Story
Meet Velma Velma and her almost identical twin sister Daphne are the two newest little additions to the kitten room. They are brown tabbies and we have FINALLY found a way to tell them apart: Daphne has two distinct stripes on her face while Velma only has one. Just like their namesakes in Scooby Doo, these girls are smart, funny, and full of adventure. They love to play and snuggle with the other kitties in the room, but as soon as they see a willing lap, they are all in. Even if they have to lay on top of another kitty to get close to their human. Anyone who adopts one or both of these amazing girls is in for an adventure. They are only about 3 1/2 months now (DOB estimated at 11/30/2025) so are available for our foster to adopt program where they can be fostered until they are old enough to be spayed. Velma (and Daphne) would probably do best going home with another kitty in the home, but a devoted human companion will suit her just fine. If looking for an awesome kitty who will be your companion for life, Velma (or Daphne) might just be for you. Please fill out an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. On the home page, select "Download Cat Application." Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. Please email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Meet Penny Penny is a gorgeous, petite tabby with just a touch of orange on her forehead. Penny was born May 2025 and is ready to find her forever home Penny is one of nine kittens raised by our sweet Precious and she's an absolute love. Penny has always been a very sweet, calm kitten and would be great in a home with another kitty. She loves to play with her buddies then curl up in a purr pile. We would love for Penny to go home with one of her siblings, or into a home with a sweet, loving kitty. If you're looking for an adorable little snuggle buddy, Penny (and maybe her brothers Pepper, Ivan or Garth) might just be the one for you. Story
Meet Butterscotch. Butterscotch came to us as a tiny kitten over a year ago, and is still trying to find his home. Some of his siblings were very social and quickly were adopted, but Butterscotch was just so shy for some reason. He is an orange ginger cat who is just so sweet! He's a little on the quiet side and welcomes a gentle approach but we've seen great improvement in his confidence since we moved him to the cat room. He will allow our volunteers to pet and love on him. He enjoys laser light and running on the exercise wheel. He has quickly connected with our Lion King cats (Simba, Mufasa, and Zazu). Like so many of our quieter cats, we are sure Butterscotch will thrive once he's in his forever home. If you can offer a safe indoor home for Butterscotch, and maybe one of his buddies, please submit an application on the homepage of this website www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org under the tab "How To Adopt."
