Story
Very sweet kitty, independent but loves to be pet but doesn't love to be picked up and carried. We are so sad to have to rehome but cannot keep her due to more severe allergy reactions in members of our household than we had hoped. She does great with dogs, has not been around other cats, so unknown on that. She will be 1 in November and unspayed.

Story
I picked up Fern off a farm in Allendale 6 years ago, along with her sister Ivy. My goal was to give cats a nice, comfortable home to live in as I grew up on a farm myself and saw a lot of outdoor cats get sick and live out in the cold. Fast forward to now and we have a toddler and a business and our cats have been sidelined. We’d love to see them both go to a home together where they can play and relax under some more attention!

Story
Meet Mew! When Mew first came to us as a stray, we were concerned with her condition. She came in with infected eyes and wounds over her face (see photo). After she got some love, care, and medications, she improved in just a few days!  Mew does need a special home. She tested positive for FIV which stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. This means she will have a weakened immune system which can lead her to be more prone to infections. Despite this, she can still live a full and happy life! FIV is transmitted to other cats via bite wounds. While we do not think Mew would bite another cat, this isn't something we can control and we want to keep everyone protected. Therefore, we will not adopt her out to a home that has cats in the home *unless* if they are also FIV positive. She can go to a home with dogs as FIV cannot be transmitted to dogs.  Mew is positive for roundworms which is common in kittens. She is undergoing dewormer treatment. Roundworms can be transmitted to other animals and to people (rarely) via ingesting the contaminated feces. We recommend keeping her litter box clean and her paws clean after using the litter box until there is a negative fecal test. We believe Mew is about 8 weeks old. She is beautiful, sweet and full of spunk! The $125.00 adoption fee ( payable by cash or check only ) includes: spay/neuter; vaccinations; microchip; fecal testing w/ giardia, flea prevention, and FIV/FeLV testing.  Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Cats for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application.  Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption. Story
Gigi spends her day exactly how she wants to. She loves having a routine and will let you know if you are late for feedings by meowing, bumping into your legs, swatting the air near you, or simply giving you her stare of death. She does not like to be picked up and will let you know by loudly yelling, this will likely not change. She enjoys sleeping in her bed, but that is HER space. She does not want pets while she is sleeping and cozy. She will occasionally snuggle in a pile under blankets. She also does not want to be pet while she is there. She enjoys to self-play with sparkly pompom balls but does not want to engage in play with you, these are her toys, not yours. Despite not wanting a lot of things, she actually does really love pets and snuggling. But strictly on her terms. Most of the time if you go in her room and sit down, she insists on sitting in your lap. Do not be fooled, this is not an invitation for a hug, you are simply furniture. While she is in your lap she will purr and make biscuits and you CAN pet her here. But don't get too crazy because she may bite you. (It's really just a nibble.) Gigi does not enjoy fast movements, loud noises, or cat carriers. Although, her office mate has been doing really good work on desensitization to carriers and she will go in for a treat! Gigi has a lot of trust issues, but once you earn her trust, it is magical. Gigi's officemate has also been working on her tolerance to children by sacrificing her own child. We have found that if the child is quiet and respectful of Gigi's boundaries, she actually seems to enjoy them! Said child has helped with feeding her and will go in for visits and has been awarded the badge of "Gigi snuggler". Gigi is an amazing cat, but she has been through a lot. If you're looking to adopt a lovable grump, she is the lady for you! Gigi's adoption fee has been sponsored by BathWorks of Michigan!

Story
Meet Shadow, an 8-year-old brown tabby who has a sweet and affectionate side! Shadow enjoys exploring her room and is often happy to come over and greet visitors with gentle head bumps. She loves attention, purrs, and making biscuits, and she’s always interested when a tasty treat is involved. Shadow can become overstimulated easily, especially with petting and physical touch. We’re not sure yet if this is something she experiences outside of the shelter or if the shelter environment is contributing to it, so her future family will want to pay close attention to her body language and keep petting sessions short. She’ll also benefit from specialized enrichment that gives her other ways to engage and have fun without relying on physical touch. Shadow may prefer being the only cat in the home, but she has previously done well with children of various ages and could potentially join a family with kids again. We don’t have any history of her living with dogs, so slow and thoughtful introductions would be recommended if she joins a home with canine companions. Shadow has plenty of love to give, and she’s looking for someone who will take the time to understand her signals, respect her boundaries, and appreciate all the sweet moments she has to offer.

Story
LeBron is one half of a bonded pair of the two sweetest brothers you could ever find. These beautiful boys look like twins but they have different birth dates within 5 days of each other. LeBron was born on 8/30/2025 and Jordan was born on 8/25/2025. It was meant to be that they would be together and these two bonded brothers must be adopted together. Perhaps you can guess why they received their names. At 10 months old, they are both loving, playful youngsters with lots of joy to share. They have the best characteristics you could ask for in a bonded pair. They will happily sit on your lap and cuddle with you but they also enjoy playing especially catnip toys, balls, and toys on strings. In pictures, it’s hard to tell these sweet boys apart since they look so much alike but in person you can see their distinct features. LeBron has the more triangular face with yellow eyes and a bigger white patch on his chest. Jordan has a rounder face with round green eyes and a smaller white patch. Both cats love everyone and they are fine with being picked up even by kids. We don’t know how they are with other animals as they have only lived with each other but with proper introductions, it may be just fine. LeBron is a little bit more of a greeter than his brother. He is very social and he talks when he wants your attention and purrs a lot. He is super sweet and always wants to be with you and he would lay and nap on your chest all day. He will be sure to let you know when he wants attention and when it’s time to play with him. These bonded brothers will go to their new home with all the supplies you need for a great start. Ask us about them today!
