He’s also very treat-motivated and already knows how to sit, which makes continuing his training both easy and fun.Evan can still be a little sensitive to touch at first, but he’s trying so hard—leaning in, learning to trust, and showing more comfort every day. It’s clear he wants affection and is figuring out how to enjoy it at his own pace. He’s done great meeting new people, including a recent introduction to a new volunteer, where he showed just how far he’s come.With a little patience and a lot of love, Evan is going to blossom into an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. He does have a hygroma on his elbow, but it is manageable and is currently being treated. He looks like a blend of Shepherd, Anatolian or Pyrenees, and Great Pyrenees, and carries himself with a gentle, thoughtful presence. At around 50 pounds, he’s a medium-large dog with a calm energy that makes him a steady companion. In the care of a foster home, Santiago has shown that he can settle when given space, patience, and quiet encouragement. He is comfortable in a household with other dogs and doesn’t react to normal activity or people moving around, showing that he can learn to feel safe in a calm, structured environment. Car rides are still a bit overwhelming, and new experiences can be intimidating for him, but with a gentle guide, Santiago is beginning to show curiosity and trust. He is not destructive and adjusts well when left alone in a secure, quiet space.
