Story
Hi lovely Canadians. My name is DEDI and here is a little info about me:Breed: Labrador Retriever/Cane Corso mixAge: 4 years (almost 5)Gender: femaleWeight: 38 kg/84lbsCountry of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlight(s): eager to please/learn, easy to train, intelligent, curious, faitful, affectionate, entertaining
I’m a truly amazing dog, known for my striking, human-like eyes and a deep loyalty that runs straight to my core.
A critical message: Due to instability for rescue teams, I have an urgent need to reach a safe, forever home as soon as possible. Please do not delay my rescue mission!
I have known trauma. I was abandoned on the street by a former owner who couldn't sell the pups, followed by months surviving in a neighborhood where some were kind, but others were cruel (electric shocks, sticks, and threats).Thankfully, a kind rescuer stepped in and moved me to a paid, safe shelter (June 2024). Though conditions aren't great, I am fed and finally safe from harm!My rescuer visits several times a week for attention and walks.Proving my loving nature during those difficult street days meant caring for my own puppies and even taking in other abandoned pups! I am the nurturing type, a devotion that naturally comes with bright eyes, cuddles, and affection.I am truly a calm dog at heart. The current overly excited behavior on walks is purely due to confinement, who wouldn't go a bit crazy within four walls?Once in a home with regular walks, attention, and playtime, the chilled self will return.Being incredibly intelligent, I am quick to learn and eager to please, making training an easy process. Of course, like many clever dogs, a little stubbornness crops up at times, but overall, obedience is strong.Humans are truly my thing! I love them all, big ones, little ones, spending hours playing with neighbor children proves it.I am also friendly with other dogs and enjoy playing with them too. My ideal home is one with people everywhere (kids, grandmas, visiting relatives—all welcome!)Bigger kids are better, to avoid being knocked over by my enthusiasm. Another dog friend? Super! If not, let's go find some canine pals outside.Uh, no kitties, please. I just want to love you up and have you love me back!Additional videos:https://youtube.com/shorts/HQzhqZQYauc, https://youtu.be/EvafMy-pSPQ, https://youtube.com/shorts/E5zc9kFSpjo?si=JhdWUMH1n160QCVEhttps://youtu.be/YZNP-ndXG1s, https://youtube.com/shorts/TxvPnkawZzc, https://youtube.com/shorts/X4YZRvj8OzYEnergy Level: moderateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: noKids: yesFears: none observed. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
