Story
Millie is a sweet gray and white Boxer/Pit Bull mix born in August 2014. This 45-pound girl has a solid gold heart. She's so full of love and wants to share it with every person she meets. Millie is friendly with strangers and kids of all ages.
PERSONALITY -- A people-lover through and through, Millie is affectionate, loyal and happiest when she's by your side. She enjoys games of fetch, leisurely walks and cozying up on the couch (pillow arrangement very much included). She wouldn't mind having a lap for snuggling too! At night, she's your devoted snuggle buddy.
TRAINING -- She knows basic commands like sit, place, wait and she's making steady progress on leash manners every day.
THE BEST ENVIRONMENT -- Millie does best in a calm, patient home where someone is around often, as she's working through separation anxiety. In the past, this has led to broken kennels and destructive behavior when she's benn unable to be near her people, something to keep in mind as you set her up for success.
Millie thrives with positive reinforcement and consistency, and her confidence grows a little more each day. While she has lived with other dogs before, they were much smaller than her, so we believe she'd be best suited as the only dog in the home.
Millie would thrive in a single dog family household where she can be the center of attention. Having a group of people that can help work with her on her separation anxiety would do wonders for her.
THINGS TO WORK ON -- Millie struggles with separation anxiety. In her previous home, she would break out of kennels and sometimes have accidents when left alone. She also doesn't seem to like knowing you're home but she can't reach on. This is something that's gotten better over time as she felt more comfortable, but should be addressed as she moves into her new home.
She's only been in her current home for 3 months and has not been able to adjust with another dog in the house. Millie was with her previous family for 8 wonderful years. She is READY to find her new forever home.
Millie is fully vaccinated and currently on a few medications to help manage her anxiety and incontinence.
Millie doesn't need a perfect home, just a patient one. If you can offer her stability, love and a soft place to land, she will give you everything she has in return.
The suggested adoption donation for Millie is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.
Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.
Before applying to adopt Millie, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.
Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.
Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
