Story
We rescued Brax in 2020. He has a very dominant personality but is extremely affectionate with his owners. He is very needy in the sense he wants to be around you all the time. He was 1.5 when we rescued him and no nothing about his background other than he was found wandering the streets of Blue Ridge. My husband and I believe he was neglected. He barks when you are not paying attention to him. He needs to get alot of exercise and run! We have a doggy door and a fenced in yard. His favorite thing to do is be right by your side, running, or soaking up rays in the sun. I am aging, and I have difficulty controlling him. He is very excitable and jumps. He has knocked me over several times and I often fear for my safety. When we first got Brax, we enrolled him in obedience classes and he was not very successful. He knows and responds to very basic commands but will need more training which unfortunately I can’t give him. He’s extremely affectionate and is crate trained. It hurts my heart

Story
Meet Chico: The Loyal Athlete Chico is a vibrant, intelligent dog who excels at fetch and swimming. A food-motivated learner, he is remarkably self-aware and retreats to his crate when he needs a break, is stressed, or has anxiety. To thrive, Chico requires a single-pet, adult-only household with a dog-savvy owner. Predictability: He loves routine and thrives in low-traffic homes. Personal Space: Chico has a bite history linked to fear triggers (visitors, being startled, other dogs, if someone tries to take his food, being in the car ). He requires his quiet time in the evenings, leave him to be/rest No Other Pets: Due to dog aggression and resource guarding, he must be the only animal in the home. Does not get along w/other animals & is aggressive Minimal Travel: Car rides are stressful for him and trigger reactivity. He is crate-trained and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. If you are an experienced handler seeking a loyal, active partner, Chico is ready for his match.

Story
Are you looking for a loving dog who would love to take naps on your lap? Emillia is looking for a family that is ready for the excitement of a puppy, but who is already past most of the puppy challenging stages. This sweetheart is crate and potty trained, has all her shot and is spayed and is working on leash training and recall. Her favorite things are playing fetch and tug of war, but she also likes being outside and watching the birds and squirrels. Emillia will need to be in a home with another playful dog to help her build some confidence. When first meeting Emillia she becomes shy and unsure, but she warms up quickly. The vet expects her to be between 50-60lbs, and this girl adores mealtime and treats. The best home for Emillia would be one with a fenced in yard as she blossoms in familiar surroundings. Emillia has done well with children and cats so she should fit in with most households. Emillia is happy to sleep in her crate, in a bed on the floor or in the bed with you at night. When crated she doesn’t make a peep and waits patiently for you to open the door so she can give you all her love. She is in the teething stage, but her love for antlers keeps her occupied. Emillia has a velvet muzzle and belly, unique spots and a brindle mask, making her visually gorgeous. Her foster family adores her and knows once adopted she brighten the life of her family. If you would like to learn more about Emillia please apply with Hero Dog Rescue. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
