Story
Babie is a Boxer/Greyhound/Pitbull mix, born appx June 2021. Babie is a sweet and friendly girl. She is housebroken and crate trained. She is an athletic girl, enjoys being active and needs a fenced yard with a TALL fence - no short 4' fences for this girl! Bonus points if you have a large yard with room for her to run and stretch her legs! She is also leash trained and would love it if her person enjoys being active just as much as she does. Sometimes she can be reactive to other dogs while out walking. Babie gets along with kids, but sometimes she is not too sure of them. She has too much energy for little kids and would probably be okay with age 6 and older. Babie does not like to share her food. She needs her own personal space for meals so she feels comfortable. Help us find Babie a new home! The suggested adoption donation for Babie is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Before applying to adopt Babie, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. This will also allow you to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers.       Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Layla is an adult Boxer (born 2021).  Layla is eager to be loved and is a great snuggle partner when it's time to wind down or go to sleep.  She's housebroken, crate trained and friendly with other dogs. Layla needs a family of adults who are energetic and able to help Layla burn off all her energy and provide mental stimulation for her.   Her new owners must be patient and willing to work with Layla as she learns how to control her energy.   She doesn't understand yet that she can't be rough when playing with younger people.  The perfect home for Layla would have no children (or possibly older kids age 13+) and a fenced yard to run around in.    Layla does like to bark or nip when excited or when she's being protective of her family.  She will sometimes seem nervous or stressed.   The suggested adoption donation for Layla is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
Banjo is a Boxer mix, born May 2024.  He is such a sweet boy, loves walks and being with people! The perfect home for Banjo will be with a family that enjoys an active and fun day of playing, walking and snuggles at the end of the day.  He gets along well with older kids (age 10+).  Banjo LOVES his people and is very eager to please.  Banjo was surrendered by his owner because he had Parvo.  This resilient boy beat Parvo and has been waiting for his own home and family!  He has a very loving demeanor, but needs to be the only dog in the home.  He is crate trained, potty trained, walks great on a leash and knows sit, stay, and shake.    Banjo would absolutely love to find his people!  Please consider applying to adopt him!   The suggested adoption donation for Banjo $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Story
Sage is an adorable pup (born Feb 2025) with a sweet and loving personality. He is a Boxer/Husky mix.  Sage is a happy, playful pup who loves spending time outdoors, especially playing with sticks! Sage is great with other dogs and enjoys romping and playing with the resident dog.  Due to his having always been with another dog and his preference to have a playmate we are looking for a home with another dog his size or larger. He adores toys - rope toys are his favorite! Sage is kennel trained and making great progress with potty training. While he may be a little shy around new people at first, he quickly warms up and shows his affectionate side once he feels comfortable. Sage also loves being in the kitchen while you’re cooking and has a particular fondness for vegetables! He is good around kids, though he’s still learning and doesn’t yet distinguish between dog toys and kid toys. He has a sensitive stomach and is currently on a Pro Plan EN Gastroenteric food. Car rides can also upset his tummy. Sage is a loving, playful, and loyal companion ready to find his forever home. Sage is from Kira's Litter!  Kira's puppies were born 2/1/25 in Texas and traveled to Nebraska with high hopes of finding their own special home.   The suggested adoption donation for Sage is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
FOSTER UPDATE: Three cheers for foster parents! Welcome to a little "magic moment" of rescue... Nova Lee's foster mom has been working with her on "stay" for some time and we are happy to share that it's been worth every minute. Nova Lee is no longer a door bolter! This smart girl is heading on to her next command "place," so her future family can look forward to a very smart, well-behaved sweetheart that's probably better trained than any teenager in the house... Nova Lee is a fun-loving Boxer Terrier who was born in April of 2016!  Nova Lee is a smart, busy girl who loves playing fetch, long walks, squirrel watching, and yard games; she's also quite the explorer so will need a backyard with a 6' fence to keep her close to home. She is a friendly girl who gets along with all people but she does NOT enjoy sharing her space with other dogs or cats.... as far as Nova's concerned she's the only 4-legged friend you'll need! She knows basic commands like "sit," "shake," and "ball," but her future family might be interested in working on "stay" --  Nova has learned indoor manners and is perfectly content keeping your spot on the couch warm while you're away from home. Because of these good manners she is not kenneled regularly, but on the rare occassion when she is (out of town visits with family, for example) she pouts for a bit but settles down on her own. Nova is 100% housebroken and will whine to indicate that she needs to go outside to potty. Nova is working on her leash manners... she gets excited and pulls but is working through it with her foster family. According to her foster mom, Nova growls when you play tug of war with her but in a playful way; however, due to her high energy and playful personaiity we think that any kids in her future home should be over the age of 15. Recently, her foster mom discovered that Nova has taken a liking to a particular house slipper... she says that Nova doesn't chew on it she just carries it to her bed and sleeps with it like a stuffed animal! This sweetheart is eager to find a family that will give her the attention, love, and all the birthday cake she deserves! NOTICE:  Nova is dog reactive and is working with a trainer on this behavior.  However, she WILL REQUIRE adopter to work with a trainer free of charge to provide a continuity to her training and help her transition to a new home. The suggested adoption donation for Nova Lee is $265. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Story
Here comes Freya, an adult Boxer/Catahoula mix, born July 2020.  She's ready for her second chance and a new place! Freya is an energetic and sweet girl.  She is housebroken, crate trained and leash trained.  She gets along with adults and new people.  She loves being active and needs a fenced yard so she can run.  She responds well to regular walks and runs on a daily basis.  Freya knows how to fetch and she knows some commands. Freya enjoys dining alone and will need her own personal space away from others at meal time.  She doesn't like to be bothered while she's eating!  The perfect family will understand that Freya still needs some training and they will be able to give her frequent exercise.  Because Freya is so energetic and doesn't know her own strength, she would not do well aorund small children - she might be okay around older kids (age 13+).
