Story
Meet Mello Age: 5 years Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Spaniel–Jindo Mix Color: Brown / Ivory Weight: 15 kg Height: 57 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Mello entered a municipal shelter in February 2025 and spent 10 long months waiting for a chance. In December, just days before euthanasia, he was rescued and transferred to the AKR Center—where he’s finally been able to show his gentle, affectionate personality.   With People Mello is a very affectionate boy who loves human attention. He happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, leans in for pets, and enjoys being cuddled and held. He does not show fear toward men, though he clearly prefers women. He has not had experience with children under 13. Once he bonds with you, he’ll comfortably roll over to show his belly and soak up the love.   With Other Dogs Mello will greet unfamiliar dogs politely but isn’t interested in playing. He prefers doing his own thing—sniffing, marking, and spending time with people. Since being neutered after rescue, he has shown discomfort around larger male dogs. While he does not initiate fights, he may follow and warn similarly sized male dogs, so a home without male dogs is recommended. He does very well with female dogs and small dogs, regardless of energy level. Because he is people-oriented and not interested in canine friendships, Mello would truly thrive as the only dog in the home.   Cats & Small Animals On walks, Mello shows little interest in moving objects and stays focused on his walk. A home cat test is available.   Energy Level Low. Mello is calm, relaxed, and enjoys resting quietly.   ‍ Walks He has excellent leash manners and does not pull. Mello prefers sniffing over fast walking and enjoys frequent stops for scent exploration, marking, and his signature back-leg kicks.   Other Notes • Does not guard food with people or dogs • May guard toys slightly (as shownin the video); may bark briefly to protect his own toy but does not escalate or fight • No separation anxiety • Quiet and calm in a kennel or enclosure • Very happy and bouncy when people return • Rarely barks • 100% outdoor potty trained • May mark in new environments   Medical Note: Mello is missing his front teeth, and his lower right canine has been removed.   Mello is a gentle, people-loving boy who would do best in a calm home where he can be someone’s whole world. If you’re looking for a quiet companion who prefers humans over dog parks, Mello may be your perfect match. Story
Brown is one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet! His enthusiasm is contagious, and he finds pure joy in just about everything—walks, treats, belly rubs, and all the love he can get. With his high energy, Brown is looking for an active family who can provide plenty of exercise and ongoing training to keep him engaged and happy. He’s wonderful with people, including children, but his excitement can make him a bit jumpy, so a home without very small kids would be best. Brown is currently being assessed for his interactions with other dogs. He’s doing well with female dogs but will need slow and careful introductions to ensure positive relationships with other canine companions. Resilient and full of spirit, Brown has overcome a lot. He was transferred to us from another shelter, where he was rescued from a neglect and cruelty situation. Shortly after arriving, Brown was diagnosed with leishmaniasis, a disease transmitted by sand fly that requires daily medication and routine blood and urine testing. He also tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, both of which have been successfully treated, though his blood values still need regular monitoring. Despite these challenges, Brown’s vibrant personality hasn’t wavered. He was recently diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus, an immune disorder affecting his skin, but with treatment of a low-dose steroid, he’s doing well. Is Brown the loving, resilient companion you’ve been waiting for? His medical needs don’t slow him down, and they shouldn't slow you down from welcoming this wonderful boy into your home!

Story
Yum has overcome tremendous challenges with grace. Brought to us from another shelter who rescued her from an abusive situation Despite facing significant health challenges, Yum approaches life with remarkable adaptability and joy. She recently underwent surgery to remove both of her eyes due to blindness, chronic dry eye, and ongoing discomfort, but this hasn't slowed her down one bit. Yum navigates her world with impressive confidence and ease, proving that love and determination can overcome any obstacle. Because blind dogs thrive on consistency and familiarity, she would do best in a home where furniture and room layouts remain stable to help her feel secure and confident. Yum manages her health with daily medications for urinary incontinence and arthritis, both of which have significantly improved her comfort and quality of life. She takes her medications without any fuss. With a low to medium energy level, Yum is the perfect companion for someone seeking a calm, loving presence in their home. She absolutely adores food and is highly motivated by treats, making training and bonding a delightful experience. Her love for cuddles is unmatched, and she has the most endearing way of doing nose boops against you to find and connect with you. One of her most charming quirks is how much she enjoys having her hand or paw held, creating an instant bond with anyone willing to share this sweet gesture. Yum is a joy to walk with - she has excellent leash manners by following your lead without pulling. She has a delightful little trot that makes every walk an adventure, and she remains calm and composed around other dogs, she prefers to be with calm well mannered dogs. Car rides are a breeze with Yum, as she contentedly lies down for the entire journey. At home, Yum displays excellent house manners with just one small caveat: she'll get into the trash if it's not properly secured, but this is easily managed. She has no separation anxiety and is comfortable being left alone when needed. When it comes to rest and relaxation, Yum loves variety in her sleeping arrangements, happily rotating between her own bed, your bed, the couch, and cool floor spots depending on her mood. Yum's playful side emerges through her love of soft toys for cuddling and puzzle toys that dispense treats, combining her food motivation with mental stimulation. She also has the most adorable habit of loving to be picked up and flopped onto the couch for maximum comfort and closeness with her humans. This remarkable girl is looking for a patient, loving family who will appreciate her gentle nature and provide the consistent, caring environment she deserves. Yum has so much love to give and is ready to become someone's most devoted companion, proving every day that the best things in life come to those who open their hearts to dogs with special needs.

Story
Timon is a German Pointer mix with a sharp mind and a deep devotion to his people. This intelligent boy thrives in a structured environment where he can put his skills to good use—whether it's playing a game of fetch, learning new commands, or simply being by your side. While Timon is incredibly loyal to those he trusts, he needs time and patience when meeting new people. Slow, muzzled introductions are essential to help him feel safe and build positive associations. He also has some resource-guarding tendencies, so he’ll need an experienced adopter who understands how to manage and work through this behavior with consistency and confidence. Because of his breed and personality, Timon will do best in a home familiar with working breeds—one that can provide both mental and physical enrichment. With the right guidance, he will make an incredible companion for someone who respects his boundaries and is committed to continuing his training. Timon isn’t the kind of dog for everyone, but for the right person, he will be an unshakable, devoted companion. If you have experience with dogs like him and are looking for a smart, loving partner, Timon is ready to meet you!
