Story
Lola is the sweetest 2-year-old Bull Terrier mix who weighs 32 lbs. She was found wandering the streets of Bakersfield and likely had a litter of puppies prior to being rescued. Her foster Dad was sent a Facebook post from the shelter, which announced her impending euthanization due to lack of public interest (likely due to her breed being hastily labeled as “Pit Bull” at the time). Luckily, Lola was taken in by her foster Dad six hours before her scheduled euthanization. Despite her past, Lola has the most loving and calm temperament, and is the absolute definition of a “Velcro dog”. She quietly shadows her foster Dad wherever he goes, then crawls into his lap when he sits down. Her favorite activities include snuggling, cuddling, and receiving belly rubs! She recently discovered the joy of chasing a ball and will always try to get her foster brothers to join her. Lola bonds to humans and other dogs very quickly, no matter their age, gender, or size, becoming a member of the family within hours! As for obedience, Lola is currently working on minimizing licking, which she often does when excited. However, with some gentle warnings and treats, Lola responds well to training and is a fast learner. She is already fully crate-trained and potty-trained; every foster’s dream! While she does get along with other dogs of all sizes and ages, Lola is not strongly dependent on canine companionship; she would be happy regardless of another dog in the home. She prioritizes snuggling with her family, receiving lots of pets, and eating yummy snacks! MEDICAL HISTORY: Lola does not have a history of medical issues, underlying health problems, or is in need of veterinary care. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. IDEAL HOME: Lola would do best with an individual or family who is moderately active and ready to give her all the snuggles! She gets along with dogs of all sizes and ages (including puppies), as well as humans and young children. We would be open to potential adopters living in an apartment or condo, as long as daily walks are routine. FUN FACTS: - Lola is a relatively calm pup, and would rather cuddle on the couch than roughhouse. - She is usually quite indifferent to other dogs, but will play if initiated! - She has an adorable smiling expression when she is happy or content. - Lola sleeps beside her foster Dad every night. - She always waits for “permission” before jumping on her foster Dad’s lap!

Story
Meet Zero! A rambunctious almost two-year-old Bull Terrier currently living in El Cajon, CA, whose tricolor coat is as bold and unique as his personality. With a heart full of loyalty and an energetic spirit just waiting to shine, Zero is a loving pup who’s navigating the big world and learning where he fits in. Zero is a high-energy companion who thrives on activity, especially when it involves water, a game of fetch, or a round of tug-of-war! He knows a few basic cues like “sit,” “stay,” and “come,” and he's crate-trained and house-trained, great foundations to build on with a patient, positive reinforcement–focused caregiver. What he needs now is consistent companionship and a calm, structured environment where he can feel safe, secure, and supported. Because Zero hasn’t had much socialization or enrichment early on, he’s still figuring out how to handle some parts of the world. He can be fearful of strangers, particularly men and children, and occasionally shows resource guarding behavior. He’s not aggressive, but he does need gentle guidance and someone who understands that progress takes time. A calm home without other pets, especially cats, would be the best match for this sensitive soul. Zero is especially suited for someone who’s home often and can provide routine, clear communication, and reassurance. He’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply and gives his whole heart to his trusted person. While he may start off shy or cautious, give him the time and space he needs, and you’ll unlock an affectionate, goofy, water-loving buddy who will be your constant companion! With his strong, playful nature and endearing loyalty, Zero is ready to bloom in the right hands. Could Zero be the companion you've been waiting for? If you're ready to welcome a quirky, affectionate, and spirited friend into your life, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Story
At 6 years old, this handsome bulldog mix is the perfect blend of playful spirit and loyal companion. He’s got a big personality, a goofy sense of humor, and a wonky tail wag that could melt any heart. Tennis balls are his absolute favorite—he’ll happily play fetch until your arm gets tired (don’t worry, he’s got plenty of energy to keep going!). Strong and athletic, he’d thrive in a home that can keep up with his enthusiasm for life. Because of his size and strength, he’d do best with older kids who can match his energy. He’s also a social pup, getting along great with other dogs, and his silly antics are sure to keep you laughing every day. If you’re looking for a dog who will fill your home with joy, fun, and unconditional love, Hobbs is ready to meet you!   Thank you for wanting to adopt from Hank's Legacy Foundation. Story
Barkley is a fantastic puppy. I haven’t seen any signs of fear toward people—in fact, I see very little fear at all. He seems to be a stable, confident, and balanced little guy. I haven’t noticed any separation anxiety outside the normal scope for a young puppy. He may whine a bit in the crate, but he settles quickly and recovers well. It’s not excessive and well within what’s typical for his age. Barkley is very patient during training. He follows a lure beautifully, and it’s easy to shape new behaviors with him. We’re currently working on marker words and leash skills, and he’s picking up the concepts quickly. This is going to be an easy dog to train. He’s also very neutral to loud noises and environmental stimuli, which is a great trait in a puppy. His energy level is mild—not over the top—which makes him a really enjoyable companion. Barkley’s going to make a wonderful dog for just about anyone Thank you for wanting to adopt from Hank's Legacy Foundation.
