Story
We would like to introduce you to ECHO, who is a year old Boxer/Pittie mix who came to our pound with his brother as strays. No one came for them, so ECHO is now available for adoption. He can be a little timid when he first meets someone new, but once he warms up, it's game on and you have a buddy for life. ECHO loves to run and play, and still has puppy energy and exuberance. He is good with other dogs and kids, too. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; Closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions welcomed. Applications are available at the pound and online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers, org. Apple users must access our website and submit application using Google, not Safari. $40 adoption fee. 740-942-4080

Story
Hello this is Zara! She is a very energetic 20 week old Boxer and German Shepard mix. She loves other dogs and she seems to like my cats but is just a little too rough considering she is still in training and is a puppy. She will need someone who has a lot of time for her to exercise and train efficiently. She knows a variety of commands along with being potty trained with hanging bells. She only needs her last set of shots and rabies and is microchipped. Having a medium to large secured yard would definitely benefit her because she loves running and sunbathing. She is very intelligent yet has a goofy nature as well. We love her dearly but we should have done a little more research to realize how hyper her breed is. I truly think she will be an amazing dog as she ages but with the puppy behavior she has it’s just too much stress on our family. Will only rehome her to someone that has experience with training considering her breed.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Slayer. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 67 lbs. Someone left me here at the pound in a kennel without any explanation, so nobody really knows who I am or where I came from. I have been an absolute sweetheart of a boy. I can be a little timid at first when I meet new people, but after just a couple of minutes, I warm right up in to a total sweetheart of a boy. I love to run and play, but I also like to snuggle. I have been good around all of the other dogs I've met here at the pound and I love to play with them. I do have some anxiety when I am left alone and would likely do best if kept in a heavy duty crate while you're away. I am very clean in my kennel here at the pound and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Ohshi. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was brought into the pound after hours and left in one of the kennels here after our owners were in a dispute. They are currently separated and in legal battles. There is a lot of he said- she said, so the whole truth is really hard to determine. What is known is that me and my friend were left here in kennels after hours and were later identified by one of our owners. Unfortunately, although that person would love to have me back home, they are now displaced and in a place where they cannot currently own animals, so I now have to look for a new family to join. I'm a little timid and standoffish sometimes when I meet new people. I am VERY sweet, friendly and affectionate with all of the staff and volunteers now that I know all of them. I get very protective of my home and family and would do a great job of helping you feel safe. I am housebroken and crate trained and a really good girl inside. I LOVE to play with toys and I am a very funny girl to watch. I like going for walks and just spending time with my people. I do best if I'm walked on a harness as I have a collapsing trachea. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Oswald. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh about 62 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Wellsville area and I was brought into the pound. I've been a very sweet and affectionate boy since my arrival here at the pound. I keep my kennel spotless at night and I appear to have been a house dog before making my way into the pound. I have been pretty good with most of the other dogs here at the pound, but I do seem to do best with calmer, well mannered dogs. I don't like a lot of puppy shenanigans or wild dogs, but I have done well with respectful dogs. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me.
