Story
My cats name is Harley. She is approximately 13 years old. She does not like children she hisses at them, but usually just runs away and hides. She likes to sit with you on the couch. She is healthy. She is a calico and has a calico personality. I am torn about giving her up for adoption. But I am retired now and doing a lot of traveling. I think Harley would be happier with a person who actually likes cats better than I do. I was given her when I moved into my home my friend thought I would need a companion. It’s been good so far, but it’s time she is in a better home.

Story
Meet Sushi (black & white) and Tula (tabby) – our lovely velvety coated sisters. Born outside and semi-feral, these girls are now loving the comforts of the indoors and the attention of their humans. Although they will initially be shy, once settled you will be delighted by their playful and loving natures. Tula readily comes to her foster mom when called by name while Sushi likes to give a little hiss before purring up a storm for pets. The girls have been integrated into their foster home and do well with the resident cats. They enjoy wands, spring toys, balls, cat trees and window watching. They are about six months old and have always been together. They deserve to stay that way. Tula and Sushi are better suited to older children and adults. They are untested with dogs. Tula & Sushi have been spayed, vaccinated & microchipped. Tula tested negative for FIV/FELV. Sushi has tested positive for FIV and negative for FELV. We know so much more about FIV now. FIV is a feline only, slow-acting virus that compromises a cat's immune system over a long period of time. Cats can live long healthy indoor lives with FIV. FIV cannot be transmitted to people or other animal species and it is not easily passed to other cats. FIV is passed between cats through a deep bite – deep enough to inject saliva into the bloodstream of the other cat. You see these types of bites with males fighting for territory outdoors. FIV is NOT passed between cats through shared food bowls, shared litter boxes or through playing, wrestling or licking/cleaning each other. Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine conducted a long-term study in cat shelters and found that FIV-positive cats can live with FIV-negative cats and not infect the FIV-negative cats during normal day-to-day interaction. Studies over the last 10 years have also shown that cats with FIV often live as long as otherwise healthy cats that do not have this virus. We have included links to information on FIV below. Story
Meet Simba & Tigger! These sweet gentle boys are now about 2.5 years old. They were rescued from the streets scrounging for food. Tigger is a social, well-adjusted cat but Simba is still very shy and looks to his brother for confidence. From their foster mom – “Tigger loves his snuggles. Simba is getting there slowly. He will now sleep with us on the bed. He comes out when people are over which is a big step!” They have come a long way from their days on the street. Simba & Tigger would do best in an experienced home with the patience to give them some time to adjust. They are on a veterinary grade diet for their dry food (Hill’s Urinary CD Stress) and Fancy Feast for their wet. Simba had blood in his urine when we brought him in. The likely diagnosis is Feline Idiopathic Cystitis due to stress as there was nothing found in urinary tests (no crystals/no infection). The CD Stress diet cleared it up and he should remain on this diet for the rest of his life. We are happy to supply 3 months of the dry food to get you started. Veterinary diets are better quality but more expensive than pet store brands. These two boys so deserve a loving forever home. If you have room in your heart & your home for Simba & Tigger, please contact us here, email heartstohomesfelines@gmail.com or fill out an application at www.heartstohomes.ca. They have been neutered, vaccinated microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FELV.

Story
Meet Cleo! This beautiful Torbie is about 2 years old. Cleo was found on the street begging for food in the middle of winter. Cleo is very shy but has come a long way from when she was first rescued! Cleo loves attention from her foster family but is still skittish. She avoids the other cat & the dog in her foster home. She would do best in a calmer home with the patience and time to work with her to build trust. It is so rewarding when that shy cat starts coming for pets and snuggles. Cleo has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FELV.
