Story
Rex is a lovable, high-energy boxer looking for his forever family! He was born 2-13-2022. This handsome boy is full of personality—playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. Like a true boxer, he’s goofy, loving, and always eager to be by your side. Rex gets along great with kids and other dogs, but because he jumps when excited, we recommend a home with children 5 and up. His ideal family should have experience with the boxer breed and understand their energetic nature. A fenced yard and an active household would be perfect for this bouncy boy! If Rex is the only dog in the home, he’ll need plenty of physical and mental stimulation to keep him happy and engaged. He thrives on playtime, training, and interactive activities that challenge both his body and mind. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will keep you laughing and moving, Rex is your guy! His ideal home would be one with a securely fenced yard, and if there are kids in the home, over the age of 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Oklahoma Joe was found as a stray and picked up by Animal Control on Tallahassee Lane in Pasco. He is now neutered and ready to go home today!Currently weighing about 46 pounds, Oklahoma Joe has a bright future ahead of him—we just hope the right person sees it too. It`s no secret that Joe is underweight. When he arrived, he was immediately placed on a carefully managed feeding plan to help him safely begin gaining weight. Dogs that have gone without adequate nutrition for an extended period can`t simply be fed as much as they`ll eat, as doing so can lead to a dangerous condition called refeeding syndrome. Instead, his meals have been carefully increased over time to give his body the best chance to recover safely, and he`s already making steady progress.Whatever Oklahoma Joe has been through, it`s clear someone spent time with him at some point in his life.He knows an impressive list of commands in both English and Spanish, including sit, stay, wait, lay down, shake, and speak. Some commands he`ll perform with verbal cues alone, and he absolutely loves showing off his skills for a tasty treat. Joe is very food motivated and genuinely enjoys working with people, making training sessions both fun and rewarding. He walks well on a leash with just a little pulling and has a wonderfully gentle demeanor. Like many dogs who have experienced food insecurity, he can become excited when he sees hands because he hopes they might have treats. For that reason, he may be best suited to a home without very young children or anyone who may have difficulty managing his enthusiasm around food.Oklahoma Joe is already beginning his glow-up, and it`s easy to picture just how handsome he`ll be once he`s filled out and settled into a loving home. More importantly, he`s simply a really nice dog who deserves the chance to leave his past behind and start the next chapter of his life.Since Oklahoma Joe was found as a stray, his history with other dogs or cats is unknown. Meet and greets are required with any dogs currently in the home prior to adoption.Oklahoma Joe`s adoption fee is $50. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. Our shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Holds, deposits, and pre-adoptions are not allowed. Animals may transfer to other shelters or rescues at any time.Come meet Oklahoma Joe and see just how m

Story
Crème Brûlée is a young, sweet, and truly one-of-a-kind pup with a heart as soft as her name suggests. She is dog, cat, and kid friendly, and brings a happy, bubbly energy everywhere she goes. She’s a special girl with a beautiful spirit, looking for a home that will love her exactly as she is and cheer her on as she grows. 💛 HISTORY Crème Brûlée was found alone in an area commonly known for dumping unwanted pets in Grandview, WA. She came to HART at about 4 months old. Crème Brûlée is fostered in Tri-Cities, in Eastern Washington. We share information about our dogs in postings based in other cities to improve their chances of finding a great forever home. She is well worth a road trip, and we encourage you to come and meet her before you decide she should join your family! SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT AND TRAINING Crème Brûlée is a gentle natured puppy who just wants to please her people. CB has CH (cerebellar hypoplasia) and is mostly hearing impaired, which gives her a unique and endearing way of moving through the world. She has a noticeable head tilt/wobble and often walks or trots in gentle circles—but she’s adapted beautifully and doesn’t let it dim her joy or curiosity. CB is currently learning house manners and doing well overall. She is still figuring out leash walking, but she does great in the car and is crate trained and mostly potty trained. She would love a playful canine companion who can match or patiently handle her enthusiastic puppy energy and help guide her as she continues to learn. In her foster home, she is learning hand signs to help with her training. When she transitions to a new home, we will ensure to share these signs with you. She is fostered with dogs, cats, and a toddler. Crème Brûlée is still just a baby and is eager to learn how to be a wonderful family dog. She would benefit greatly from puppy classes where she can learn basic skills while building confidence and strengthening the bond with her new family. It’s important to remember: Crème Brûlée is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! She is just getting started and still has sharp nails, needle teeth, and a love for pouncing on anything that moves. Shoes, toys, socks, and dangling strings are all fair game in her world. She still has everything to learn about living in a mostly human household and will need patient guidance as she grows. She will likely trip you, piddle on your rug, and chew something she shouldn’t at some point. That’s all part of raising a puppy! Please do not apply to adopt Crème Brûlée unless you are ready to invest the time, patience, and energy needed to help her grow into a well-mannered adult dog. HEALTH STATUS General info Creme Brulee is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, and she is pending spay. At full grown, she will likely weigh around 45-50 lbs. CB has been evaluated by a vet in order to diagnose her cerebellar hypoplasia and her hearing impairment. While she is not believed to be fully deaf, she is pretty significantly impaired. ADOPTION The adoption fee for Crème Brûlée is $425. Our process starts with an online application and may take a few days to a week to complete. We appreciate your patience while we do our part. To apply to adopt Crème Brûlée, please complete our online adoption application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAWA-A-97 or email HearthfireART@gmail.com to request an adoption application form. HART dogs live in foster homes, not in a kennel facility. To respect our fosters’ privacy, we make our dogs available to meet adopters only after an adoption has been approved.

Story
Born, February 26, 2022 Styx is a Husky/Pitbull mix who weighs about 75 pounds. He is very sweet, snuggly and playful. He loves all humans and just wants to be near people. He will roll over to get his belly rubbed or try to sit as near as possible - which might be in your lap. He can get exuberant and be a little pushy so we are working on boundaries. Styx is potty trained and kennels well but would welcome an invitation to sleep with his people. He walks well with a front clip leash, and doesn’t react to other dogs behind fences or walking by. He would love a home where he gets lots of exercise walking, running, hiking, camping however, he also settles down and will take a nice nap on the couch. He would be perfect as an only dog or with.m another canine companion. He’s been introduced to cats but has never lived with one. He will need a home that is willing to continue training to make him a good canine citizen and grow into the best dog he can be. Styx’s forever home will require a secure 6 foot fence with adults or adults and children over 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Van Haagar is doing so well in his foster home but he would love to lay down some roots in a forever home! Van Haagar was born 9/27/2022 and is a pitty mix. Here is what his foster mom has to say about him: He LOVES food and is very treat motivated, which is amazing for training. He is very sweet, and I think he just needs a lot of love and patience as he gets used to a new home. He truly just wants to hang out and spend time with his humans and doggy friends. Other fun facts: He loves his bed and the couches…anything soft! He loves to snuggle - he makes the perfect coach potato. He is hesitant of loud noises. He is kennel trained but prefers the couch. 🛋️ He is house trained. He does get curious of the trash can because he is so food driven so a trash can with a lid is recommended. 😂 He enjoys car rides-especially if a pup cup is involved He is working on leash training because he does tend to pull but he does pretty great with recall. He gets along well with his foster dog siblings- but he can play rough sometimes. He would live a sibling that matches his energy and play style Cats would be a big NO 🐈🐈‍⬛ Kids are unknown but his foster would recommend kids 8+ just because he is a big boy and could easily knock over a little one. If you can give this handsome guy his forever, please apply at mikeyschance.com.
