******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Teeka, a 1 year 7 month old spayed female, Boxer mix, 42lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! The amazing Teeka is on the hunt for her forever home. She specializes in best friending with an emphasis on playing! She currently lives with several larger dogs and is learning to respect their boundaries. She LOVES to play with them, but does need some help realizing when her foster siblings are ready to stop. She has not met any cats, so we’re not sure how she’d react to a feline sibling. Her foster mom says she’s done well meeting new human friends and is learning not to jump on them. Because of this and her high energy levels, we do recommend a home with older dog savvy kids. This smartie is house and crate trained! She sleeps quietly in her crate and is kenneled whenever her foster family is out of the house. We don’t recommend leaving her out unsupervised as she may help herself to whatever she finds in the kitchen. Teeka’s love for food is next level and she will try to sneak a bite from you or the other dog’s bowls, but has shown no signs of resource guarding. She is still working on her leash manners, but is getting better every day! She gets a little too excited when she sees other dogs, but is learning to calm down and continue on her walk. This happy girl absolutely loves toys! She knows where the toy basket is and will get one so you can join in the fun. She’s a huge fan of fetch and tug of war! Teeka is learning the joys of relaxing too. She loves to lay on your legs and get some pets and give some kisses. She’s happy just to be near her humans. Teeka is a young pup with boundless energy that will thrive in a home with a yard, daily exercise, training and patience. She’s a goofy, happy, loving girl and with just one look into those pretty doe eyes, your heart will melt! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?  ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends  Sweet 14weeks old Punch is name after Punch the Monkey.      Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Hi! My name is Roo! I'm a 1-year-old Boxer/Bully mix! A little bit about me. I'm A LOT of fun!!! I am still just a puppy and boy do I show it (in the best way possible!) I love to play, and I love other dogs! I do get a bit vocal while playing but that's just me being goofy! I am still a baby so I do need a bit more training, but I can promise you I would be a great dog to adopt as I will bring you endless fun, and cuddles!

Story
Adonis and Titan are being fostered in Ohio. They are great with people, but probably best with older children due to their size. They are not good with small dogs or cats. Adonis and Titan are bonded, happy, enthusiastic, athletic, and affectionate 60-pound boxer/bulldog mixes who find joy in being around each other and people – ANY people! They were found starving, weak, and wandering in rural Kentucky, when they took shelter from a rainstorm in the home of a kind woman who opened her door. Adonis is suspected to be around 9-10 years old, blind, and the father of Titan. Titan, closer to 3 years old, was helping his dad survive as best he could and stayed loyally by his side. They found themselves at a county shelter where they quickly became staff favorites and were doted on by staff and volunteers alike. But the shelter was crowded and despite their best efforts, nobody came for the dynamic duo, so BDRA stepped up. Nobody is sure where this bonded father/son pair came from, and it’s hard to guess their story. They seem to be familiar with both the bad and good life. Both have mouths full of broken teeth. In fact, a few teeth just fell out of their mouths in their first days at their foster home. Their doctor thinks they broke their teeth chewing on chains or a metal cage, desperately trying to escape. They have matching scars on their legs where bones protrude, as if they were stuck laying in one position for long periods of time. They are also hand-shy around their heads. They were neglected, abandoned, and mistreated in the past. But they were also beloved house dogs once. They were already house trained, crate trained, and leash trained when they were picked up as strays. They take treats gently and think they are lap dogs. Adonis does a perfect “sit” (Titan is working on it) and Titan has a 100% return rate when playing fetch. They both come when called. They are both quick learners and food motivated. They love EVERY human they meet — and they want to meet every human they see! (People can be intimidated by their looks; they are big, athletic, and strong.) They absolutely LOVE kids, but forget how big they are, so small ones are not recommended. Adonis and Titan are sweet, loving, cuddly, and funny boys. They are big squishy babies who love to cuddle. They absolutely live for “Netflix and cuddle” time. They love to snuggle up on the couch with humans for a movie or TV marathon. Their foster parents always squish their faces because it's impossible not to. They soak up every bit of attention they can get. They live for cuddles, pets, attention, and treats. Adonis gets around very well despite his vision impairment. He occasionally runs into things and often stares at things that aren’t there, but he can go up and down stairs very well and navigates the house. He occasionally runs into things or isn’t sure where the steps start, but he can always find a treat, a cozy bed, or a person. (Or he’ll play Marco Polo and bark to get a response to find the person!) His sense of hearing and smell are perfect. Adonis has decided he is an inside dog and thinks the good life is in the house. Titan LOVES toys and playing fetch. He resource guards his toys because he’s convinced Adonis wants his toys (he usually doesn’t) and will pick a fight, so he has to be supervised with toys. He is very loving and listens to correction very well. He seems to have a strong prey drive, so no cats, bunnies, birds, or other small animals! They have a medium amount of energy. They can be couch potatoes, but they also like to run around and play in the backyard and take walks. But if it’s raining or extra cold, they don’t want anything to do with being outside any longer than necessary, and they are perfectly content to just be lazy all day. Titan has more energy than Adonis, being a younger guy, and will make up his own games in the back yard with his favorite green ball. Adonis prefers to sit on the deck or be inside — wherever the humans are! They love each other very much and get very worried when they are separated. They often sleep in the same (very large) dog bed together. They are very bonded. They have some resource guarding from having to survive on their own, so they must be fed separately and supervised with toys. But they have gotten much better as they have learned resources are unlimited. They are NOT good with cats or small dogs. Since they are SO enthusiastic about showing people their love, they are probably best for bigger kids. (They will knock the little ones down because they have no idea how big they are.) Adonis and Titan have seen hard times, but they don’t hold any grudges. These two are ready to find someone with bully-breed experience who appreciates the bully personality and quirks, and is ready to welcome the sometimes slobbery, but always enthusiastic zest for life that these two are offering! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
You might not like the flavor of black licorice, but wait until you`ve met this dynamic guy who`s an absolute sweet treat! Licorice (40lbs) came to us when his owners had to move and sadly couldn`t take him with them. At just five months old, he`s already got a few tricks under his belt, and as long as you`re not a vacuum, he`s interested in getting to know you! He`s very friendly, but he`ll need to get to know you before he`s going to show you his favorite blanket or ball. We know that he`s lived with kids and other dogs, but we`d still love to set up a separate meet and greet for any current resident canines. Come by to meet him at our adoption center Wednesday-Sundays: 12:00 PM-4:30 PM (Thursday: 12:00-6:30 PM)You can also reach our adoptions team:by email: adoptions@spcaonline.comby phone (during open hours): 607-257-1822 x221

Addie, 4.5 year old, spayed female pitbull terrier mix, 45 pounds. Addie is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Addie was saved from the streets of a north Houston neighborhood known for being a dumping ground for unwanted pets. When she was rescued, she was nearly hairless from mange, massively underweight and had experienced only a lifetime of struggle and raising litters. Addie is still learning what it means to be a loved house dog, but she is a willing and promising pupil and is loving her new lease on life! She is crate trained and stays in the kennel while her foster is at work for up to 8-9hrs, as well as sleeping in there at night. She has been trusted to sleep loose on occasion and has not had any issues in the house. She's still perfecting her house skills and may have the occasional accident until she settles into her new Furever home's routine. We do not have history with cats or children. In general, we recommend homes with kids who are old enough to understand and respect animal behavior cues and would always suggest supervised interactions until all parties are well accustomed to the other. Addie is a sweet, gentle girl, so she would likely do well around young kids, but may prefer older, calmer pre-teens and teenagers. Addie never had doggy "friends" before so she's not super playful. When she does interact, she greatly prefers her male friends of equal to bigger size (40-60lbs) and picks up on their cues to cease playtime. She is very curious and pulls towards the female dogs she's encountered but has yet found a girlfriend she enjoys playing with. This cutie has not shown any aggression around food or other resources but she is very much is a hungry, hungry hippo! She will try to eat everyone else's food, so we do recommend feeding her separately. Her foster says she is realizing that she will be getting another meal, and is getting much better with this. Addie has a few wishes for her new home: *walkies for 20-30 mins twice a day *a yard to roam and run around in *a male dog sibling to cuddle up and sleep next to *couches aplenty since she's in her Soft Life Era *all of the love and affection she missed out on while fending for herself on the street Although she is timid at first, but once she trusts you, Addie is overflowing with love. She is a survivor and has proven that the resilience of dogs will not be diminished, no matter how unfortunate life or unkind humans have been to them. We all can’t wait to see her living her best life with her new family! Meet Remy ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Meet Remy—a resilient, loving pup who’s ready to be your loyal shadow and snuggle partner for life! Remy is an almost 4 year old Rottweiler mix weighing 70lbs, but looks smaller than this, his foster mom has been told. He is in a foster home in Houston, TX, and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is found. Remy was found as a stray in Cleveland, Texas. Thanks to a Good Samaritan who stepped up for him, his life changed forever. Remy is a total love bug and wants nothing more than to be near his person—your built-in shadow! His separation anxiety has improved so much, and he does great staying loose in the house while you’re away. He’s not a fan of kennels, but has gotten more use to them, especially when you're home. He has excellent house manners and has never had a single potty accident. Love walks? So does Remy! Love car rides? He’s your co-pilot! Love couch snuggles? He’ll be first in line! He’s dog & lifestyle friendly! He’s met and played with several dogs, playful but not overly so. He's met children, mainly on the older side....this goofball thinks he's 1/2 his size. He’s still learning, as we all are, but eager to please. Like any pup who’s getting a fresh start, Remy has a couple of small things he’s working on. Because he’s gentle and responsive, with consistency, these will be easy wins for his new family. •He gets really excited before a walk, at times pulls a bit at the beginning of walks, but settles in once he gets going. It doesn't take long and he's ready for a nap after a quick walk. •He may give you a soft little “welcome home” or “let’s go!” jump, mostly when you’re headed out for a walk or just arriving back. He's just always excited to see his people! Remy is ready to give someone all his love, loyalty, and all of the couch cuddles! Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply today and give Remy the loving home he deserves ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
