Story
I was a stray brought in from Laurie.I have completed my training at Jeff City Correctional Center and ready to go! Here are a few things they learned about me. I seem to have some vision problems with my right eye. It comes from my difficult past before I came to the shelter. It is best to feed me treats from the left so I can see you clearly and get the treat and not your fingers. I LOVE a good game of fetch, but hate giving up the ball when I get back. If you show me another ball, though, I will release the first one. I am ok with people and dogs, but need to learn to trust and take some time to warm up to strangers and new dogs. Primary Color: Brown Weight: 56 Age: 5yrs 10mths 2wks

Story
* Reach this dog's foster contact at SaveMeAdoptMe@gmail.com or text / leave a message at 573-512-2102 .*Chico is a boxer & australian shepherd or cattle dog mix, 55 lbs, loves to be a lap dog, spoken to, played with, and most of all loves playing with other dogs. Don't know about cats. He takes a bit to build trust and has a hard time with inconsistent schedules. He is crate and potty trained and very familiar with commands. Chico is a very smart, loving dog who loves to be loyal to the people he trusts and is looking for an adult-only home. He's good with children that he is familiar with, but now that his kids are growing up and having friends over, Chico seems to be having a harder time feeling comfortable around the kids' friends. He shows fear of them by his barking, which intimidates people and kids. He went to a trainer for 6 weeks that had helped the family guide him with his sensitivity towards unfamiliar people. They have been doing what they learned from training, such as putting him on a leash on his outdoor bed until he feels comfortable and then release him. Once he starts acting protective, they would have him in stay position, which he responds well with and walk over to him to assure him he’s safe. Other times when the kids have lots of friends over, his mom would have him leashed to her training belt till he’s completely calmed and each kid has said hello by either petting him with and without a treat, then release him. He seemed responsive until recently when he nipped a nephew's ankle. His family is sick about the thought of giving him up. But they know it is necessary to find a new less active, loving home that has at least one other dog as he loves being around dogs over people.Contact this animals foster home at SaveMeAdoptMe@gmail.com or text or leave a message at 573-512-2102. Story
* Contact this dog's foster home at SaveMeAdoptMe@gmail.com or text / leave a message at 573-512-2102 .*Sweet Lucy and her sister were found with serious injuries. Xrays showed both were shot, Lucy through an eye. They were extremely skinny but so excited for attention and grateful for being able sleep inside at night. The vet removed the bullets from both and closed Lucy's eye. She is all healed and ready for love.Wearing a collar was new and she had never walked on a leash. She immediately taught herself to use the doggie door. She is super friendly with everybody, gets along with all dogs, gets excited about the cats and would probably chase if loose. She is ready for a loving, forever home to show her real love and how to be a wonderful member of the family. She was born about July 2022 and is 40-45 lb. Pretty certain there is boxer in their mix, not sure what mixed but seems to have a beagle look about her face.
