Dreadlocks is a Brussels Griffon puppy. He is very docile in nature and a total sweetheart. He is pretty chill and is happy just being nearby where he can see you. He sleeps well on his bed, but loves a couch nap close to his people! He loves food, especially treats so is very food motivated. He just learned to go up the stairs, but going downstairs is still a little scary and he is cautious of crossing thresholds when entering spaces which he is working on, but he loves a good run on the other side! Dreadlocks is very affectionate and loves be held. He will cuddle you with his legs around your neck! He sleeps well overnight on his bed and likes to take naps on the couch. Potty training is in progress! He is mostly going outside but still having some accidents inside. Dreadlocks just wants companionship and can get a little distressed when people are out of sight. He just likes knowing someone is nearby! He is good with other dogs and cars and is food motivated. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

The oh so spirited & full of personality Slinky ended up in a death camp of a scary shelter in CA. He looked absolutely defeated & so extremely frightened. He was posted online on social media begging for his life to be saved as he was going to be euthanized. He was out of time. He was posted looking a lot thinner than he is now, he had so much fur missing & obviously neglected. We could not let him lose his life & we were the only ones who showed interest in saving him. Slinky came back to WA state from CA where he can’t wait to find a home to love him. The absolute insanity to think this amazing soul ended up in one of the highest kill shelters in CA is soul destroying. Slinky just wants to be loved. The level of absolute madness here is so deeply sad for many of these beautiful souls out of CA kill shelters. He is uncertain of new people at first, then he is your best friend once he knows you. We do know his finder did grab him quickly on the streets in CA & it was not a good experience for him & he nipped the finder because he was frightened. When we first rescued him, he ate multiple bowls of food as if he is making up for lost time. In his foster home he eats clean. Fruits, vegetables, grains, raw meat & other proteins along with supplements. He also adores a good treat which are homemade. When it’s time to eat he gets very excited & can jump high with enthusiasm over & over again & will let you know he wants his food. He does get excited now & has a big zest for life, love & adventure. This boy will look at you with so much gratitude & admiration & his foster mum said he is really such a good & smart boy. He loves everyone he meets after he knows them & enjoys being cuddled & given love. He also enjoys snuggling up on the couch & spend his day relaxing. He enjoys sleeping on the couch & sleeping in bed with you at night. If he is sleeping on the couch & a dog annoys him, he will let them know & go mad at them for waking him up. His foster mum still cannot believe someone would abandon him as he is so lovely & can be carried around & enjoys his belly being rubbed & will fall asleep while doing it. Slinky new forever home must have a fully fenced secured backyard. He enjoys going out into the backyard in his foster home & having a wander around & sunning himself. Slinky has been great with his baths because he started having them with us in his loving foster homes the moment he was rescued so he is used to them. He has also started getting used to being dried with a hairdryer. He will stand up & hug you while drying him. He has put on a good amount of weight since being in his loving foster home & was so thin when first rescued. Slinky rides beautifully in the car & enjoys a good journey & will sit in his car seat next to you with his dog friends. He also enjoys looking out the window. Slinky still needs work walking on his harness & leash & is still learning. We are looking for a forever home for Slinky where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. We are also looking for a crate free home for the little lad only. We cannot stress this enough that due to the trauma he experienced at the shelter he must not be put into a crate. He loses his mind. He was left in a cage in the shelter until we rescued him. Slinky is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Slinky has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & fostered with other dogs in his foster home & does well with them & enjoys their company. He absolutely needs another dog in his forever home for him to thrive. He will play with any size dog that is up for his playing. Slinky is roughly 1.7 years old & 12.4 lbs, he is male, & possibly a brussels griffon mix. What he is mixed with we are not sure. He is now neutered & had a dental cleaning. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Once these shots expire we do not redo them only rabies as we do not over vaccinate our beloved dogs. Slinky has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together. We have not had him around small children in the rescue so we do not recommend children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children. We were not there when Slinky was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Slinky’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Slinky potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Slinky has been through many traumas in his short time on this earth so when applying this needs to be kept in mind & for his care. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Slinky & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Slinky who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this spirited little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Meet Milo Milo is a 14-year-old Shih Tzu gentleman with a soft spirit and the calm wisdom that only comes with age. This sweet little grandpa found himself as a stray in California and ended up at Ventura County Animal Services, where he quickly became a favorite among the shelter staff. Everyone adored him and hoped he would find a loving home to spend his golden years. When we saw his sweet face, we knew we had to help — and Milo made the journey to Washington to start his next chapter. Milo is a very chill, low-energy guy who enjoys the simple things in life: cozy beds, warm blankets, and a little time outside to explore the world through his nose. Milo is blind, so when he arrives in a new space he likes to slowly “map” his surroundings by exploring and pacing a bit. Once he learns the layout, he settles in beautifully and is perfectly content relaxing in a comfy bed or snuggling up nearby. He’s gentle, quiet, and easygoing — the definition of a sweet senior companion. Milo gets along well with other dogs and would likely be fine with cats or respectful children, though he doesn’t necessarily need other animals around to be happy. He would thrive in a quiet, cozy home where he can enjoy a peaceful retirement. Milo does well with pee pads and also understands that outside is the place to potty. His heart medications make him need to go more frequently, but he manages it well and happily goes when taken outside. He walks nicely on leash and enjoys short strolls or gentle yard exploration. Due to his age and health conditions, Milo is considered a hospice-type senior. His heart disease is currently well managed with medication, but it’s possible that Milo may simply be living out the final chapter of his life. What he truly deserves is a loving home where he can enjoy the very best sunsets of his life — surrounded by warmth, kindness, and someone who cherishes him for however long he has. To help support Milo and his adopter, NorthWest Wag will reimburse one full year of his heart medication and will cover the cost of a dental within the first year of adoption (performed at our partner vet in Gig Harbor).
