To give her the chance at a better future, she was safely trapped and brought into foster care, where she has been learning that people bring food, comfort, and love instead of fear. She has come a long way, but she's still a little shy and will need a family that understands she may take some time to fully trust her new surroundings. Mars is a very sweet, cuddly, and a curious girl. How can you not fall in love with her at first glance? She may be shy at first, yet she becomes a fun, lovable companion after she acclimates. She was found as a stray outside our home looking for water and food at around 4-5 weeks old. Mars is fully vaccinated and healthy. She is looking for a home with no other cats as she is cryptic negative for FeLV. This means she has tested slightly positive for FeLV on a Elisa snap test, but negative on a following PCR test, and we are not 100% sure she will abort the virus. This is why we are requesting a single cat home. We have another older kitten in our home that is negative for FeLV, and we cannot keep them separated over time. We want to ensure that she finds a wonderful home with someone who can spend more time with her and give her the love she deserves.

Teresa is a gentle 7-year-old cat whose world changed when her owner developed dementia and was no longer able to care for her. Having spent her life as an only pet, Teresa is understandably overwhelmed by this sudden transition and needs time to feel safe again. She is very shy at first and may lash out when she feels insecure, but this behavior comes from fear—not from a lack of sweetness. Teresa will need a patient adopter who can give her the 2–3 weeks (or more) she needs to decompress and adjust to her new surroundings. A quiet, predictable home without children is ideal, where she won’t feel overwhelmed by noise or activity. While she was previously an only cat, she seems to tolerate other calm cats if given proper introductions and space. With time, consistency, and gentle care, Teresa has the potential to form a strong bond with her new person. Now that her little ones are growing up, it’s finally Calista’s turn to find a loving home of her own. Calista is a pretty chill and easy-going girl who enjoys the simple things in life soft pets, being held, and the occasional play session with her favorite toys. She has a calm presence and would make a lovely companion for someone looking for a sweet, affectionate cat. Since having her babies, Calista hasn’t been too interested in other cats. That said, once she’s separated from her kittens and given time to adjust, she may do just fine with another cat with a slow, proper introduction. After everything she’s done for her babies, Calista deserves a cozy home where she can relax, be loved, and finally be someone’s baby too. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion with a heart of gold, Calista might be the perfect match for you. PLEASE READ THIS TO ADOPT: ***ALL ANIMALS ARE CURRENTLY IN LONG BEACH, MISSISSIPPI.*** We transport adopted animals every 2-3 weeks to Northeast states.  Completed applications take precedence over inquiries. If you are interested in adopting, the FIRST step is to complete an application. We will discuss additional details with potential adopters once we have an application on file.  For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. We are located in an overpopulated area surrounded by high-kill shelters. Adoption fees include transport, vetting and a MS Health Certificate to travel.
