Story
Rex is a lovable, high-energy boxer looking for his forever family! He was born 2-13-2022. This handsome boy is full of personality—playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. Like a true boxer, he’s goofy, loving, and always eager to be by your side. Rex gets along great with kids and other dogs, but because he jumps when excited, we recommend a home with children 5 and up. His ideal family should have experience with the boxer breed and understand their energetic nature. A fenced yard and an active household would be perfect for this bouncy boy! If Rex is the only dog in the home, he’ll need plenty of physical and mental stimulation to keep him happy and engaged. He thrives on playtime, training, and interactive activities that challenge both his body and mind. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will keep you laughing and moving, Rex is your guy! His ideal home would be one with a securely fenced yard, and if there are kids in the home, over the age of 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Meet Cheese, a one and a half year old Boxer/Pointer mix.Cheese’s story is a tough one for such a young dog. Adopted as a puppy in 2025, he’s unfortunately been returned to the shelter three times. That kind of instability is hard on any dog, and it’s left him with some separation anxiety—but it’s also made one thing very clear: Cheese is ready for a true forever home that will commit to him for life.Despite everything, Cheese is still a happy, outgoing, and delightfully dorky guy. His adorable underbite gives him a constant goofy grin, and his playful personality makes him a joy to be around. He bonds deeply with his people and thrives on connection—he just needs someone who can give him consistency, reassurance, and clear direction.Cheese is a smart pup who already knows “sit” and is very treat motivated, which makes training a great way to build his confidence and strengthen your bond. He’s strong and energetic, so he’ll do best with an adopter who can provide structure, regular exercise, and guidance to help him feel secure.Because of his prey drive, Cheese would do best in a home without cats. What he really needs is someone who understands that he’s been through a lot and is ready to show him what stability and unconditional love look like. He has met other dogs while with us and has done extremely well and could be a good candidate for a home with another dog. If you’re willing to invest in him, Cheese will give you his whole heart—and he’s just waiting for the person who will make sure he never has to come back again. This pet is available for adoption on 4.21.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Darcy Lynn, a one and a half year old Hound/Boxer mix weighing 48 pounds.Darcy Lynn is a sweet girl who has had a lot of change happen all at once. She came into our care after her owner was arrested, and sadly, no one has come forward to take her home. We can only imagine how confusing and frightening that must be for her, especially while she’s missing the person she knew and loved.Darcy is very scared right now and needs a slow, gentle approach. She’s not the kind of dog who will immediately run up and greet you—she needs time to feel safe, build trust, and understand that she’s okay. With patience, consistency, and plenty of TLC, we’re hopeful she’ll begin to come out of her shell. For now, Darcy would do best in a calm home without young children. She is also a flight risk, so her adopters will need to be especially careful with doors, gates, and transitions. Darcy should not be allowed outside without being securely leashed right now.Darcy didn’t ask for any of these changes, and she deserves the chance to decompress and heal from everything she’s been through. She’s looking for someone who will give her the time she needs and never give up on her.If you have a quiet home, a patient heart, and lots of TLC to give, Darcy Lynn may be the girl who needs you most. Story
Meet Odin, a one-year-old Staffie/Boxer mix weighing 70 pounds.Odin is the biggest baby you ever did meet—and he’s not afraid to show it! This incredibly sweet boy is a total lover who believes there’s no such thing as too many kisses, too many cuddles, or too much snuggle time.Odin is treat motivated, so tasty snacks are definitely the way to his heart (although his sweet personality will win you over all on its own!). Once he settles in and feels comfortable, Odin reveals his fun side, too. He can go from professional couch potato to full-on zoomie machine when the mood strikes! At heart, though, Odin is happiest close to his people, soaking up affection and giving plenty right back. If your dream dog is a big, soft-hearted cuddlebug with a goofy playful side, Odin may be your perfect match. Story
Meet Teddy, a two-and-a-half-year-old Retriever/Boxer mix weighing 60 pounds. Teddy’s story starts with hardship, but it doesn’t define the dog he is today. He came to us through Animal Control after being surrendered by his owner, having lived in poor conditions with limited access to food and water. Despite everything he’s been through, Teddy has held onto a gentle, trusting heart. This sweet boy is lowkey and loving most of the time, happy to be by your side and soak up affection. He walks nicely on a leash, loves treats, and is eager to learn—he truly wants to please his people. Teddy has also shown that he is potty trained in a home environment. When he gets excited, Teddy can jump up, so a home without very young children would be the best fit. He would do best in a home without cats, as he does like to chase them. Teddy can do well with other dogs given a proper introduction.Teddy is ready for a fresh start with a family who will give him the stability, care, and love he’s always deserved. This pet is available for adoption on 5.1.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
