- Shy pup who may need extra time to warm up to new people and things; will likely open up in a home environment with patience and time and may prefer a calm, quiet home- Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro required)- May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs - Does well on a leash - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. Ruby Doo is a Boxer/Heeler mix with a soft spirit and a whole lot of potential. She came to us a little unsure of the world, but every day she opens up more — offering shy tail wags, leaning in for gentle pets, and showing us the goofy, loving pup she’s becoming. Her Boxer side gives her that expressive face and tender heart, while her Heeler side brings the smarts and loyalty that make her such a rewarding companion. Ruby Doo will thrive with someone who understands that confidence grows with patience, routine, and love. She’s ready to bond deeply with her person — the kind of dog who will quietly follow you from room to room and blossom into your most devoted friend. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2711572##
