rectal mass that does not bother him at this time. Eventually this may be an issue but for now it is not. He is house trained and does not make a mess of his kennel. He lived with another female dog in the home previously and seems to do ok with others here. His adoption fee is $120 and he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative.

Story
Bubba is 3 years old has a very good temperament. We have two kids, great with kids. Cage trained and walks amazing on leash. Bubba is from a breeder (all paperwork available), he did not have allergies when we got him, but sadly developed them and is more than we can handle at this time. Allergy testing was done and found he is allergic to a lot, including our species of wood floors in our house, so in hopes he would do a lot better in another home. Allergy testing results available. Unfortunately we no longer have the time or money to put into him. He is a good dog that deserves a better home than we can provide right now. Thank you. (The last photo is when he is badly flared, which is not always the case).
