Quick Facts: Name: Dixie Age: 4 years Weight: 7 kg / 15.4 lbs Breed: Brussels Griffon Spayed: Yes Vaccinated: Yes Heartworm Test: Negative Behavior & Training: Good with dogs Good with kids (hasn’t lived with children, but has a gentle temperament) Good with cats Potty trained Crate trained Walks well on leash – loves her outdoor strolls Food protective – she just needs her own space at mealtime Alone Time:Dixie currently lives comfortably in a shared space with other foster dogs. Sleeping Setup:She sleeps peacefully in a cozy bed next to her foster siblings. Personality:Dixie is a sweet, loyal, and affectionate little companion who thrives on love and attention. She’s the perfect size to go anywhere with you—whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, a road trip, or curling up on the couch. She’s social, calm, and great with other dogs. Though she hasn’t lived with kids, her loving and gentle nature makes her a wonderful fit for families. She’s also an ideal second dog—she enjoys canine company and knows how to share space respectfully. All she asks for is her own quiet spot to eat—other than that, she’s easygoing and full of love to give. Dixie’s Ideal Home:Dixie would be happiest in a home where she can be part of the action—going for walks, riding in the car, and soaking up cuddles on the couch. She’d do well with singles, couples, or families, and would love to have a calm dog sibling (or be your one and only). Her small size and good manners make her a great fit for city living or cozy spaces. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance lovebug with a resilient spirit and a whole lot of heart—Dixie’s your girl. Dixie’s Rescue Story – A Journey from Survival to LoveDixie was rescued from an unthinkable situation. She was found in heartbreaking condition—malnourished, covered in painful skin issues, and emotionally shut down. Her life up to that point had been one of survival. She was being kept by a homeless man who used her solely to breed puppies, selling them on the street for money. Dixie had given everything she had to care for those pups—at great cost to herself. When her rescuer found her, she pleaded to save the whole group. The man refused to give up the puppies, but he let Dixie go. It was the first act of kindness she'd received in a long time. That day changed everything. Dixie received immediate medical attention, nourishing food, and—most importantly—love. Slowly but surely, she began to heal. Her fur grew back. Her eyes brightened. And her personality emerged: soft, soulful, and full of quiet strength. Dixie is Ready for Her Second ChanceDixie is safe now—but what she needs next is a forever home where she’ll never be used or forgotten again. She’s come so far. Now all she needs is someone to love her like she deserves. From pain To healing To a new beginning Will you be the one to give Dixie the forever she’s been waiting for? Story
Currently in a toronto foster home I’m a male Cairn Terrier mix with short little legs, a fluffy coat, and a soft heart that’s slowly learning how to heal. I weigh about 8 kg, and though I may look small, I carry a quiet strength inside me. My past wasn’t kind. I spent years tied up and mistreated by the person who was supposed to care for me. Because of that, I’m still learning what it means to feel safe and loved. I’m not the kind of dog who runs up to greet you right away—in fact, I can be very shy at first. When I’m unsure, I might back away or avoid being touched, and I may not let you pet me right away. But if you give me time, space, and gentle patience… I will start to trust you. And when I do trust you—truly trust you—I’ll come to you on my own, ready for affection, ready to show my love. It just takes time. Once I open my heart, I become incredibly affectionate and will stay by your side like I’ve always belonged there. I get along well with other dogs and enjoy their company. I’m quiet, rarely bark, and I have a sweet, calming presence that makes me a comforting companion. If you already have another pup, I’d probably love the friendship. One thing to know about me: because I lived so long tied up, I feel calmer and safer when I have a collar or leash on, especially in new places or when meeting new people. It helps me feel more grounded, and I tend to be more gentle and composed in those moments. Also, please don’t give me places to hide. If there’s a table or small corner, I’ll likely curl up there and stay hidden. It’s just how I learned to protect myself. But if the space is open and cozy, I’ll slowly start choosing to be near you instead. I was neutered later in life, so I sometimes mark indoors, but this should get better as I adjust to a new routine. I’m still working on outdoor potty training, but I enjoy my walks and want to keep learning. With consistency and love, I know I’ll keep improving. What I really need is someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like tail wags and face kisses right away. Sometimes, love looks like quiet trust. Like sitting nearby. Like slowly walking toward you instead of away. Like the day I finally choose your lap over the safety of a corner. If you're patient, kind, and have a gentle heart, I promise I’ll meet you there—and you’ll get to watch me grow into the loving, loyal dog I was always meant to be. Could you be the one to give me the safe, forever home I’ve always dreamed of? With hope, Hope 🐶
