Story
Name: Ghost Sex: Male, neutered Age: 1.5 years old Weight: 55lbs Dogs: Yes, similar size or bigger Cats: No Kids: Yes, ages 8+ Health: UTD on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped Behavior: Sweet, loves to be near his humans, but not over cuddly. Loves to play, especially with other dogs. Has been working on basic training, very food motivated. Can be a little naughty! Will play Houdini and try to escape, push boundaries, and sneak things that aren’t his. Crate trained, housebroken Backstory: Was found as a stray in December. A previous adopter saved him from the shelter hoping to have him as a member of their family, but one of the resident dogs has not accepted him Facebook Page: NA Location: Thompson, CT If you are interested in adopting Ghost, please fill out an application here: https://www.brbtc.org/adoption-process/ Additional Information from Ghost's foster: Are you looking for a running partner? Maybe a pal to do agility with? A bully to keep you on your toes? If so, Ghost may be the one for you. Ghost is an approximately 1 1/2 year old male bull terrier who weighs around 55 lbs. He came onto our radar back in December when he was picked up as a stray. He went to a local family who has fostered for Blue Ridge for many years with the intent of him being a permanent member of the family. Unfortunately one of the resident dogs, an older and let’s just say somewhat grumpy gal, has no interest in letting him join the family. This is no fault of Ghost’s as he does take warnings from other dogs and gives them space when they have had enough of him. He has done great with the other dogs in the home, who are a bit older than him as well. We feel he would do best in a home with a middle age/medium energy dog of similar size or bigger. He wouldn’t enjoy being with a dog who gets in his face all the time. Now, onto a few interesting facts about Ghost. Ghost is known to be super friendly with any human he has encountered thus far and that is a lot of humans. We know this because Ghost is an escape artist. If given an opportunity, Ghost will take off. His last stunt landed him a ride in the back of a police car to the police station in the next state over. Before being picked up by the police officer, he seemed to have made best friends with every person he ran into. Due to his Houdini-like abilities, he will need a home with a fence that is at least 5 feet tall that does not have any possible security breaches, and where he will always be supervised when in the yard. Below are some things about Ghost and his needs in his own “words”: ⁃ “I NEED continued training for some quirky behaviors and some not so impressive things. I like to scope out counters and tables and if you have food I will most likely try to steal it - you know, puppy stuff! I also have very sensitive hearing and my family doesn’t yet know if I have a high small creature prey drive or the sounds just drive me a little crazy, but I will need more work on that. My mom has been working with me on all of this as well as some basic training, but it will need to continue so that I can be the best boy for you. ⁃ I have a slight obsession with trees, especially the ones with birds and squirrels in them! We are working on this but each new tree I find brings new joys! Again not sure if it is sounds or if I really want to eat the small things. ⁃ I love dogs! Real dogs, fake dogs in people’s yards, and again I am young so I want to play. I am not overly aggressive and quickly learned that the old men here aren’t big players but they tolerate me and I give them space as soon as they show they want it. I would love a doggy sibling who would hang out with me and play. ⁃ I love food more than anything in the world!! My mom says this is great for training purposes but not so great for my little belly! So I have a puzzle bowl that I have to eat out of in order to slow me down and I do not eat near anyone else. My bowl can be taken away without any issues but my older fur siblings are cranky and get mad if I try to steal their food. I also like to steal and try to eat paper and cardboard, my family has hidden all of that from me now! ⁃ I have been working on walking like a gentleman! I have a new harness that seems to be helping but if there is food/treats in your hand I will do whatever you want! I do get easily distracted on walks, but a quick leave it typically gets my attention back on you. ⁃ I will cuddle for a little bit but I am not a super snuggly all over you dog. I like to be in your presence but in my space. Speaking of space, I do love my crate and am happy to go in it when necessary or you aren’t home. ⁃ Lastly, I need a firm owner who is willing to put in the time with me! If you want to allow your dog to do whatever he wants, I am not the dog for you because I will run the show!” Now back to the human speaking. Basically Ghost is a young bull terrier. He needs structure and routine and a human who Ghost views as the leader so he doesn’t push boundaries. He spent the week at someone else’s home and he pushed all the limits to see what he could possibly get away with. This is why we are stressing the importance of having a firm handler. He is very athletic and would most likely thrive in agility. He has done wonderful with the children in the home so we would be okay sending to a home with dog-savvy children who are 8 and older. He is crate trained, neutered and up to date on his vaccines. No cats as he has seemed a bit too interested in the cats in his current home and although we are unsure of how he would really do with them if allowed to fully interact with them, we are not willing to risk the safety of any animal for a placement

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.   JACKSON This cute little guy is part of a litter who was dumped in a remote area of Arkansas. Sadly, one of the siblings was run over by a car before they were rescued, and that puppy did not survive. We are glad to be able to help the remaining puppiesSince there was no mama with them, we don't know what breed they are. If we had to choose a breed, we would guess Boxer mix, but that is strictly a guess. All we know for sure is that they are incredibly adorable and oh so sweet! They are typical, friendly, sweet babies and should adjust well to most any family situation. Jackson and his siblings are about 8-9 weeks at this time, they have had 2 sets of puppy shots and will be spayed/neutered this upcoming week. They will be ready to transport the 1st week of June. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $125-$140 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
