Well, our David has already faced his own giant challenge: spending nearly FOUR YEARS in an animal shelter waiting for someone to choose him. Somehow, through all those days of waiting, this incredible boy never lost his love for people, his love for other dogs, or his joy for life. David is about 5 years old and weighs 55 pounds, with a handsome brown-and-white coat, a big smile, and a heart even bigger than his Goliath-sized dreams. He's a happy-go-lucky, tail-wagging, everybody's-my-friend kind of guy who seems to believe the best is yet to come. He's wonderful with people, kids, and other dogs, and he's ready to bring his sunshine-filled personality to a family of his own. After spending so much of his life in a shelter, David deserves to discover all the little things that make a dog's life wonderful: a soft bed, family walks, toys that belong to him, and people who love him just as much as he loves them. Petey pretty much trained himself for fetch, house training, crate training, and sit. He understands basic commands, usually very easy. He is great on a leash until he sees a bunny, person, dog, etc. He is very reactive with jumping and barking, calm the rest of the day, fun and playful when anyone can play with him. He seems to be more reactive as he gets older and we haven’t been able to give him the kind of training he needs. He is not food motivated, picky eater but will eat if he’s hungry. He has allergies and takes Apoquel, no other health issues. And no behavior issues other than reactivity which makes walks difficult for anyone not strong enough to hold him as he jumps on and barks at anyone who comes to the door until he gets to know them, then calms right down. He will go happily with anyone he meets, shows no signs of separation anxiety or any anxiety aside from the intense reactivity. He sleeps great at night, and mostly lays at our feet during the day.

Sawoop first came into the shelter via animal control after she and another dog (Rosie) were found abandoned in an old building. During Sawoop's time with WAIF, we've learned she doesn't seem to be a fan of other dogs, but she did play nicely with Rosie a few times before Rosie's adoption. Sawoop doesn't have much prior training, but she's learned to sit and lie down in her time with us. Sawoop loves to go out to play fetch or chase the giant herding ball, and she walks nicely on the leash waftershe's had a chance to run and play.
