Story
Lola is a very sweet 2-year-old Bull Terrier mix who weighs 32 lbs. She was found wandering the streets of Bakersfield and likely had a litter of puppies prior to being rescued. She was scheduled to be euthanized at the shelter for lack of space. She is currently in a foster home, rescued hours before her time was up. Lola is very loving, has a calm temperament, loves to cuddle and get belly rubs. She gets along great with adults, kids and other dogs. She would be best suited with an individual or family who is fairly active. She could possibly live in an apartment if daily walks are routine. She loves to play with other dogs regardless of size and is pretty indifferent with cats. She is crate and house trained: the foster is working on basic obedience commands with her. She is healthy, up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Lola is relatively calm and would rather follow you around and cuddle on the couch than roughhouse. If you are interested in Lola please complete the application on the website: www.amrdog.org. or email us for more information: adoptmerescue@gmail.com.

Story
Meet Rocky, our Contra Costa Animal Services survivor ❤️ Rocky was rescued just minutes before being euthanized after arriving at the shelter as a stray. The shelter environment was confusing, scary, and stressful for him—but even through it all, Rocky showed nothing but kindness. He remained friendly with staff and other dogs and quickly became everyone’s favorite. Rocky is a 3.5-year-old Bull Terrier mix, weighing about 50 lbs. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Rocky is great with people and other dogs and absolutely loves to play with his canine friends. He is house trained, great with kids, handles very well on the leash. He is so eager to learn and please. He’s a happy, loving boy who is ready to leave his past behind and start a new chapter. Rocky truly deserves the very best—a loving forever home where he will be cherished as part of the family. If you are interested in adopting or foster-to-adopt Rocky, please contact the rescue.June 9, 2026, 3:26 am

Story
Lola is the sweetest 2-year-old Bull Terrier mix who weighs 32 lbs. She was found wandering the streets of Bakersfield and likely had a litter of puppies prior to being rescued. Her foster Dad was sent a Facebook post from the shelter, which announced her impending euthanization due to lack of public interest (likely due to her breed being hastily labeled as “Pit Bull” at the time). Luckily, Lola was taken in by her foster Dad six hours before her scheduled euthanization. Despite her past, Lola has the most loving and calm temperament, and is the absolute definition of a “Velcro dog”. She quietly shadows her foster Dad wherever he goes, then crawls into his lap when he sits down. Her favorite activities include snuggling, cuddling, and receiving belly rubs! She recently discovered the joy of chasing a ball and will always try to get her foster brothers to join her. Lola bonds to humans and other dogs very quickly, no matter their age, gender, or size, becoming a member of the family within hours! As for obedience, Lola is currently working on minimizing licking, which she often does when excited. However, with some gentle warnings and treats, Lola responds well to training and is a fast learner. She is already fully crate-trained and potty-trained; every foster’s dream! While she does get along with other dogs of all sizes and ages, Lola is not strongly dependent on canine companionship; she would be happy regardless of another dog in the home. She prioritizes snuggling with her family, receiving lots of pets, and eating yummy snacks! MEDICAL HISTORY: Lola does not have a history of medical issues, underlying health problems, or is in need of veterinary care. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. IDEAL HOME: Lola would do best with an individual or family who is moderately active and ready to give her all the snuggles! She gets along with dogs of all sizes and ages (including puppies), as well as humans and young children. We would be open to potential adopters living in an apartment or condo, as long as daily walks are routine. FUN FACTS: - Lola is a relatively calm pup, and would rather cuddle on the couch than roughhouse. - She is usually quite indifferent to other dogs, but will play if initiated! - She has an adorable smiling expression when she is happy or content. - Lola sleeps beside her foster Dad every night. - She always waits for “permission” before jumping on her foster Dad’s lap!

Story
Meet Zero! A spirited two-year-old Bull Terrier currently living in El Cajon, CA, whose tricolor coat is as bold and unforgettable as his personality. With a heart full of loyalty and an energetic spark that lights up every room, Zero is a devoted boy who forms deep bonds and gives his whole heart to his person. Zero is a high-energy companion who thrives on nonstop play and connection. He absolutely loves tug-of-war and fetch, though he sometimes likes to hold onto the toy a little longer just to keep the game interesting! Walks are a favorite adventure, and if there is water nearby, even better! He knows cues like sit, stay, and come, and he is both crate-trained and house-trained. He needs patience and time to build trust, but once he feels secure, his affectionate nature truly shines. Zero currently lives in a home with another dog, but they are kept separate, as he thrives best as the only dog in a structured, calm environment. He bonds closely with his primary caregiver and prefers focused attention. He lives with two children and peacefully coexists with them, though he does not actively engage and instead chooses to stay close to his trusted person. He can feel fearful around unfamiliar men and may tuck his tail and bark if someone approaches too quickly. However, he has made wonderful progress with a man who is now his second caregiver. Though he was initially unsure, he gradually warmed up and now responds to him consistently, showing his ability to build trust with patient, understanding individuals. Zero is extremely affectionate and fully believes he is a lap dog. If his guardian is sitting or lying down, he wants to be right on top of her, soaking up every bit of closeness! When she is standing, he gently nudges for attention or places his head between her legs, asking for connection. He craves reassurance, structure, and positive reinforcement training that helps him feel confident and understood. This playful, loyal boy will flourish in a patient, caring environment where he can continue growing and bonding deeply. Could Zero be the loyal shadow you have been hoping for? Story
Meet Lily: The Queen of Zoomies & Snuggles! Looking for a pup who will shower you with love, keep you laughing, and turn every day into an adventure? Lily is pure love, sunshine and unfiltered joy. Lily has never met a stranger—just future best friends she hasn’t licked yet. And she loves with the enthusiasm of someone who just found out belly rubs are free. She’s never met a person she didn’t adore, a dog she didn’t want to be best friends with, or a snack she didn’t think was rightfully hers. Personal space? That’s a concept Lily simply does not recognize. Whether she’s zooming through the yard like a tiny tornado or flopping dramatically into your lap for belly rubs, Lily is all about living life to the fullest. If you’re looking for a snuggle- loving, zoomie-powered, joy-spreading best friend who will make every day more entertaining, Lily is your girl. Come meet her-you won’t regret it (though your personal space might.)
