Story
Rex is a lovable, high-energy boxer looking for his forever family! He was born 2-13-2022. This handsome boy is full of personality—playful, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. Like a true boxer, he’s goofy, loving, and always eager to be by your side. Rex gets along great with kids and other dogs, but because he jumps when excited, we recommend a home with children 5 and up. His ideal family should have experience with the boxer breed and understand their energetic nature. A fenced yard and an active household would be perfect for this bouncy boy! If Rex is the only dog in the home, he’ll need plenty of physical and mental stimulation to keep him happy and engaged. He thrives on playtime, training, and interactive activities that challenge both his body and mind. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will keep you laughing and moving, Rex is your guy! His ideal home would be one with a securely fenced yard, and if there are kids in the home, over the age of 5. Applications: www.mikeyschance.com

Story
Meet Cheese, a one and a half year old Boxer/Pointer mix.Cheese’s story is a tough one for such a young dog. Adopted as a puppy in 2025, he’s unfortunately been returned to the shelter three times. That kind of instability is hard on any dog, and it’s left him with some separation anxiety—but it’s also made one thing very clear: Cheese is ready for a true forever home that will commit to him for life.Despite everything, Cheese is still a happy, outgoing, and delightfully dorky guy. His adorable underbite gives him a constant goofy grin, and his playful personality makes him a joy to be around. He bonds deeply with his people and thrives on connection—he just needs someone who can give him consistency, reassurance, and clear direction.Cheese is a smart pup who already knows “sit” and is very treat motivated, which makes training a great way to build his confidence and strengthen your bond. He’s strong and energetic, so he’ll do best with an adopter who can provide structure, regular exercise, and guidance to help him feel secure.Because of his prey drive, Cheese would do best in a home without cats. What he really needs is someone who understands that he’s been through a lot and is ready to show him what stability and unconditional love look like. He has met other dogs while with us and has done extremely well and could be a good candidate for a home with another dog. If you’re willing to invest in him, Cheese will give you his whole heart—and he’s just waiting for the person who will make sure he never has to come back again. This pet is available for adoption on 4.21.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Oklahoma Joe was found as a stray and picked up by Animal Control on Tallahassee Lane in Pasco. He is now neutered and ready to go home today!Currently weighing about 46 pounds, Oklahoma Joe has a bright future ahead of him—we just hope the right person sees it too. It`s no secret that Joe is underweight. When he arrived, he was immediately placed on a carefully managed feeding plan to help him safely begin gaining weight. Dogs that have gone without adequate nutrition for an extended period can`t simply be fed as much as they`ll eat, as doing so can lead to a dangerous condition called refeeding syndrome. Instead, his meals have been carefully increased over time to give his body the best chance to recover safely, and he`s already making steady progress.Whatever Oklahoma Joe has been through, it`s clear someone spent time with him at some point in his life.He knows an impressive list of commands in both English and Spanish, including sit, stay, wait, lay down, shake, and speak. Some commands he`ll perform with verbal cues alone, and he absolutely loves showing off his skills for a tasty treat. Joe is very food motivated and genuinely enjoys working with people, making training sessions both fun and rewarding. He walks well on a leash with just a little pulling and has a wonderfully gentle demeanor. Like many dogs who have experienced food insecurity, he can become excited when he sees hands because he hopes they might have treats. For that reason, he may be best suited to a home without very young children or anyone who may have difficulty managing his enthusiasm around food.Oklahoma Joe is already beginning his glow-up, and it`s easy to picture just how handsome he`ll be once he`s filled out and settled into a loving home. More importantly, he`s simply a really nice dog who deserves the chance to leave his past behind and start the next chapter of his life.Since Oklahoma Joe was found as a stray, his history with other dogs or cats is unknown. Meet and greets are required with any dogs currently in the home prior to adoption.Oklahoma Joe`s adoption fee is $50. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and treated for fleas, ticks, and worms. Our shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Holds, deposits, and pre-adoptions are not allowed. Animals may transfer to other shelters or rescues at any time.Come meet Oklahoma Joe and see just how m

Story
Meet Teddy, a two-and-a-half-year-old Retriever/Boxer mix weighing 60 pounds. Teddy’s story starts with hardship, but it doesn’t define the dog he is today. He came to us through Animal Control after being surrendered by his owner, having lived in poor conditions with limited access to food and water. Despite everything he’s been through, Teddy has held onto a gentle, trusting heart. This sweet boy is lowkey and loving most of the time, happy to be by your side and soak up affection. He walks nicely on a leash, loves treats, and is eager to learn—he truly wants to please his people. Teddy has also shown that he is potty trained in a home environment. When he gets excited, Teddy can jump up, so a home without very young children would be the best fit. He would do best in a home without cats, as he does like to chase them. Teddy can do well with other dogs given a proper introduction.Teddy is ready for a fresh start with a family who will give him the stability, care, and love he’s always deserved. This pet is available for adoption on 5.1.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
