Story
Rambo is a handsome boy with a heart as big as his personality! This energetic boy loves to play, especially a good game of tug, and he’s always up for an adventure with his favourite people. At first, Rambo can be a little nervous when meeting new faces, but with patience and some tasty treats, he quickly warms up and shows off his sweet, friendly nature. He thrives in an environment where he can build trust and confidence at his own pace. Because he’s still young, Rambo can get overstimulated in new or stressful situations, so he’ll need a family who understands his needs and can help him navigate the world with positive reinforcement. He’s strong and can pull on leash, so ongoing training and structure will be key to helping him become the best walking companion. Rambo would do best with an active family who can match his enthusiasm for life, continue his training, and provide him with the love and patience he deserves. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion, Rambo is ready to meet you!

Story
Mika was surrendered to us when her previous family thought she was pregnant. Mika was severely underweight and had a huge abdomen. On exam, we knew right away something wasn't right. She was taken to the vet for x-rays and it turned out she had a tumor the size of a basketball. She required surgery right away and recovered amazingly. Most recently, another tumor started to grow, and after further testing it ended up being Soft Tissue Sarcoma. The kindest thing would be to not pursue another surgery but to find her a palliative home where she can spend the rest of her days. Mika has always been extremely protective of her people and space. With people she knows, she is the most loving and cuddly girl. She is fiercely loyal. To those she doesn't trust she can be extremely aggressive and bite. Mika is in need of a home that can manage this behavior and limit her interactions with strangers. Mika does well with dogs after a slow introduction and would do well living with another dog. Mika does amazing with cats. Mika will need a home without any visiting kids. Mika loves to play in the yard with her dog friends, cuddle on the couch and lounge around. She has amazing house manners, loves car rides and even knows how to give hugs to her people.

Story
Hi my names Poncho!I am a lovable boy is that is a perfect mix of goofy, charm, and heartfelt loyalty. I am the kind of dog who greets each day with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart, always ready for a game, or a good cuddle.I am still learning about the world, so confidence-building and proper socialization will go a long way in helping me feel secure. New people and new situations can make him a little unsure at first, but give me a moment — and a gentle, patient approach — and you’ll see me blossom. Once I trusts you, my loyalty is unwavering. I want to become that dog who follows you from room to room, checks in with soft eyes, and leans in for affection like you’re my whole world. If you’re ready to help a sweet soul grow into my full potential, I am ready to give it a shot! My ideal home involves:Children: would be best with older children or adult homeOther dogs: I need proper socialization - still learning Cats: I will chaseFirst time dog owner: Someone with dog experience would benefit me.Housing environment: House with a yardFenced in yard: Yes Someone home most of the day: YesActivity level: Medium to High House trained: Will need some more training- Improving

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.BOURNVILLE hails from a Southern community in Ontario and came into the rescue with her 3 siblings, Milky Bar, Galaxy and Dairy Milk. They came into Rescue on the Easter weekend so they received the litter name of the  “Chocolates’s” and this cute girl is now looking for her forever home. She’s had her 3 sets of puppy vaccines including rabies, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We do have a picture of her mum and she looks like a Border Collie/Bully mix but we have no info on dad. Seeing as she comes from a community with lots of stray dogs she no doubt has many different breeds in her and they could additionally include Shepherd, Black Lab and even Husky. We also have no idea on the size she’ll grow to be so the size we have in this post is just a guess. Se are definitely looking for an adopter for her who has Bully breed experience. She’s a very loving, happy girl and that little tail of hers is always wagging. She really loves to socialize with people but she may be a bit apprehensive of someone at first but she soon comes around when left alone and will eventually go and greet them on their own terms. With her happy personality and loving nature  she’ll be a great asset to a dog loving home.  BOURNVILLE is sweet, playful and full of curiosity. This lovely girl loves to spend time outside playing in her fenced-in yard. When her playtime is over she’s all about the cuddles and she’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. With her happy personality and loving nature she’s ready to find her forever home where she can continue to thrive and grow. BOURNVILLE is crate trained and picked up on that very quickly as she’s a very smart girl. She’ll sleep quietly in it at night but in the day she does like to sleep on her dog bed. She’s doing really well with her house training and will let you know when she needs to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves to go for walks and she’s now almost up to doing 30 minutes at a time. She has met several friendly dogs on her walks and she’s a bit reserved at first but soon relaxes and has been able to greet them nicely. Due to teething, she’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that she shouldn’t. She really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. She’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as “sit” for her meals and treats and to take them “gentle.” BOURNVILLE’s ideal family would be a quiet one and one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take her on adventures with them. Ideally someone would be home with her for most of the day as she loves to be around her people. She really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in her crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. Although there’s not a dog in her foster home she does love being with one. She’s met many of our other foster dogs and loved them all from puppies to full grown adults. So we are recommending a dog be in her new home. She’s not met a cat yet but if there’s one in her new home then they should be dog savvy and we always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made between them while the puppy is on a leash for initial meetings. She needs a fenced-in yard and children should be aged 10yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  BOURNVILLE was adopted but after 3 weeks she was returned to the rescue and we feel it was through no fault of her own. When meeting new people she needs her space. If you try to approach her with hands out she’ll back up and try to leave the area and/or hide behind her ‘safe person.’ The safest way to approach her is by following the ‘no touch, no talk and no eye contact’ rule to avoid triggering a flight or fight response. She has successfully met groups of people with this technique and when she was ready, she approached each person on her own and had a good sniff and then said ‘hello.’  She is wary of tall men and offers a small grumble initially to express her concern but with the same approach as already mentioned, she quickly relaxes.  BOURNVILLE, like all puppies is cute, playful and a fun puppy but she’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to commit to sign her up for puppy training/obedience classes so she can be the most well behaved puppy possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spay performed by the time she’s 6 months of age. It will either be at our vet’s office or be at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. However her spay will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we’ll need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of her (preferably in a onsie or cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If BOURNVILLE sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 16, 2026, 8:25 am
