Story
Laz is a Pitbull, Boxer, Shar Pei mix (per a dog DNA kit I once did) and he is insanely friendly to any human (age 12+) he has ever met! Postman, UPS driver, Amazon delivery, old acquaintance, new friend, he is overjoyed to meet them all! He even does the doggy smile that is such a rare and endearing feature. He is fully and very reliably house-trained. He knows sit, walk, and can be told to go downstairs or upstairs in a house. He is estimated to be 6 years old and I got him from a high-kill shelter in Miami. He is fine with other dogs at a distance and some dogs (smaller, female) within close proximity, but I wouldn’t recommend he lives with another dog. He is so chill and spends his days just lounging around. He tolerated our first baby, and I hoped as she grew maybe he would take more towards her...unfortunately he likes toddlers even less. Now that she is on the move I have to keep them separate. I love Laz deeply, so this is sooo hard as apart from this he is an easy dog!

Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Kai came to us as part of a cruelty investigation by ACPD and ACPO. He came to us starved, body score 1/9. He had a loving home for much of his life but fell on hard times when his owner died. Fortunately, with police intervention, he was rescued and came to our shelter for care and re-homing. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and fully vaccinated now. Kai is a good boy. Easy to be around, very calm. However, he is dog selective, so we recommend that he be the only dog in the home. We also recommend a home with no small children. Kai is pretty good on a leash and knows basic commands. Primary Color: Brown Brindle Secondary Color: White Age: 5yrs 9mths 0wks

She herself always has a smile on her face and loves to soak up attention from everyone she meets. Whether she’s outside playing or inside lounging on the couch, she loves to be where the people are. She’s doing wonderful in her current foster home with her two doggy foster brothers, a 95 lb cane corso mix and a 75 lb lab. She loves to cuddle with them as well as play with them in the backyard. She also has a cat foster brother who she gets along great with and even hangs out with him on the bed when he’s in the mood for cuddles. FREYA also loves to go on car rides and just take everything in. She would love to be your sidekick for every adventure that comes your way. She likes to talk to you and let you know what she’s thinking! Her little “ooowoo’s” are absolutely precious! She tends to talk to strangers as well , but it’s just her saying “Hello!”. She is crate trained and is used to being in her crate while her foster parent is gone. She is truly a one of a kind with a heart of gold. She’s an affectionate, fun loving, loyal girl just waiting for her new forever family to love. Her $540 adoption fee covers her interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area. For an adoption application on FREYA click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Thank you for choosing rescue!!

Smoke is a 2 year old female Pit mix who was recently surrendered to us with her sister, Jazz. She is extremely sweet and loving. She gets along with other dogs, and doesn't seem to mind cats. Smoke is a little shyer than her sister, Jazz but warms up quickly, and despite being surrendered, she won't stop smiling! Smoke would love to be adopted with her sister, Jazz, and there will be a discount on adoption fees if these 2 girls go together. Primary Color: Blue Secondary Color: White Age: 2yrs 2mths 2wks
