Name:  Nala MayBreed: Diluted CalicoDOB: 7/7/2024Good with kids: YESGood with dogs: YESGood with cats: YESFoster location: Roscoe, IL Adoption fee: $50 Special! Fun Bio: If interested in a pet from us please fill out the adoption application that is located on our website.  We process applications in the order in which they are received.   We always recommend playtime, positive reinforcement training and a regular schedule for feeding times when bringing a new cat/kitten into your home. Adjustment takes time for both you and your new family member, so remember to be patient and enjoy this new and exciting time! Included in the adoption fee are age appropriate vaccinations, FeLV/FIV testing (done at 26 weeks), deworming, spay or neuter surgery, and microchip. Anti-Declawing Policy: All cats and kittens will have a no declaw policy in their adoption contract with us!   Declawing is a series of bone amputations.  Declawing is more accurately described by the term de-knuckling and is not merely the removal of the claws, as the term “declawing” implies.  In humans, fingernails grow from the skin, but in animals that hunt prey, the claws grow from the bone; therefore, the last bone is amputated so the claw cannot re-grow.  Declawing is one of the most painful, routinely performed procedures in all of veterinary medicine.  Each toe of the cat is amputated at the first joint.  Declawing a cat is equivalent in a person to amputating the entire first knuckle of every finger.  Declawing is done strictly for the benefit of the owner.  There are NO benefits to the cat and NO good reasons to declaw. Declawing can lead to behavior changes.  A declawed cat has no way to defend itself and may resort to biting more often.  Due to pain, they may stop using the litter box.  There are humane alternatives to declawing.  Cats can be trained to use scratching posts.  They should have their nails trimmed regularly.  There is double sided sticky tape that can be put on furniture to deter a cat from scratching there.  There are also nail caps called Soft Paws that are glued onto a cat's nail without harm.   ##2453888##

Story
Born: April 11, 2024 Adoption Donation: $200 Meet Friday – A Gentle Soul Looking for Love Friday is a beautiful calico cutie with a quiet, gentle nature. Coming from a hoarding situation, she’s still learning to trust people, but one thing is for sure—she absolutely loves other cats! Having feline friends gives her confidence, and she would thrive in a home with a social, friendly kitty to show her the ropes. Though she’s very shy, Friday has a sweet heart and just needs a patient adopter who will give her the time and space to feel safe. If you have a calm home and a kind heart (and maybe a kitty friend waiting), Friday might be the perfect addition to your family. Are you the one to give this shy girl the love and security she deserves? All cats are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, and FeLV/FIV tested at the time of adoption. An application is required to view our adoptable pets. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of your appointment (unless your dog has had prior exposure to cats).  A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals. We look forward to seeing you soon! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you're working for home or just playing it safe by practicing social distancing, now is a perfect time to bring a new furry family member into the fold. Email us any questions about any cats we have and we will be happy to provide any additional information you may need. If you are approved for adoption, we are now doing curbside adoptions in order to minimize contact. Calypso is about 1 year old as of May 2025. She has spent a large portion of that time in confinement. That is not our usual protocol, but we were losing ground on her socialization when she came out of confinement. She was trapped as an older kitten with the intent to be socialized for adoption. Due to a series of unfortunate incidents, the window to return her back to her outside home closed, so we decided to continue efforts to socialize. Recently she has gained ground, and starts purring within a few minutes of being pet. She leans in for chin scratches, and starts to relax. She's nowhere near ready to be picked up, but she never tries the bite or scratch when pushed. She just wants to get away to her corner. We feel with time, and a small space with easily accessible spaces (no beds she can hide under) she will come around. It won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile is! She adores other cats, and a super friendly cat would likely help her get acclimated even more quickly. Apply for this beautiful girl now at safehousepets.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.All of our cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV. Our adoption fee structure is as follows:   $75 - Kittens/Young (Up to 1 year) $50 - Adult (1 Year +) $25 - Senior (7 Years +) $0 - FIV + There is an additional $25 fee for cats considered to be an "Exotic" (Siamese, Persian, etc...) If you are a senior (65 years or older) you can adopt any of our senior cats (7 years or older) for only $10! Please mention this special when applying. We also have a kitten special - adopt 2 available kittens (1 year & under) for $125 While we try to keep our animal listings up-to-date online, sometimes the age range may be labelled incorrectly. Please don't hesitate to contact us for the most up-to-date information on a particular cat.  Our cats are shown by appointment - we are a foster based rescue and so we don't have a location with set hours. If you are interested in adopting or would like to meet our cats, please fill out our adoption application online at www.safehousepets.org/info/adoption and a volunteer will contact you promptly.  July 5, 2025, 12:40 pm
