Story
This is Cinder, a young calico I found as a kitten under a friend's house. She's a very sweet cat but has had some trouble adjusting. She doesn't let people touch her and shows clear anxiety when me or another human is near but she gets along fine with my other cat. I've wanted to take her to the vet to see if some anxiety meds would help, but I'm very low-income.The only time she has been remotely hostile is when we had to move apartments and I had to get her in a carrier. I am moving again soon but this time much further. I am worried about the logistics of moving her so far when she is already having such a hard time. I worry her lashing out at the other cat if they are both in one carrier and having us dangerously cramped in the front seat with 2. I think she is a good cat. I think she just needs someone who can spend the time and care with her she needs. Or at the very least someone sticking in one spot for a while.

Story
Eloise has always been more than just a pet. She has been part of our family’s heart. She came to us during a time of loss, given to my son after his father passed away. She brought him comfort, companionship, and so much love when he needed it most. In 2022, Eloise ran away, and after years of hoping, she was finally found and returned to us in October 2025. We were overjoyed to have her home. However, during her time away, Eloise changed. While she is still a sweet and loving cat with people, she no longer does well with other animals and does not get along with our other cats. Because of this, we are making the very difficult decision to rehome her. Eloise would do best in a quiet home with no other pets, where she can feel safe and relaxed. We love her deeply and want her to have the peaceful life she deserves.

Story
Hi, I’m Josephine.A true New Orleans lady, born with a little extra charm and a whole lot of soul. I like to imagine I come from a long line of strong, graceful women and I carry that same elegance… just with a bit more fur and a love for cozy naps.I’ve got a warm orange-and-brown tabby coat that feels right at home in the golden glow of a late afternoon, and a personality that’s as rich and comforting as a slow Sunday in the Quarter. I’m sweet, gentle, and I know how to enjoy the quiet moments—whether that’s sitting by your side or softly asking for a little love and attention.I’m not one for chaos—I prefer a calm, loving home where I can settle in, be adored, and return that love tenfold. Think of me as your steady companion, your little piece of New Orleans magic, always there with a soft presence and a kind heart. So come on, cher… let me be your Josephine!________________________________________________If you would like to meet one of our adoptables or learn more about them, please submit an application at https://animalrescueneworleans.org/adoptfoster/.**Note: Our shelter is open by scheduled appointment only after your application is approved. Story
Beautiful Callie, A Chill Mellow Cat Contact: dcmcats@yahoo.com Callie is a beautiful tortoiseshell cat who showed up and had 3 kittens before she could be spayed. She is a sweet low key girl who likes to chill out and spend her days cuddling in her various cat beds cuddling her stuffed animal toys-her favorite being lamb chop! She does not like to be alone. Callie loves being inside having people and soft beds and plenty to eat. She is fluffy with medium length fur and is very soft. She very much enjoys hanging out with people and being pet and sitting next to her humans, but not sitting on your lap and is not too fond with getting picked up. But Callie is happy to be brushed and pet all day long! She is ok with other mellow cats but doesn’t seek out other kitties. She will play occasionally play with wand toys but really prefers to chill with you. She will watch what you do and is a quiet kitty. Callie would be a great choice for someone as a companion cat for someone or a couple who have a quiet home and like to chill out or for an older person who prefers relaxing to partying. She is a beautiful and healthy cat! Callie had a full blood panel done and is fully vaccinated and tested negative for both Feluk and FIF. She had some surgery on her for an injury when she was rescued but it has healed completely. Please send an email to dcmcats@yahoo.com for an application and include a little about yourself and your household, and what your typical daily and weekend schedule is like, so we can help you decide if Callie is your perfect cat!

Story
Hi there, I’m Pursey!I’m a beautiful little lady dressed in white, orange, and black — basically nature’s way of giving me the perfect outfit. But the real showstoppers? My gorgeous orange-gold eyes. People always notice them right away, and I can’t blame them… they’re pretty magical if I do say so myself.I have a sweet, gentle spirit and a quiet kind of charm. I love spending time with my people, soaking up attention, and looking up at you with those bright eyes that seem to say, “Hi… I’m so glad you’re here.” I’m the kind of cat who makes a house feel warm just by being in it.Whether I’m lounging nearby, keeping you company, or simply gazing at you with my glowing eyes, I promise to bring a little extra beauty and love into your life every single day.I’m Pursey, and I can’t wait to find the person who will look into my golden eyes and know we’re meant to be.________________________________________________If you would like to meet one of our adoptables or learn more about them, please submit an application at https://animalrescueneworleans.org/adoptfoster/.**Note: Our shelter is open by scheduled appointment only after your application is approved.
