Story
Horchata was rescued about a year ago from a local shelter. He turned out to be a great dog. Very easy going. He won’t even bark at other dogs. He loves to meet people and has a lot of energy. On walks he does not pull. He is very good about doing his business as well. He’s house trained and knows basic commands. He has a little quirk that he likes to walk backwards through door openings.

Story
I am currently looking to rehome my dog Henry. He is truly the sweetest, snuggliest dog and just wants to be with his person. I’ve recently gone back to work and have become aware of his separation anxiety. I currently have him on anti anxiety medication, but I don’t want him medicated five days a week consistently. His meds do help so he can be left alone if necessary. He is house and crate trained. I am looking for someone who works from home/SAHM/is home consistently to adopt him. When someone is home with him he is low energy, snuggly and happy to lay on the couch with you. He is the perfect WFH buddy. He would do well as a single dog or with a friend. He enjoys playing with other dogs. Some quick facts about him - 40 pounds - 1 year old - pit mix - knows basic commands - house trained - crate trained - has anxiety medication - loves to snuggle - used to three 20 minute walks per day

Story
SOS!! Cinnamon Sugar SOS - - she was only given 1 month of foster. Meet Cinnamon Sugar, a 2–3-year-old, 50-lb sweetheart who has spent far too long simply trying to survive after someone seemingly left her behind. Everything about Cinnamon tells us she was once someone’s dog. She is incredibly well-behaved, potty trained in the yard, wonderful on a leash, perfect in the car, and knows exactly how to live alongside people. At some point, the family she trusted disappeared, leaving this incredibly sweet girl to fend for herself. Cinnamon stayed around the same neighborhood, seemingly believing it was still her home. But life there became increasingly dangerous. Feral street pack dogs bullied and chased her, neighbors no longer wanted her around, and recently a loose dog even attacked her. Somehow, through all of it, Cinnamon remained gentle, trusting, and desperate for affection. Thankfully, one kind neighbor has offered Cinnamon a safe foster home — but only for one month. We now have a small window to find this deserving girl the forever family she has been waiting for. Cinnamon is spayed, vaccinated, 4DX negative, fully vetted, and up to date on preventatives. She loves other dogs, has lived peacefully around cats, and is truly the kind of easy, loving companion who just wants to belong. Cinnamon is currently in Puerto Rico, but she can be adopted anywhere in the U.S. Like all of our Puerto Rico rescues, we will arrange her flight off the island to her adoptive family, and her transport is included in her adoption fee. Someone may have abandoned Cinnamon once, but she never stopped believing in people. Now she has one month of safety while we find the person who will finally show her that this time, she is home forever.

Story
Rocco is a young Pit Bull Terrier/Bull Terrier mix with a Valentine's Day birthday (Feb 14, 2025) — fitting, since he's got so much love to give once you earn his trust! We adopted him through Adopt-a-Pet.com. His previous owners reported conflicts with other dogs, especially over food, leaving him with some scars, and recommended he be the only pet going forward — a setup where he's truly thrived with us. Rocco is goofy, playful, and full of energy, loving long walks, runs, and lake swims. He can be reserved with new people at first, checking in with us before deciding someone's safe, but once he trusts you, he becomes the most loyal and affectionate companion. Despite unfair breed stereotypes, he's proven himself gentle, sweet, and endlessly goofy. We're sadly rehoming him since my husband developed a severe dog allergy. We hope his next home keeps him as the only pet and gives him the love and companionship he deserves. Adjectives: Loyal, goofy, playful, affectionate, energetic.

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 7-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
