Story
Born: April 11, 2024 Adoption Donation: $200 Meet Friday – A Gentle Soul Looking for Love Friday is a beautiful calico cutie with a quiet, gentle nature. Coming from a hoarding situation, she’s still learning to trust people, but one thing is for sure—she absolutely loves other cats! Having feline friends gives her confidence, and she would thrive in a home with a social, friendly kitty to show her the ropes. Though she’s very shy, Friday has a sweet heart and just needs a patient adopter who will give her the time and space to feel safe. If you have a calm home and a kind heart (and maybe a kitty friend waiting), Friday might be the perfect addition to your family. Are you the one to give this shy girl the love and security she deserves? All cats are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, and FeLV/FIV tested at the time of adoption. An application is required to view our adoptable pets. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of your appointment (unless your dog has had prior exposure to cats).  A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals. We look forward to seeing you soon! Name: AyaBreed: Calico/DSHDOB: 4/13/2025Good with kids: YESGood with dogs: YESGood with cats: YESFoster location:  Rockford, IL Adoption fee: $200 a kitten or $350 for a pair of kittens under 2 years of age. Fun Bio: If interested in a pet from us please fill out the adoption application that is located on our website.  We process applications in the order in which they are received.   We always recommend playtime, positive reinforcement training and a regular schedule for feeding times when bringing a new cat/kitten into your home. Adjustment takes time for both you and your new family member, so remember to be patient and enjoy this new and exciting time! Included in the adoption fee are age appropriate vaccinations, FeLV/FIV testing (done at 26 weeks), deworming, spay or neuter surgery, and microchip. Anti-Declawing Policy: All cats and kittens will have a no declaw policy in their adoption contract with us!   Declawing is a series of bone amputations.  Declawing is more accurately described by the term de-knuckling and is not merely the removal of the claws, as the term “declawing” implies.  In humans, fingernails grow from the skin, but in animals that hunt prey, the claws grow from the bone; therefore, the last bone is amputated so the claw cannot re-grow.  Declawing is one of the most painful, routinely performed procedures in all of veterinary medicine.  Each toe of the cat is amputated at the first joint.  Declawing a cat is equivalent in a person to amputating the entire first knuckle of every finger.  Declawing is done strictly for the benefit of the owner.  There are NO benefits to the cat and NO good reasons to declaw. Declawing can lead to behavior changes.  A declawed cat has no way to defend itself and may resort to biting more often.  Due to pain, they may stop using the litter box.  There are humane alternatives to declawing.  Cats can be trained to use scratching posts.  They should have their nails trimmed regularly.  There is double sided sticky tape that can be put on furniture to deter a cat from scratching there.  There are also nail caps called Soft Paws that are glued onto a cat's nail without harm.   ##2383680##

Story
Peanut Butter is a gorgeous calico cat who came to us from another shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. She is happier in the cat room at our vet's office, but she would be even happier in your home with less noise and activity. She is a sweetheart who loves attention. She's had a bit of a stressful life – losing the only home she ever knew - and she definitely stress eats (sound familiar to anyone?), so she could use a bit of a diet.  While she tolerates the other cats in the cat room, she tends to spend most of her time comfortable in the safe surrounds of her cat condo with a food bowl nearby. She doesn't have any interest in playing with the other cats, and if they get too close to "her" food bowl, she may swat at them to warn them away, but she does not go after them. Because of that, she is best as the only cat in a household or in a house with a laid back, older cat who is used to other cats already.  Peanut Butter is available for adoption at our vet's office where she is housed in the cat room there. Glow is up to date with routine shots, litter box trained, altered and micro chipped. For more information, please call or text 630-207-1238

Story
Meet Mango – A Blind Beauty with a Heart Full of Joy Don't let her blindness fool you—Mango sees the world with her heart, and it's a beautiful place! This plush-coated, purring sweetheart is a massively courageous bundle of joy. Born with microphthalmia (meaning her eyes are either missing or too small to function), Mango doesn’t just get by—she thrives. She’s adventurous, playful, affectionate, and endlessly endearing. From the moment you pick her up, Mango purrs instantly, soaking in all the love like a pro snuggler-in-training. She adores people and other cats, loves curling up with her foster family for naps, and when she's not cuddled up, she’s hopping, rolling, and pouncing her way through life like a tiny four-pawed superhero. Watching her wrestle is like watching a kitten on a mission—determined and full of spark! Mango is thriving in her foster home, where she's memorized the layout with ease—she knows exactly where the food, water, and litter box are, and can navigate her world confidently. She loves sparkly fuzzy balls, stuffed mice, and playing with her kitten foster brother. Her soft mews and excited hops will melt your heart every time. Since she’s still young, Mango needs to be adopted into a home with another kitty friend to socialize with, and she’d absolutely love to go home with one of her siblings. She’s wonderfully social and has met many adult cats and people, and would do well with older, gentle, and respectful children who can understand her unique needs. Her blindness requires a bit of extra care: just a gentle eye wipe and saline drops once or twice a day—no surgeries or other treatments are needed at this time. What she really needs is a home with kindness, consistency, and someone who believes, like she does, that life is full of possibilities. Mango is not just a kitten—she’s an inspiration. A soft, silly, cuddly, zooming little reminder that with love, anything is possible. Are you ready to see the world through Mango’s eyes? Apply to meet Mango today so you can see how special she is! WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL LOCATION AS WE ARE A FOSTER-BASED ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO BE IMMEDIATELY CONNECTED TO A SCREENER.
