Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 7-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
I’m looking for a very specific home for my dog, Titan—a 4-year-old boxer/bullmastiff mix (about 65 lbs). Titan is incredibly loyal, affectionate, and forms strong bonds with his person. Once he trusts you, he is calm, loving, and wants to stay close. He does best in a structured environment with clear boundaries and consistency. He is not a dog for everyone. Titan is wary of strangers and needs slow, controlled introductions to new people. He is most comfortable in a low-traffic home without frequent visitors. There was a past incident where he bit a family member’s hand during a high-stress situation when multiple people were around him and he was being handled near his face. The injury required medical attention but was not severe, and there has not been a pattern of repeated incidents. With proper structure and awareness of his boundaries, he has been manageable and stable. Titan would do best in:
• An adult-only home (no children)
• A low-traffic environment
• Someone experience

Story
Meet Owala! 🐾 Owala is a joyful, affectionate girl with a big heart and an even bigger love for her people. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be right next to you—snuggling on the couch, sleeping in bed, or happily following you from room to room. Owala is active and playful, loves to run around outside, and has a blast with squeaky toys, balls, and treat-dispensing puzzles. She’s also a fan of car rides and rides calmly in the back seat, ready to tag along on adventures This sweet girl is house trained and does a great job letting you know when she needs to go out. She’s patient and polite at mealtime, knows how to sit, and is ready to continue learning new tricks. Owala is good with kids and especially loved spending time with her foster’s 8-year-old granddaughter. She’s comfortable being left alone for short periods and typically just curls up for a nap on the couch Owala would be happiest in a home with a fenced yard, as she loves to run and play. She’s looking for an active, loving family who enjoys playtime, companionship, and lots of cuddles. If you’re searching for a sweet, fun, people-oriented dog who will quickly make herself at home—and in your heart—Owala might be your perfect match 💛🐶

*** Jill's adoption fee has been generously sponsored! Her adoption will also include a post-adoption training scholarship, thanks to the generous support of A&S Pet Care *** Jill is a total peach in the home — house-trained, relaxed, and happiest curled up on the couch or stretched out in a sunny spot. She’s calm and easy indoors, soaking up the simple joys of a cozy home. Out and about, Jill loves meeting people and greets everyone with her signature smile, tail wags, and gentle lean-in hugs (belly rubs encouraged!). She rides well in the car, adores squeaky toys, and knows her basics — sit, down, and paw. She’s very treat-motivated and enjoys learning with her people. On leash, Jill can be a bit strong and would benefit from continued practice and guidance. While she has lived with dogs in the past, she prefers slow introductions and time to build comfort. Because of that, Jill would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can truly relax and shine. Jill recently stole hearts on Boston25’s Furever Friday, charming everyone she met with her big personality and even bigger heart. 💜 👉 Watch her segment here: boston25.com/news/local/furever-friday-jill-looking-furever-home If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equally happy exploring the world and lounging in the sun, Jill is ready to settle in and make herself right at home. 💜 *** Jill's adoption fee has been generously sponsored! Story
At first sight, you are sure to be smitten with this super sweet bulldog mix. His body is too cute for words! Virgil is about 5-years-old and weighs 53 pounds. He loves to get belly rubs, and show off his butt wiggle. He has been waiting awhile for his person and would love nothing better than to start his new life with you. Virgil has the traits of an American Bulldog, but somehow acts more like a water dog. He has an incredible love for water, especially when he can swim out to retrieve a thrown tennis ball or stick. It’s one game he never tires of. We like to say he’s a natural mer-man ‘wading’ for his forever family! Virgil is rather low maintenance. He is fulfilled by outdoor time, observing nature, and simply being with his people. He also enjoys walks and is good on the leash, though playing in water really makes his day. He has a funny way of turning meal time into fun time by batting around his Rolly Kong for kibble. Although he likes activity, he also has a lovely mellow side and enjoys quiet time. Among his many qualities, he’s also a dapper dude. Would you believe he loves being pampered and brushed? Virgil is very food-motivated and enjoys pleasing you. Since he is wary of strangers, his love of treats comes in very handy when introducing him to new people. If someone new approaches with a treat and lets him make the first move, voila! He’s a happy boy who will sit, lay down, or shake hands with you for more treats. Virgil has a sad background, but with the resilience of a champ he overcame abandonment. As a stray, he landed in a shelter with no ID tag, no microchip, very fearful, and left unclaimed. Because the staff gave him time and tender loving care, he started coming out of his shell. Soon after, Virgil attended a basic obedience class and then transitioned to a foster home where he is learning what a good, safe home is all about. Virgil now has a bouncy puppy-like strut and each day more and more of his personality comes through! He works with his foster mother daily. She reinforces all he learned in training and gives him new challenges as well. Virgil needs an adopter to continue providing direction and confidence-building activities. We know Virgil will thrive in a stable forever home with an experienced person or family who will help him recognize how special he really is. In this type of environment, he is such an easy dog. He just needs time to know things are A-OK so he won’t be fearful and anxious. With your gentle time and patience, you will earn his trust. Fortunately, Virgil provides all the companionship you’ll ever need. He doesn’t do well with other dogs, or cats, but he would be ok with older kids with dog experience. Since he alerts you to noise, he is not good for apartment or condo/townhouse living or tight neighborhoods. Ideal perks are a fenced yard and water access! Please complete an adoption application at https://www.brokentailrescue.org/adopt/ For serious inquiries, email maryloumaria@yahoo.com Thank you! Virgil is being fostered in Gloucester, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Story
Meet Casper: friendly, curious, and absolutely not the ghost type 👻🐾 Casper is an 8-month-old Pitbull mix who weighs about 48 pounds and comes fully loaded with puppy enthusiasm, good looks, and a very active curiosity about absolutely everything. If there’s something new to sniff, investigate, or supervise, Casper would like to volunteer immediately. He’s incredibly friendly and outgoing—the kind of dog who assumes everyone he meets is probably a new friend. Dogs? Love them. Big dogs, small dogs, medium dogs… Casper is happy to hang with them all. He’s a social guy who enjoys canine company and would likely do great with a dog sibling. Casper may also enjoy having a kid around to play with. He’s been great with his foster mom’s kids and clearly enjoys their company—though, like many growing puppies, he hasn’t quite figured out where all 48 pounds of himself are at any given moment. Personal space awareness is still a work in progress, but his intentions are 100% joyful and friendly. Like most young pups, Casper has plenty of energy and a healthy sense of adventure, but he’s not the over-the-top chaotic type. Right now, toys aren’t nearly as exciting to him as exploring the world and sticking his adorable nose into whatever interesting thing might be happening nearby. Casper is the perfect mix of playful, friendly, and curious, and he’s at that wonderful age where he’s ready to learn, bond, and grow with his forever family. If you’re looking for a happy, social pup who will keep you smiling and happily supervise all your daily activities, Casper is ready to report for duty. 💙🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about Casper, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Casper is being fostered in Barre, MA. Story
Meet Frito, a sweet, loving and sensitive pittie who is looking for a fresh start. Frito can be shy at first and will bark at new people but with time (and some of her favorite treats) she warms up. She will need multiple meets before she feels comfortable enough to start her next chapter. Once she has warmed up Frito loves to be with her people and get all the attention she deserves. She will even jump up and give hugs!Frito is very curious about the world and loves to learn. She loves to go for walks and is extremely food motivated. She will happily show off her sit if it means she’ll get a treat. She has enjoyed puzzle toys and is eager to please. Frito is looking for adopters who will spend time getting to know her gentle soul and can continue to build her confidence throughout her life. She would do best with calm older teens who understand shy dogs and would prefer to be the only dog in the house. If you are interested in adopting this great pup, please come to the shelter with your human family members on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12-4pm. If those times don`t work for you, please email dogs@worcesterarl.org to see if we have other available times for you to meet them.
