We post our available pets across the east coast and Canada and welcome applications from anywhere on the understanding that approved families must be prepared to travel to the rescue in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Why We Will Be Actively Looking to Adopt Kittens in Pairs We will be actively looking to place kittens in pairs whenever possible, as animal behavior experts and feline welfare organizations consistently recognize that kittens develop better socially, emotionally, and behaviorally when they grow up with a feline companion of a similar age. Benefits of adopting two kittens together: Built-in playmate: Kittens have endless energy. A companion provides a healthy outlet for wrestling, chasing, and play, helping to redirect natural hunting instincts and play aggression away from people, furniture, and household items. Teaches bite inhibition and boundaries: Through play and wrestling, kittens learn how to control the force of their bites and scratches. When one kitten plays too rough, the other responds immediately, teaching important social limits that humans cannot easily replicate. Faster learning and social development: Kittens learn by watching each other. They often develop appropriate grooming habits, litter box skills, confidence, and social behaviors more quickly when raised with a companion. Reduces loneliness and stress: Kittens thrive on interaction and stimulation.
