Story
Hi Brittany Lovers! My name is Hank and I am approximately 18 months old. When I got to NBRAN, I visited the vet and got all my vaccines and I was neutered. I am heartworm negative and I take my monthly heartworm preventatives like a good boy!  I am a very handsome male French Brittany, if I do say so myself. Actually, everyone that meets me says I am very handsome! At 30 lbs., I am a little guy.  I can be very shy, but I can also be very loving. One thing for sure, I don’t like you touching my feet!  Because, I had lived my life in a kennel with a concrete floor, I did not play or walk in the grass much.  That makes going to the potty on the grass confusing for me.  I was only allowed to relieve myself on the concrete.  I am very smart, but sometimes habits can be hard to break, and house training is not easy for me.  I would love a home with a housetrained doggie friend that would help me learn the ropes. Even though I have been “snipped,” female dogs still drive me to do things I shouldn’t sometimes. (my foster mom can elaborate).   I have never been around cats, but I don’t think I would like them very much! My foster family loves me but wants me to have a family of my very own.  I am still fixated with rolling in things that don’t smell so good, but my foster mom has worked with me, and I am getting lots better.  I need a home with a fenced backyard to run in, and a doggie door would help me with housetraining, although it is not a “must have.” I am a Houdini in my collar and harness and have been known to try to get out of them (successfully) and explore. Do you think you would like me to come be part of your family? If you have patience and a loving home where I can have a doggie sibling and fenced backyard, I would love to come live with you! My adoption fee is $400 to help offset the expenses associated with getting me ( and other fabulous rescued Brittanys) in great condition for a fabulous new home.  You don't have to live in Tennessee, NBRAN will transport me up to 1400 miles to my furever home. Please contact Suzanne Horsley ztasuzanne@gmail.com or Debbie Tuthill agilitybrits@gmail.com  to find out more about me! Story
Darling Dottie is ready to be your best friend and adventure partner, whether it is exploring nature or riding shotgun in your vehicle!  Dottie is a beautiful, smart independent 8-year-old, 54 lb,  orange and white spayed female who is full of energy. She loves attention and lovin. In addition, Dottie loves outdoor adventures and enjoys scanning the woods for birds and other critters. Because she has a high prey drive and is also very food driven, she can be competitive and does not like to lose. As a matter of fact, when food is involved, she gets nervous and demanding. Her adopter needs to understand that she gives doggie nips in an attempt to get affection. Dottie wants to be first; losing to other dogs is not in her barkcabulary. Due to her competitiveness, if Dottie has a fursibling, the fursibling must have a submissive and easygoing personality.  Also, only homes with older considerate children will be considered. To keep this sweet girl emotionally stimulated, lots of enrichment is recommended. Given the chance , Dottie would excel in dog sports such as agility and barn hunt. Due to her keen sense pf smell, scent games in the house and in the backyard would be the perfect activity to keep her mind and body busy in addition to giving Dottie lots of opportunities to win the day! In true Brittany fashion, Dottie pulls and rushes on a leash. Additional leash training is in order. A fenced yard is required for Dottie. She loves to run for the fun of it. Precious Dottie is housetrained and even though she is crate trained, she is trusted alone in the house; however, she is a well accomplished counter surfer and if not locked, will slide open doors with her nose. At her previous foster she wore and responded to an e collar for recall. Her nose simply gets the best of her, so at times, without the e collar Dottie has selective hearing. Even though Dottie can be super active and instinctive, she gives lots of love and affection. She has been well loved and will be a fabulous dog for the right home. Below is Dottie’s furever home wishlist: A home full of love with lots of hugs, snuggles, patience and understanding An active home with outdoor adventures A spacious fenced back yard An easygoing and submissive doggie fursibling - NO CATS Dottie would also appreciate the following (though not required) Agility Scent activities Dottie's adoption fee is $350 to offset vetting costs. She is currently located in North Georgia, but can be transported up to 1400 miles to an approved adopter. (with the adopter being responsible for the last up to 100 miles). Story
Pete is a 4-year-old Brittany neutered male. He is an endearing quirky boy that is kind, gentle and affectionate. Pete was born with cataracts and was completely blind when he came to NBRAN. A diagnosis and treatment plan that included surgery was quickly decided after an NBRAN volunteer took Pete to an appointment with a doggie ophthalmologist. The surgery was successful and Pete regained his sight.  Even though the surgery was successful, Pete can become fixated on light and shadows. Pete's favorite activity is playing fetch and retrieving the ball.  Like lots of Brittanys, Pete has been known to try and occasionally succeed in eating nonfood items. While Pete is outside, if exposed to items like sticks and acorns, he needs to be watched. But most of the time, he is far too busy joyfully retrieving a ball instead of eating things he should not. Like a typical young dog, he will eat items inside he should not. Pete has been trained to wear a muzzle and does not mind it if his adopter feels necessary. He is crate trained, but no blankets, pillows, or pads please. If you want a lovebug, Pete is your dog. Did I mention he loves belly rubs? While Pete can be quite social with older considerate children and adults, he is not so great with other dogs. Pete MUST BE THE ONLY DOG IN THE HOME-NO EXCEPTIONS! He is so kind to people and he has the softest touch. He will be a great companion for a retired family or families with older children. A secure fenced yard would be ideal for him to be able to explore and to safely fetch the ball. Pete's foster mom loves him and so will you. Pete is a great leash walker and has perfect recall. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccines. Pete requires eye drops once a day, but do not let that influence your decision not to learn more about this sweet boy. Reach out to us and let us discuss it. Other than that, Pete is extremely healthy.    He loves to ride in the car and watch the world go by while looking out the window. Pete is eager to please and will do anything ask of him. He is a happy dog and when he is tired, he loves to sit and cuddle.    Precious Pete's adoption Fee is $400 to help offset medical expenses. NBRAN will provide transportation, up to 1400 miles, to an approved home. Story
Meet Your New Best Friend! Jayce is a 3-year-old Brittnay Mix who is looking for his forever home. While he might be a little shy when you first meet him, give him a moment to come out of his shell, and you'll find a funny, bouncy, and deeply loving companion. Jayce is a "paws-on" kind of dog! He is famous for his hugs and will spend his time trying to wrap his paws around you if he isn't already trying to curl up in your lap. He is the perfect blend of a lounge partner and a playmate. Because of his cautious temperament, Jayce has some specific needs to help him feel safe and successful: No Other Dogs: He prefers being the "only child" and can be reactive toward strange dogs. Quiet Environment: He would not enjoy the high-stress environment of a dog park. Patient Humans: He needs an owner who understands he needs to approach new things at his own pace. No Strangers (at first): He can be vocal with people he doesn't know, but his loyalty to his inner circle is unmatched. If you have the patience to let him blossom, you will be rewarded with a level of love and loyalty that only a dog like Jayce can give. He is ready to be your most devoted friend. Jayce's adoption fee is $325 to offset the cost of vetting and help other rescues in need. He is currently located in Georgia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad.
