Story
Meet Evangeline Evangeline is a gorgeous kitty about 1 1/2 years old. She came to us as a tiny kitten and has struggled to be brave in our kitten room. Just recently she is coming out of her shell and has made it known to us that she's ready to find her forever home! If you are willing to take a chance on a quiet girl, Evangeline will love you forever! She would do best with one of her buddies from our kitten room or a sweet kitty already in the home. If you can offer a safe, indoor environment for Evangeline, please submit an application online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. On our home page, please click "How To Adopt." Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please call our shelter at 706-865-4135. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Athena Athena is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves to be pet and handled, just like her brother Apollo. She's a bit shy at first but quickly warms up when she learns to trust (food and treats are a great motivator). She is learning to play with toys and enjoys the company of other kitties so would do well in a home with another calm kitty (Especially her brother Apollo). Athena might be shy at first but once she is comfortable with her new surroundings she is very loving. She absolutely loves canned food and that will be the key in gaining her trust. She loves looking out of the window, playing ball and playing with toys. We don't even know how to describe her. She's like a white kitty whose tail got dipped in calico colors. Absolutely stunning. But even more beautiful is how, once she learns to trust, she just purrs and snuggles. New adopters will have to approach her slowly at first but once bonded she will be a companion for life. We would love for Athena to go home with her brother Apollo but at this point they can be adopted out separately. She would definitely benefit from another calm kitty in the home. If you can offer a safe indoor home for her (and maybe Apollo), she will love you forever! If looking for an awesome kitty, or two, please submit an application for Athena online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. Story
Meet Callie This stunning kitty recently arrived and her looks pretty much say it all, but her personality is just as beautiful. Callie is a gorgeous marble colored calico with a stubbed half-tail. She just loves everyone. She gets along great with the kitties in our community cat room, and loves to play with toys (especially stuffed mice) and cuddle with her humans. She's super smart and confident. Her foster mom says she knows her name and will come running and her description of her is that she's a "sweet cuddle bug." Callie is a gem and at 4 years old she will fit right into your home. Won't you give her a chance? If you can offer a safe indoor home for Callie, please get your application in on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Once on the website, please select 'How To Adopt' and complete the application. Story
Callie is a delightful calico that showed up at her home summer of 2024. She was thin but playful. We found she was house trained but preferred outdoors. She handled well indoors and was litter trained. She interacted well with our grandchildren ages 5 to 12. She loves a good soft bed or lap and loves to be petted, though not so much picked up and held. I've never seen her around dogs, but know that she is territorial around other cats. She's very playful, and even though she's put on some weight, which is good, she is fast. She loves climbing and prefers to view the world at great heights, though I've never seen her climb a tree! She has received all her shots and receives monthly Revolution. She's up-to-date on her rabies. She has been neutered.

Story
Grace is the sweetest cat. We have had her since she was a kitten, but unfortunately my mother has cat allergies and we are fixing to move in an apartment with my mom so that I can help take care of her so we cant keep grace. She is mostly my husband's cat, but she is very affectionate to both of us. She loves to cuddle and snuggle, and she loves calming treats and or regular treats both. She seems to have food allergies, so the only food her stomach will tolerate is Iams for hairball control or the purina cat. She can rarely eat certain can food do to her digestive system, but her favorite is Mariner catch friskies. We would love for her to have a great home for someone to love her as much as we have. She is litter broken and front declawed. Ideally she needs a home she can roam free and have hiding places because she likes to hide.
