Story
Miss Saturday found herself at the shelter when her owner died. This gorgeous lady is about 2 years old and 109 pounds. She is grieving and would absolutely love a foster home to help her start to heal. We are still getting to know her and will update her bio as we learn more. Please consider fostering to help us learn more about our pups! For anyone looking for a lost pet or considering adoption or fostering, we encourage you to make regular visits to the shelter. Please note that this website is updated every 24 hours and may not include all the animals available at CARE STL. If you are interested in a specific dog, such as (name of dog), we invite you to stop by the CARE STL Adoption Center located at 2700 Walnut Pl, 63103. Simply ask for more details about the particular animal you are interested in.

Story
I've been sponsored by the Petfinder Kia Grant to help reduce adoption fees. Thanks to the wonderful Petfinder Foundation my adoption fee is only $25.00! Hi!! Apollo here. I'm a goof and loving boy. The shelter isn't too sure what my situation was like prior, but I am selective with new people. It takes me a little extra attention and treats, but once I know you're a friend, I will love you unconditionally and always. The staff says I'm connected at the hip or a "velcro" dog once we're friends. I do great with other dogs and really enjoy playing! I'm not a fan of kitty cats- they scare me so no feline friends for me unfortunetly. Since I'm such a big guy, a home with older children would be the best. On top of all of that, I'm potty-trained and do great in a kennel overnight. I'm looking for that extra special someone that can have patience with me and teach me how to be the bestest boy. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##1801113##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Connie, a captivating 7.5-year-old Cane Corso with a stunning blue fawn brindle coat. Originally a Craigslist purchase (bad idea!), she was surrendered after a stint with a family unfamiilar to the breed, including a young child with whom she didn't quite connect. Since being in her foster home, she has mastered crate, leash, and house training. Connie's heart finds joy in car rides, and the great outdoors beckons to her adventurous spirit – hiking and walks in the woods are her jam! Her ideal home is one where she can revel in peace and tranquility, preferably in a rural setting with a human home during the day. While she dreams of a loving home, Connie needs to be the only girl, either as the only dog or alongside a large/giant breed brother. Feline friends aren't her cup of tea though! If you can offer the unique love and environment Connie seeks, you might just be her perfect match. Your journey with Connie begins by completing a Family Profile application on our website. Story
Looking to find a good home for King. King was born 5/27/2023 and was adopted by me 8/5/2023 from Petland. He is a pure bred, AKC Cane Corso and is black brindle. King is playful, loves attention, and full of energy. He needs a home without young children, preferably no children. He is obedient to his caretaker and has gone through extensive training. He loves to chew sticks, bones, and basketballs! It was a tough decision to decide to find him a new home. I have two younger children and he does not do well with them. He has not bitten any one. He does great with adults though and loves attention. He loves being outdoors.

Story
Duke, 6yrs, Male, Cane Corso, Brindle, 150# Duke is an amazing boy, but he is all Corso. Only homes with guardian breed experience will be considered for adoption. True to his breed, He is protective of his home and people. Loyal to a fault, he loves his humans. Though he loves kids, due to some resource guarding behavior, he needs a home without young children. Duke is very good on his basic obedience and he is crate trained. He does well with other even temperament dogs and is generally pretty easy going guy. He would be best in a home with no small dogs or cats. His adoptive home must have a 6 foot privacy fence, to keep him safe. And must be (within 50 miles) local to the Saint Louis metropolitan area. Duke's adoption donation is $450.00 and he is up to date and fully vetted. Interested adopters must submit an adoption application through our website, steppingstonebully.org to be considered.
