Story
June Bug is the happiest, silliest girl with a huge smile that encompasses everyone she meets. June Bug has cerebellar hypoplasia, a congenital condition that basically means part of her brain did not develop fully. It is not painful and will not progress, but it does result in a clumsy gait and sometimes June Bug gets going so fast that she will fall over her own feet. She is able to do everything a normal dog would do, and she loves to chase balls and tug toys. She also wholeheartedly believes that she is a lap dog and will snuggle endlessly with you, but would do best in a single dog household. She is completely unaware of her condition, and her joy at being alive just shines out of her. June Bug was saved from euthanasia at the very last minute because she stole the heart of the rescue coordinator at the high-kill shelter where she ended up several weeks ago, and now she is safe with us but is longing for her family to find her and take her home. June Bug would be a wonderful therapy dog...we would love to find someone who would be interested in showcasing this special soul by taking her to visit special-needs children or adults and showing the world that a little disability is nothing that can't be overcome with a willing spirit and a lot of love! Please complete an adoption application at www.tahoewarf.org or call/text 775-338-6631 for more information on this very special dog.May 7, 2024, 12:38 am

Story
Zora is a spunky young female boxer. She came into rescue from a local shelter, and before that she lived her entire life in a fenced yard with her littermate.Zora is very playful and exuberant, and loves all kinds of toys. But the thing she loves most is being petted and snuggling with her dog brothers and foster humans. She is completely housetrained, rides perfectly in the car, and walks well on leash with no pulling (see below for exceptions). Zora is working on her house manners and crate training but is extremely bright and learns quickly.Because she wasn't exposed to other dogs and new people, she is reactive to both. However, she can be redirected using treats and responds well to praise. Zora would do best with a well-adjusted/socialized male dog. She loves rough housing with the foster family's 80lb American Bully mix, and is fine with their older male Pug (Zora is somewhat more interested in playing with him than he is in playing with her [🙂] ).The foster family doesn't have any cats or smaller pets, but Zora has shown some prey drive when on hikes. This indicated that she may not be ok with smaller pets, birds, or cats. Dog-savvy, respectful children should not be an issue.Boxer experience (specifically female/puppy) highly recommended. Well-adjusted/socialized male dog of similar size required. Zora will require obedience/behavior training to address her reactivity as specified in the adoption contract. If you are interested in meeting or adopting Zora, please fill out an adoption application! We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions. Story
Betty is a complete mess! But she is so special and personable, she is the most beautiful soul - inside as well as out.Betty was scheduled for euthanasia. For no reason other than a skin condition. She was missing 90% of her fur, itchy, covered in wounds and scabs. She is looking and doing better, she is on a hypoallergenic food and sees a doggie dermatologist to see if there is anything else we should or could be doing for her. She loves cuddles and bum scratches and is looking forward to having her own fur back so she no longer has to wear sweaters and coats! We still have a bit to go, but we are enthusiastic that Betty will make a full recovery and a wonderful companion! We require professional obedience training from a certified trainer for ALL adoptions.
