Story
Meet Delilah This beautiful kitty has had a tough time. She was originally surrendered when her mama was moved into a nursing home and wasn’t able to take her. It’s hard to leave a beloved pet behind and we promised we’d find Delilah a great home. Unfortunately, we feel like we let her down. Delilah was quickly adopted but after a couple of years was returned to us because she isn't getting along with the other household cat. We're not quite sure what went wrong, but she has settled in very well in our community cat room. This beauty is almost 4 years year old. She’s a calico domestic shorthair. with the mos beautiful, bright marbled markings that are hard to show in pictures. She’s very sweet. She has a wonderful purr and welcomes attention. Delilah is settling in with the kitties and seems to be doing okay. It’s a big adjustment for her, but she has been so brave. If you’re looking for a love bug to welcome to your heart and home please give Delilah a well deserved third chance at happiness. If you can offer a safe home to Delilah, submit an application online https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/cat-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Our shelter is currently closed to the general public as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. However, for approved adopters we are making appointments to meet and adopt your fur baby. Location: 4823 Helen Hwy., Sautee, GA 30571, Phone: 706-865-4135 Email: smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net Our shelter in Sautee GA is located about 3 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in northeast GA.

Story
Meet Tootsie Poor Tootsie has been returned… it was a situation where the other house cat was mean to Tootsie and attacking her mercilessly. The family tried everything (and for quite awhile) to ease the unrest and create a kitty harmony, but it wasn’t happening. Cats new to Tootsie seem to sense how gentle and meek she is and take advantage. Like dogs, kitties also have a pack hierarchy and Tootsie is not a stand her ground kitty or fighter. Tootsie is so sad and depressed to be back at our shelter. She is an absolute love. She loves snuggles and cuddles. She just wants to be with her people and to live serenely. The shelter cats she grew up with are her friends and there were no issues. We think Tootsie would do best as a single kitty or adopted with another of our shelter kitties. Please help us get this beauty home as soon as we can. If you can open your heart and offer a safe home to Tootsie please submit an application online https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/cat-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. Story
Meet Heidi This beautiful calico kitty was recently brought to us because her mama could no longer take care of her. Heidi was quite frightened to find herself in the shelter, but has responded so well to love and caring. She is very playful and feisty, full of confidence! We believe she would do well in a home with another kitty so that she has someone to run and play with. Heidi is quick to come to her humans for a quick scratch, then she’s off to her next game! Heidi is anxious to find her new home, and will definitely keep her family entertained. If you would like to welcome Heidi to your home and can offer her an indoor life, please submit an application at https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/cat-adoption-application/ When your application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. Story
Charlie is an 8 year old mixed breed cat from Greenville Humane Society. She is a very skittish and aloof cat. She loves to hang out in her cat tree and observe what is going on around her. She also loves to sunbathe. When she was adopted, we were told she had lived with both dogs and cats without issue. We have other cats and dogs, but she does not tolerate them well. We were also told she was litter box trained and while she does use the litter box, she also eliminates in multiple places around the house. We have taken her to the vet multiple times and tried different strategies with her litter boxes. With this being said, we think she would do best with an experienced cat owner and most likely as the only pet in a quiet house. Charlie will show affection on her own terms with people she is familiar with. She loves temptations and catnip. We are looking to rehome her to someone who is willing to work with her as we do not think she would do well in a shelter environment.

Story
STOP! You have to read about me. I insist on it. My name is Pickled Ginger. I know that's a weird name but I currently live with some weird humans. I am currently on the hunt for a permanent home. Don't tell my current people but they are not up to my standards. My current wishes are for my own cat tree, cat bed, some kitty treats, a human to call my own, and most importantly a house to rule. I do not mind having other kitties around but I would be okay on my own as well. After all their can only be one ruler of each house. If you have room for a kitty like me please consider me as I am the best option out there. Please apply at www.bossypawsrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $100.00Est DOB: 06/23/23
