|Santiago is a striking dog with a mostly white coat and a unique mix of white, tan, and grey on his face. He looks like a blend of Shepherd, Anatolian or Pyrenees, and Great Pyrenees, and carries himself with a gentle, thoughtful presence. At around 50 pounds, he’s a medium-large dog with a calm energy that makes him a steady companion. In the care of a foster home, Santiago has shown that he can settle when given space, patience, and quiet encouragement. He is comfortable in a household with other dogs and doesn’t react to normal activity or people moving around, showing that he can learn to feel safe in a calm, structured environment. Car rides are still a bit overwhelming, and new experiences can be intimidating for him, but with a gentle guide, Santiago is beginning to show curiosity and trust. He is not destructive and adjusts well when left alone in a secure, quiet space. Santiago is looking for a patient home that can continue to help him gain confidence, offering calm reassurance and gentle guidance. With the right family, he has the potential to blossom into a loving, loyal companion.

Meet Neko 🤍 Sometimes life deals you an unfortunate hand — but I’m pulling through like a champ. I’m Neko, a 3-year-old Mastiff/Akita mix with a gentle soul who loves people, treats, and especially other dogs. If I seem a little anxious in my kennel, it’s only because I LOVE other dogs and love to play — but right now the team here is helping me stay calm so I can finish healing. I’m almost out of the woods after starting treatment for heartworms, and I’ve been doing amazing. I’m bright, happy, eating well, and feeling stronger every day. For just a little while longer, I need a quiet place to rest while my body finishes healing. That means relaxing, short potty walks, and taking the medications the APA team will provide. The good news? I’m potty trained, sweet, and pretty independent. When I’m healthy, I love long walks (2+ miles!) and spending time with my people. I was previously living with a family, and now APA is helping me get the care I need so I can go on to live a long, happy life. If you have a calm home and a little patience while I finish healing, you’ll be helping give me the second chance I deserve.
