Story
Murphy is a lovable goofball with a heart as big as his paws. At just 1 year old, this Boxer Lab Pit mix is full of playful energy, affection, and personality. Weighing about 73 pounds, Murphy is a big happy pup who is ready to bring joy and laughter to his forever family. Murphy is crate trained, housebroken with supervision, and does very well with other dogs, although his enthusiastic and bouncy play style may be a bit much for smaller or more delicate companions. He is smart, eager to please, and already knows basic cues such as sit, stay, and down. He also walks nicely on leash and enjoys spending time with his people. With continued structure and consistency, Murphy will continue to thrive and show just how wonderful he can be. Because of his size and playful nature, Murphy would do best in a home with older children who can comfortably interact with a larger energetic dog. Murphy is neutered, healthy, and ready to meet his new family. If you think Murphy might be the perfect fit, email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com to learn more or set up a meet and greet.

Story
Sherbet is a 2 year old boxer and pit bull mix who arrived at the shelter after living his life on a chain. He came to us underweight with visible scars from fly strike, yet despite everything he has endured, he has a bright, hopeful spirit and a deep desire for connection. Sherbet is energetic and playful and loves any opportunity to stretch his legs and enjoy freedom. Once he gets his energy out, he leans in for affection and clearly wants to build a bond with the people around him. With consistent care and structure, he is already showing how much potential he has to grow into a loving companion. At this time, Sherbet is still learning to feel comfortable around other dogs, especially while on leash. We are working with him on confidence building and positive exposure so that he can better understand how to navigate these interactions. With patience, training, and the right environment, we believe he will continue to make progress. Sherbet is looking for a home that can give him the stability and kindness he has never known. He deserves a chance to thrive indoors with a family who will guide him, continue his training, and appreciate the loyal, affectionate dog he is becoming. If you are ready to help a deserving young dog start a new life, Sherbet would love to meet you. Email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com

Story
🛡️🤍 Xena: Warrior Princess of Second Chances 🤍🛡️ Meet Xena, a 3–5 year old brindle and white boxer mix with the sweetest eyes and the gentlest soul. When she first arrived at Hopewell Animal Services, she weighed just 34 pounds — a heartbreaking sign of the neglect she endured. Thanks to lots of TLC, good meals, and kindness, Xena is starting to fill out — and her spirit has never been stronger. 💛 She may have come from a tough past, but she’s left it behind and is fully focused on her bright future. ✨ Sweet and gentle ✨ Wonderful on leash ✨ Enjoys walking with other dogs (meet & greets required) ✨ Receptive to affection and direction ✨ Very treat motivated (and understandably enthusiastic about snacks!) Xena doesn’t ask for much — just quality food, soft beds, and a home filled with love. She’s ready for her next chapter, one where she’ll never have to wonder where her next meal or cuddle is coming from. If you’re looking for a resilient, loving companion with a heart of gold, Xena is ready to meet you. 🐶💕

Story
💎🐾 Meet Crystal — Your Playful, Thoughtful Companion! 🐾💎 Crystal is a 2–3 year old, 55-lb, spayed boxer/pittie mix with a stunning brown coat, black muzzle, and eyes that make you feel like she’s thinking deeply… and maybe scheming a little fun, too! She may be a bit reserved at first, but once she feels safe, her playful, affectionate personality shines through — and when Crystal chooses you, it’s something truly special. 💛 This thoughtful girl loves: 🐾 Long walks and outdoor adventures, exploring at her own pace — nose down, tail up, taking it all in 🐾 Fetch and rolling in the grass 🐾 Following commands like sit, staying connected, and looking to you with a wagging tail for guidance and reassurance Crystal is an introvert at heart, so she’d thrive in a calmer home where someone appreciates a deeper, quieter connection. She can get a little jumpy when excited (who can blame her?), but with patience, consistency, and love, she truly blossoms. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and thoughtful companion who gives her heart fully once she trusts you, Crystal could be the perfect match.

I got this dog from Burlington animal shelter NC 4 years ago. His name is Dublin and he is 6 years old now . He is very friendly , never bites and love to welcome guests . He never pee or poop inside , always asks to go outside when needed. Loves to stay with people and try different foods. Never chews stuff or rips any couch. Recognize stranger and bark if someone comes to the door. He loves cats and dogs and play with them . He loves to walk , run and play with the ball . He stays quite calm in the car and doesn’t run away from home or when outside . I like to him stay with a family that take care of him and do not leave him alone all day.

Story
There are some things in rescue work that are simply impossible to understand. One of those things is how anyone could throw a big, beautiful black Boxer from a moving truck and drive away.   But that is how Troy’s story began. On a quiet country road, good people working in their yard witnessed the unthinkable. They saw a truck slow down just enough to push this large dog out onto the pavement. He hit the ground on his head, dazed and bleeding, while the truck sped off without a second glance. Confused and hurting, Troy didn’t know who to trust. It took time, patience, and soft reassurance before he would allow those same strangers to help him. When he finally climbed into their backseat, his big, injured head rested in his rescuer’s lap the entire drive — seeking comfort even after such betrayal.   Physically, Troy has healed well. His wounds have closed and his strength has returned. But emotionally, you can still see that he is waiting for someone to prove that he is safe… truly safe… forever. And here is the remarkable part — Troy is an exceptional dog.   He is sweet, obedient, and wonderfully behaved in the home. He does not dig, does not climb fences, and respects his space. He wants structure, kindness, and someone to belong to. While he can coexist with some larger dogs, he would truly flourish as the only dog in the home where he doesn’t have to compete for affection. Cats are not a good match for him. A securely fenced yard would give him the freedom to stretch his legs and enjoy life while feeling protected. Troy doesn’t need pity. He needs commitment. He needs a Boxer lover who understands the loyalty and devotion this breed gives and who is ready to return that devotion tenfold. Someone who will look into his soulful eyes and promise that he will never again be discarded or unwanted. We have helped him start over. Now we are praying the right person will step forward and give him the stable, joyful future he deserves.   If you believe you could be that person for Troy, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com     PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 6, 2026, 1:17 am

Story
Stampy is a bright and affectionate young dog who is full of personality and joy. At roughly 2 years old and around 45 pounds, he offers a wonderful blend of playful energy and sweet, cuddly loyalty that makes him a great companion for an active and engaged home. Stampy is very smart and curious, always eager to learn, explore, and interact with the world around him. He enjoys romping in the yard, carrying toys, and engaging in fun bursts of play. When playtime is over, he settles nicely and is happiest when he can curl up close to his people. Stampy is convinced he is a lap dog and loves every opportunity to be near his family. Stampy has done well with many dogs and enjoys social companions who understand his enthusiastic and sometimes mouthy play style. He would be a great match for a tolerant and playful dog who appreciates a little bounce and goofiness. He has lived around cats and may occasionally try to engage them in play, but he responds well to confident cats who set clear boundaries. Because he can become excited at times, Stampy would do best in a home with older children who can participate in his training and help encourage calm interactions. He thrives with structure, consistency, and clear routines, and he responds very well to gentle guidance and redirection. Stampy is not aggressive, and his occasional overexcitement resolves quickly with calm handling. Stampy is crate trained, housebroken, and comfortable relaxing in his own space when needed. He has a loving nature, a big heart, and tremendous potential to become an incredibly devoted companion. With a family who appreciates his joyful spirit and is ready to continue guiding him as he matures, Stampy is sure to shine. If you would like to learn more about Stampy or schedule a meet and greet, please email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com with Stampy in the subject line.
