Story
Blooper is VERY social, very curious, and a big ol mush. He has an independent streak and does very well alone, relaxing and snoozing. He ramps things up when the environment is right (dog run). He's definitely got energy to burn and will thrive with a balance of down times and energetic times before bedtime. Despite the trauma he's endured (he came in with significant mange on his hindquarters, was underweight, and very skittish), he is thriving in the big city! His skin condition is already clearing up with better diet & less stress. While on walks, he loves to stop and visit every person, pup, and sniff every scent. He's getting MUCH better at coming to heel and limiting the pulling already; See training activities below! We have met many other dogs on walks and Blooper has done VERY well with every one, including one who barked and tried to nip; he didn't react at all. Due to his very social behavior over the first few days, I decided to go into the deep end and visit the local dog run... and Blooper was a superstar! While on-leash to test things, he was social, curious, and gentle. Even when other dogs moved quickly around him, he kept his cool. Off-leash, Bloops was in heaven! He was super social with every other pup that would give him time and made pit stops with other dog parents. He was an absolute delight and having a blast. He likes chasing balls and tugging toys, but so far distinctly dislikes anything squeaky. He was enjoying a plushy in the living room and accidently hit the squeaker & high-tailed it to the apartment door. He has gotten skittish around fast movements and big flowy things like scarves and overcoats that move erratically. At home, he likes to sleep on his favorite blanket by himself and has been very quiet throughout work-from-home days; He made a few grumbles at some hallway noises but has only barked while lounging on the patio and seeing people and dogs come through the courtyard. He does have a healthy bark, but so far, that's the only time he's expressed it; out of curiosity, never out of anger or intimidation. He sleeps through the night and is nearly fully housebroken. He has not used the weepad I put out and only had one accident inside so far, but with regular morning and after work walks, he's doing fine. While I'm not fully work-from-home, I was able to make mid-day trips to check in and give him a mid-day wee breaks which also help.  He learns very quickly with a clicker and positive reinforcement and will walk for several blocks at a time in busy Brooklyn with a loose-leash and very minimal pulling. I've given him two baths already (to help treat the mange) and the clicker & treats have gotten him to enjoy the experience (it's also probably very soothing with the warm water and massaging). We're using the clicker and treats to reinforce and encourage outside potty time as well, since he's responding so positively to that method. Blooper is wicked smart! ~2 year old male ~35 lbs Loves humans and other dogs Almost completely house broken if kept on a schedule Food and treat motivated Knows "come", responds to the clicker, we're working on "sit" and some other commands/behavior mods Sweet, gentle, and playful Loves chin rubs Saint Rocco's Salmon treats ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Story
We rescued Myla at 6 months old, she had a rough past and her previous owners were not very kind to her. She is now a little over 3 years old, potty trained, crate trained, basic command trained, spayed and up to date with all shots. Myla is high energy, lovable, sweet and affectionate to those she knows close or are recent visitors. She is hight energy, goofy and definitely has a personality that she owns deeply. She loves her chew bones and belly rubs are her favorite. She would thrive in a house with not many visitors, secluded yard where she can run in play, maybe even another dog to keep her company, someone with a routine, not a high trafficked area with people (city is bad) & no children. Myla does better around people she knows, and not so great around people she doesn’t know. She really loves other dogs/going to the dog park. She does great in long car rides and listens well off leash on trails. She never wants to leave your side.

Story
Introducing Oliver … a 2 year old bundle of joy. Oliver gets along well with dogs and he’s a people’s pup through and through. Older kids are cool with him too. Right now he weighs 70-80 pounds but he’s working on gaining some extra pounds to reach a healthy 90-100 pounds. Treats are his ultimate weakness, but due to food allergies he needs a special diet and meds to keep him feeling his best. He is on a quest to find that one special person who will shower him with love, and make him feel like the most important pup in the universe. When he finds them, he’ll sprint towards him with all his might. Oliver is looking to create a loving bond with that lasts forever

If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.April 16, 2024, 5:59 am

Story
Hello! My name is Broccoli, the cutest English Bulldog you will ever meet! I may be 4 years old, but I've got a heart full of love and a nose full of adventure. I may not be the best with young children, but with older kids I can have a blast! I need help with my leash manners, but I'll learn fast if it means more adventures outside. I love my treats, but I also love a fabulous figure, so mine are limited until I can get my summer body back. Cats are a mystery to me, but maybe we could be friends given the right introduction! I have a long wish list in a dog best friend, so it may be hard to find my perfect match. Will you come meet me?
