Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 7-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
I’m looking for a very specific home for my dog, Titan—a 4-year-old boxer/bullmastiff mix (about 65 lbs). Titan is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and forms strong bonds with his person. Once he trusts you, he is calm, loving, and wants to stay close. He does best in a structured environment with clear boundaries and consistency. He is not a dog for everyone. Titan is wary of strangers and needs slow, controlled introductions to new people. He is most comfortable in a low-traffic home without frequent visitors. There was a past incident where he bit a family member’s hand during a high-stress situation when multiple people were around him and he was being handled near his face. The injury required medical attention but was not severe, and there has not been a pattern of repeated incidents. With proper structure and awareness of his boundaries, he has been manageable and stable. Titan would do best in:
• An adult-only home (no children)
• A low-traffic environment
• Someone experience

💜 Meet Connor 💜 Connor is the kind of puppy who believes everyone is a potential new best friend. Curious, social, and always ready for an adventure, this sweet boy loves exploring the world and soaking up attention wherever he goes. Connor recently joined us for our Fore Paws Golf Tournament at Hopkinton Country Club, where he proved he was a natural. He happily met new people, enjoyed all the pets he could collect, and handled the excitement of a busy event like a champ. After making the rounds and showing off his adorable puppy personality, he was more than happy to settle in for a well-earned nap. Like any young puppy, Connor is looking for a family ready for all the fun that comes with raising a dog—training, socialization, playtime, and plenty of love. If you're ready for a best friend to grow alongside your family, discover new adventures with you, and blossom into an incredible lifelong companion, Connor can't wait to meet you.

💜 Meet Colby 💜 If you're looking for a puppy who can make you smile without even trying, Colby might be your perfect match. This sweet, playful boy loves making new friends and approaches life with a happy-go-lucky attitude. Colby recently spent the day at our Fore Paws Golf Tournament at Hopkinton Country Club, where he charmed everyone he met. Between collecting cuddles, watching all the activity around him, and taking breaks for puppy naps, he showed us just how adaptable and easygoing he can be. He took all the excitement in stride and was simply happy to be part of the fun. As with any puppy, Colby is looking for a family committed to helping him grow into the wonderful adult dog he's meant to be through positive training, socialization, and lots of adventures together. If you're ready to welcome a puppy into your home and watch him grow, learn, and blossom into a devoted companion, Colby would love to be part of your family.

Meet Jill: Champion Snuggler & Professional Cuddle Bug 💜 If you’re looking for a serious snuggle bug, Jill is your girl! She absolutely lives for affection—whether she’s curled up right next to you on the couch, leaning in for full-body hugs, or rolling over for endless belly rubs. Jill doesn’t just enjoy cuddles… she commits to them. In the home, Jill is a total cuddle bug—house-trained, relaxed, and happiest right by your side. She loves curling up on the couch or basking in a sunny spot, always happiest when she’s close to her people. Calm and easygoing, she’ll thrive in a cozy home where she can soak up all the love. Jill also has a fun, playful side! She enjoys playtime, adores squeaky toys and loves to train and learn new things—especially when treats are involved! She already knows her basics—sit, down, and paw and will be a great partner for someone who wants a dog that’s both affectionate and engaged. Out and about, Jill loves meeting people and greets everyone with her signature smile, wagging tail, and gentle lean-in hugs (belly rubs encouraged!). On leash, Jill can be a bit strong and will benefit from continued guidance. She can also feel overwhelmed in busy neighborhoods, especially when lots of other dogs are around, so she’d likely be happiest in a quieter area where she can feel more at ease. While she has lived with other dogs in the past, she prefers slow introductions and time to build comfort. Because of that, Jill would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can fully relax and shine. She also rides well in the car and is always up for being your copilot! If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will happily be your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your dedicated couch snuggler, Jill is ready to settle in and make herself right at home. 💜 *** Jill's adoption fee has been generously sponsored! Her adoption will also include a post-adoption training scholarship, thanks to the generous support of A&S Pet Care ***

Story
Meet Daddy Long Legs! This 5-year old incredibly docile soul came to us from an owner who is trying to make sure he lands in a perfect quiet spot where he can be his best self. Daddy ‘O was originally part of a massive hoarding case two years ago that spanned MA – NH where 80 boxers were seized and adopted out among several organizations. These boxers had not been socialized or seen the light of day and were very fearful of the outside world. His last owner did everything he could for Daddy! But he lives in a busy urban area and realized that this environment was holding him back from truly relaxing. He made the selfless decision to surrender him to our rescue out of love, and we are thrilled to report he is thriving in a quiet foster home away from the hustle and bustle of city living.  With his looooong skinny legs, Daddy lives up to his name. He is an itty-bitty boxer at only 35 lbs, with the best nubbin tail around! His inky coat with brindle markings is gorgeous. And that underbite? Be still my heart! Like his namesake, everything about Daddy is harmless and innocent, without a single ounce of venom in his personality. He is a homebody and would prefer a predictable and consistent routine in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Another doggie sibling (or more!) is a must, as DLL loves dogs and is learning so much about how to be a dog from his foster siblings. He bounds around the yard like a gazelle, experiencing a newfound joy in being outside that he couldn’t understand for most of his life. Daddy is a pure delight and will shower you with love, smiles, and all that is good in the world. Daddy Long Leg’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who will patiently love him for all of his days, realizing he will never be a brewery dog or adventure companion. 2. A family who lives in a quiet area, is committed to a consistent routine, and can keep Daddy’s world small for the foreseeable future. 3. A family who has a resident dog or dogs to show this little man the ropes and can teach him what is means to be a dog! He is eager to learn and enjoy all that life has to offer!June 11, 2026, 7:38 am

Story
Meet Kane! He is the sweetest boy you will ever meet. Kane is generally a laid-back fellow who loves to lounge around, but when he gets happy, his whole body wiggles—which earned him the nickname "Wiggle Butt." He loves people and gets along beautifully with other dogs. We originally took this sweet boy in to keep him out of a shelter when his previous owner could no longer care for him in their apartment. He absolutely loves his food, head scratches, and belly rubs. Unfortunately, our schedules have become incredibly busy, and we simply can't give Kane the time and attention he needs. Because he is a big boy, his ideal home would have a house with a backyard where he has plenty of room to safely run and play. Kane is wonderful with other dogs and would make a fantastic addition to the right family. He deserves all the love, kisses, and attention in the world, so please only apply if you can give him the amazing life he is so deserving of.

Story
At first sight, you are sure to be smitten with this super sweet bulldog mix. His body is too cute for words! Virgil is about 5-years-old and weighs 53 pounds. He loves to get belly rubs, and show off his butt wiggle. He has been waiting awhile for his person and would love nothing better than to start his new life with you. Virgil has the traits of an American Bulldog, but somehow acts more like a water dog. He has an incredible love for water, especially when he can swim out to retrieve a thrown tennis ball or stick. It’s one game he never tires of. We like to say he’s a natural mer-man ‘wading’ for his forever family! Virgil is rather low maintenance. He is fulfilled by outdoor time, observing nature, and simply being with his people. He also enjoys walks and is good on the leash, though playing in water really makes his day. He has a funny way of turning meal time into fun time by batting around his Rolly Kong for kibble. Although he likes activity, he also has a lovely mellow side and enjoys quiet time. Among his many qualities, he’s also a dapper dude. Would you believe he loves being pampered and brushed? Virgil is very food-motivated and enjoys pleasing you. Since he is wary of strangers, his love of treats comes in very handy when introducing him to new people. If someone new approaches with a treat and lets him make the first move, voila! He’s a happy boy who will sit, lay down, or shake hands with you for more treats. Virgil has a sad background, but with the resilience of a champ he overcame abandonment. As a stray, he landed in a shelter with no ID tag, no microchip, very fearful, and left unclaimed. Because the staff gave him time and tender loving care, he started coming out of his shell. Soon after, Virgil attended a basic obedience class and then transitioned to a foster home where he is learning what a good, safe home is all about. Virgil now has a bouncy puppy-like strut and each day more and more of his personality comes through! He works with his foster mother daily. She reinforces all he learned in training and gives him new challenges as well. Virgil needs an adopter to continue providing direction and confidence-building activities. We know Virgil will thrive in a stable forever home with an experienced person or family who will help him recognize how special he really is. In this type of environment, he is such an easy dog. He just needs time to know things are A-OK so he won’t be fearful and anxious. With your gentle time and patience, you will earn his trust. Fortunately, Virgil provides all the companionship you’ll ever need. He doesn’t do well with other dogs, or cats, but he would be ok with older kids with dog experience. Since he alerts you to noise, he is not good for apartment or condo/townhouse living or tight neighborhoods. Ideal perks are a fenced yard and water access! Please complete an adoption application at https://www.brokentailrescue.org/adopt/ For serious inquiries, email maryloumaria@yahoo.com Thank you! Virgil is being fostered in Gloucester, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Story
Meet Casper: friendly, curious, and absolutely not the ghost type 👻🐾 Casper is an 8-month-old Pitbull mix who weighs about 48 pounds and comes fully loaded with puppy enthusiasm, good looks, and a very active curiosity about absolutely everything. If there’s something new to sniff, investigate, or supervise, Casper would like to volunteer immediately. He’s incredibly friendly and outgoing—the kind of dog who assumes everyone he meets is probably a new friend. Dogs? Love them. Big dogs, small dogs, medium dogs… Casper is happy to hang with them all. He’s a social guy who enjoys canine company and would likely do great with a dog sibling. Casper may also enjoy having a kid around to play with. He’s been great with his foster mom’s kids and clearly enjoys their company—though, like many growing puppies, he hasn’t quite figured out where all 48 pounds of himself are at any given moment. Personal space awareness is still a work in progress, but his intentions are 100% joyful and friendly. Like most young pups, Casper has plenty of energy and a healthy sense of adventure. Toys are exciting to him and he loves to throw them around but he also loves exploring the world and sticking his adorable nose into whatever interesting thing might be happening nearby. Casper is the perfect mix of playful, friendly, and curious, and he’s at that wonderful age where he’s ready to learn, bond, and grow with his forever family. If you’re looking for a happy, social pup who will keep you smiling and happily supervise all your daily activities, Casper is ready to report for duty. 💙🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about Casper, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Casper is being fostered in Barre, MA.
