Vinny is getting ready to be `paw-roled` November 17th from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with incarcerated trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program designed to provide a solid foundation of skills to help them succeed in their new home. These dogs graduate potty trained, crate trained, and with a long list of cues and basic behaviors.To help ensure a successful transition, No-No FiFi Dog Training provides four free training sessions (a $500 value) to teach adopters what their dog knows and how to continue that training at home, along with an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. Every dog also goes home with a matching leash and collar, six months of heartworm prevention, is fully up to date on vaccines and medications, and is spayed or neutered.Meet Vinny: a 2.5-year-old Pitty mix with a heart of gold, a love for absolutely EVERYBODY, and a story that deserves a much happier ending.Poor Vinny hasn`t exactly had the easiest start in life.Before he ever arrived at Española Humane, Vinny was already on Animal Control`s radar due to concerns about neglect. But things went from bad to worse when his previous owners moved away and left him behind. For three whole days, Vinny was abandoned in the place he used to call home, by people who weren`t coming back.And yet, somehow, this sweet boy never got the memo that humans were supposed to be disappointing.Because Vinny? Vinny LOVES people.Not just certain people. Not just people he knows. EVERYBODY.When he finally arrived at the shelter, we met a dog who had every reason to be wary of the world but instead seemed determined to love everyone in it.
