Initially thought to have been hit by a car, Cecil is battling severe malnourishment, demodex mange, and is heartworm positive. Despite his heartbreaking condition, shelter staff have been amazed by his gentle nature and the affection he shows towards them. Cecil's journey has been a tough one, but his spirit shines through in his willingness to connect with those caring for him. He is in desperate need of immediate foster care to provide him with the love, nourishment, and comprehensive medical attention he requires to heal and thrive once again. Please meet Melman fka Koko! A8407642.5 year old neutered male, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. This sweet gentle giant is looking for his next foster or foster to adopt home. Named after the goofy, lengthy, wobbly giraffe, Melman is a big boy who is recovering from two hip surgeries. While he is a little wobbly, he gets around just fine on his own and needs a place to continue rehabilitation, gain weight, and strength. Melman takes pain medications and joint supplements nicely and is very food motivated! Melman is a very big Velcro dog who wants to be his humans’s very best friend, a good snuggle and pets on the couch is his idea of the best day ever. Melman has done well in the foster home with both dogs and cats. He does not mind cats at all and would be a very good addition to a home with feline friends! Melman can live with other dogs, but would strive in a home with calm, submissive dogs or where he can have at least one human who can give him the spotlight and all the love. Melman walks well on a leash, has been friendly with all humans, has previously done well with children but we would recommend older children who can respect his recovery. He is house trained. He still needs some work on crate training. Melman has weekly physical therapy and occasional vet visits that at this time are still covered by PACC, along with his current medications. Melman does not do well in the shelter so we would love to get him into his next home by Christmas to avoid going back. He’s friendly, food motivated, knows sit and paw and LOVES attention and pets. His volunteer friends sing his praises, saying the following:“Oh my goodness, ?Dude!! ?He is the perfect boy! He is super friendly and easy ?t?o leash up. He is a little jumping bean ?when walking ?from his kennel to ?a play yard. Once in the yard he is a wiggly?, affectionate?,amazing boy! He wriggles his entire body as he gets up close to you in order to get into the best position for kisses! He stood rightnexttome so that I could pet his entire body! His tail doesn`t stop wagging the entire time he`s in a yard with a volunteer friend. He is playful and easygoing with his kennelmate and overall is just an amazing boy!?”“Dude was very easy to leash and was a great walker today. He wanted to sniff everything on the walk and in the yard. He is super sweet and absolutely loves getting pets.”Dude shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been social and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit (we do know that he previously lived with multiple other dogs). If you’re looking to bring home a dog to make all your friends say “Dude, this dog is fire!!” or if you’re asking yourself “Dude, where’s my dog?”, look no further than Dude!!
