Story
Meet Milo Milo is a 14-year-old Shih Tzu gentleman with a soft spirit and the calm wisdom that only comes with age. This sweet little grandpa found himself as a stray in California and ended up at Ventura County Animal Services, where he quickly became a favorite among the shelter staff. Everyone adored him and hoped he would find a loving home to spend his golden years. When we saw his sweet face, we knew we had to help — and Milo made the journey to Washington to start his next chapter. Milo is a very chill, low-energy guy who enjoys the simple things in life: cozy beds, warm blankets, and a little time outside to explore the world through his nose. Milo is blind, so when he arrives in a new space he likes to slowly “map” his surroundings by exploring and pacing a bit. Once he learns the layout, he settles in beautifully and is perfectly content relaxing in a comfy bed or snuggling up nearby. He’s gentle, quiet, and easygoing — the definition of a sweet senior companion. Milo gets along well with other dogs and would likely be fine with cats or respectful children, though he doesn’t necessarily need other animals around to be happy. He would thrive in a quiet, cozy home where he can enjoy a peaceful retirement. Milo does well with pee pads and also understands that outside is the place to potty. His heart medications make him need to go more frequently, but he manages it well and happily goes when taken outside. He walks nicely on leash and enjoys short strolls or gentle yard exploration. Due to his age and health conditions, Milo is considered a hospice-type senior. His heart disease is currently well managed with medication, but it’s possible that Milo may simply be living out the final chapter of his life. What he truly deserves is a loving home where he can enjoy the very best sunsets of his life — surrounded by warmth, kindness, and someone who cherishes him for however long he has. To help support Milo and his adopter, NorthWest Wag will reimburse one full year of his heart medication and will cover the cost of a dental within the first year of adoption (performed at our partner vet in Gig Harbor). Milo may be in his golden years, but he is still the most dapper little gentleman around — especially when sporting a cozy sweater. He’s a handsome, independent love bug who simply wants a soft place to rest and someone to share a blanket (and maybe a stinky snack) with. If you have a quiet home and a soft spot for seniors, Milo would love to spend his golden days by your side. www.northwestwagrescue.org Adoption fee $200 ##2652164##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Waffles… yes, like the breakfast. And just like breakfast, he is the BEST way to start your day. &#226&#156&#168 Waffles is a 1½-year-old Brussels Griffon mix with a face that looks permanently concerned about where the snacks are — and a personality that says, “LET’S GOOOOO!” This little guy is powered by joy, zoomies, and possibly espresso. He is very energetic and looking for a young family or active person who’s ready to keep up with his “fun first, nap later” lifestyle. If you’ve been thinking about jogging, hiking, playing fetch, or just laughing more… Waffles has entered the chat. He loves: • Toys (all of them, immediately) • Running like he’s late for something important • His dog friends • Getting petted • Basically every human he meets Waffles is social, affectionate, and always ready for the next adventure. He’d thrive in a home that will keep him mentally and physically busy — because a bored Waffles is a Waffles planning his next Olympic event. At the end of the day, after the zoomies are complete and the toys are properly defeated, he’s happy to soak up affection and remind you why you adopted the cutest little whirlwind on four legs. Adoption fee: $400 Transport available to the Northeast and Midwest for $250 Ready to add a little syrupy sweetness and a whole lot of energy to your life?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 1:30 pm

Story
Meet Mari! Mari is a female Cairn Terrier mix who can’t wait to find her new forever home. Weighing a petite18 lbs, Mari is gentle, sweet, and loving. She is approximately 5 years old. She is spayed, and up to date on her shots. Cairn Terriers are known for their charming, spirited, and bold personalities. Mari is both playful and affectionate. She is a good fit if you appreciate liveliness and snuggling.  She has plenty of energy and loves to play, making her a joy for families and active individuals.  Cairn Terriers are intelligent and can seem stubborn. She is smart and learns quickly. She can also be a bit independent-minded. Consistent training is key!  What makes Mari wonderful is her curious and adventurous attitude. Her inquisitive nature makes her a natural explorer. Mari is loyal and she likes to form strong bonds with her family.  She likes to stay close and always knows where home is. One of Mari’s favorite pastimes is a good snooze on cozy dog beds or comfy blankets.  She doesn’t mind sleeping with little disturbances in her own space. She can happily sleep in her own room and prefers her own bed.  Mari enjoys a good brushing, and it relaxes her instantly.   Despite Mari’s small size, she has a big, fearless attitude which is common in Cairn Terriers.   Mari is brave and confident. She often thinks of herself as much larger than she is. She’s good with other dogs in the dog park. However, she is known to dominate other dogs who look like her.  She also enjoys some time in front of the mirror and appreciates her reflection.  Because of Mari’s dominant nature, she is leash reactive.   She is fine with other dogs when her leash is not attached but will become more assertive if she is near another dog while on her leash.  Her leash reactivity needs work and she needs a competent handler who is motivated to help her learn. Mari loves tasty treats and will hold off on her scheduled meals in hopes of something worthy of her palate.  Mari does not have accidents inside. However, be watchful for the first five nights as she is sorting out her surroundings.   Mari is perfect for someone who enjoys an energetic, snuggly, and entertaining companion. Mari is not suitable for a home with smaller children. She likes her space at times and prefers a more calm setting. She is not suited for a home with cats or other small critters. Her adoption fee is $450   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon!
